wow.. amazing... holy shit if the latest version is shown on E3!... 2010 seems more likely.

I wonder how far along the game is now, they can't really keep it in the cooker for too long. I'd say march 2010 by the latest.

seems a little too polite to tell Sony to F off.

Anyway..i don't see how they couldn't imcorporate trophies. Im sure they can at least do some story completion trophies.

Trophies would be bad for this type of game. Well as a matter of fact they are bad in any game that creates tense immersion :/

Damn this really makes me want to go out and get a PS3...
Sucks that it'll never happen :´(

The animation is off the records, which games come close to this?
Then please let me show you the door

they should make all the trophies hidden till you beat the game

Well, it's easy to explain. Uedas last two games were masterpieces. Now this concept-video got leaked. Not really much "gameplay" was shown. Just a glimpse/idea of his new game. So it's only logical to assume "His next game will be another great Ueda-game" and it's DUMB to say "it will be SHIT" or "it's looks medicore" after seeing NOTHING about gameplay+stuff in this (I say it again) over one-and-a-half-year old "concept-video".

This. Basically expecting failure from Ueda is like expecting your brand new Ferrari to suddenly break apart into a million pieces when you start the engine.

I 100% agree that this game shouldn't have trophies popping up while you're playing. The Linger In Shadows demo demonstrated how trophies can be handled after the fact, so perhaps this game could do the same. Just give you all the trophies you earned when you're done playing.

I'm sure they'll think of a clever way of implementing them. This is Team ICO we're talking about, after all.

Yessir.

DMC2
RE5

(wait, did Mikami bail out from both of those?)

I still say the game would look a lot more interesting if there was more conflict (not saying there won’t be).

Imagine if the trailer was switched up a little bit and went more like this:
1. Terrified boy runs from griffin and falls
2. Griffin saves boy and they look off into the sunset where they know their journey will lead them…triumphant music plays
3. All of a sudden the music gets dark and foreboding as they see the silhouette of the sword-wielding colossus (or Dormin) from SotC on the horizon

It would give the game an epic and sort of Lord of the Rings vibe (the boy and the creature would bond during their generally peaceful journey but they would know their journey wouldn’t be over until they go into and survive the lion’s den).

I think even if the game is finished, Sony may hold off releasing it until it's marketing environment is about right. I wouldn't be surprised if they said Fall 2010.

Yeah, that's really not his style.

While it's a little early to be looking forward to the next in the series, I seriously hope they continue with the two-games-per-generation thing.

Besides, Team ICO always creates concept videos to give an idea of what they want the game to be like. So yeah, it's fair to suggest this is pretty indicative of what the game is about.
You don't get what I wanted to say ;) Yeah, we can suggest this is pretty indicative of what the game is about. But this wasn't the game. It was a concept-video during the early development-time (when they were just working on the engine probably). Just like NICO. Remember the video? Different engine, different ideas, different designs etc. But you could "suggest it was pretty indicative of what the game will be about"

Yeah, I mistook your point. Apologies.

DMC2 had a different director and a completely different team.
RE5 had a different director.

Not the same situation here where this is the same director and same team working on the title.

I'm not sure about this. I mean, it's a mid-quel. We know how it starts. We know how it ends.

We know nothing about this. At all. It could take place simultaneously with SotC, be set thousands of years before ICO, or exist entirely within the bowels of a colossus.

We have zero idea at this point.

We don't know shit.

Really? Playing SOTC and ICO tells you nothing about the game? We don't know that the character is reborn into a child with horns who obviously lives at the end of the new TRICO game?

I think this looks really cool, but it's just another reminder of how painfully slow a lot of Japanese developers have been with development this gen.

Do we have any sources for a true HD print of the video or do we have to settle for Youtube HD?

This game, wow. In some shots it looks slightly below average (BUT IT'S EARLY) but in others it's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen that blows away anything else, and it does it with actual art what a concept!

Err... we know what happens in those games, but how are you managing to place this game in the timeline knowing just what we've seen from the trailer? It could honestly be before SotC, after SotC but before Ico, or after Ico for all we knwo.

There are already some things in this trailer that tie the game to the first two.

Cursed marks on the boy's arms, similar to those Yorda had in the ICO CG pilot.
A symbol on the chain in the beginning that's very similar to the colossi weakspot symbol.
The rings found in the desert in Shadow of the Colossus and the waterways in ICO at the far right of the screen in the ruins panorama scene.
The creature has tiny horns.

You're jumping to a lot of conclusions just based off of a concept trailer.

On my first playthrough, only on the horse and the gladiator colossuses. :D
To be honest, the only one that gave me trouble was the penultimate colossus. The last minotaur one. Good lord - that thing took me two hours to kill! :lol

Lets keep it rolling
This comic has been posted at least three times in this thread now.

After watching the video for the 5th time I no longer need E3 to satisfy my lust for announcements... Ueda delivers on this year old video...

Grittonwy ftw

The twelfth colossus (Or the second water one- I can't remember the exact number) was the biggest challenge for me. Took me a while to figure out what to do.

Looks pretty sick, but I wish the trailer wasn't leaked... imagine the impact it would've made during Sony's E3 presentation. Well, I'm hoping we see some actual gameplay during the presentation, and this is just a small appetizer.
