Looks pretty sick, but I wish the trailer wasn't leaked... imagine the impact it would've made during Sony's E3 presentation. Well, I'm hoping we see some actual gameplay during the presentation, and this is just a small appetizer.
Except this isn't the exact thing we would be seeing. The engine is not as refined as it's over a year old and God knows when that was captured and from what build. So while we knew the game existed and now know part of the initial concept (it seems) it doesn't diminish the anticipation to see the game in it's current form of which we've not seen. There has not been an official coming out for this game. On top of that no one is talking about how and why this was leaked over a year after it's behind closed doors showing. I would've crapped myself if i had info but had to keep quiet. The piece was epic.

I wonder how far along the game is now, they can't really keep it in the cooker for too long. I'd say march 2010 by the latest.
But then it would be going against the Game of the Year, God of War III.

Those guys spent a lot of time observing the nuances of animal behavior. The detail and accuracy of the animation reminds me of Studio Ghibli, especially Takahata and Miyazaki, which is about the highest compliment I can give regarding this topic. In Takahata's films, the functional frame rate was generally low compared to giant budget Pixar projects, but the accuracy of representing behavior was astounding.
Absolutely. It's interesting how many people in this thread are seeing their (often quite different) animal's movements and mannerisms in the Chimera. I really think those animators (and programmers, actually -- one thing that sets this team's work apart is how well animations are integrated with gameplay and their environment) must have spent hundreds of hours looking at animal footage while creating this.

You mean God of War III would be going up against the Game of the Year TRICO.

Sadly never played a Team ICO game yet but i can see (or rather feel) from the trailer where their legendary reputation comes from.

Loved the trailer. Visually rough around the edges in some places which seem absolutely normal for this kind of early footage. But the content is so nice and dare i say emotional.

well the video has been on youtube now for around 20 hours, and has had over 300,000 views - i think if Sony were worried it would threaten their E3 presence it'd have been taken down ages ago
i think it's an intentional leak

Kratos will kill that hideous TRICO creature in the first seconds of God of War III, and I will enjoy controlling it.

[most beautiful creature ever seen in gaming]
Enough people have commented on the awesomeness of the animation, but the way the light interacts with the ears (subsurface scattering?) and how the short fur on the rim lights up is also very nice.

Man, that Griffin looks damn near photorealistic at times. I can only imagine the amount of effort that went into creating and animating it.

You know what, first reaction of the creature was "My god no more stem cell research because that is whats gonna come out of a failed experiment!". After watching the video though and seeing its animation I sorta thought it was cute towards the end, if the animation is good (which it should) then it will be cute in an endearing way,

the creatures movements are verty cat like. when i saw the clip of it rubbing its nose against the kid i immediately thought of my cat
it actually reminds me of the realistic animation in nintendogs

GoW3 may take game of the year, but Trico's impact will likely be felt much longer than that. Game of the next 5 years?

Griffonwy will take a big dump on Kratos and Kratos will simply choke on teh poop and die.

WOW

That looked absolutely awesome. The animation was great and I loved the backgrounds.

That scene when they're going underwater is fuck awesome. If this footage is a year old I cannot wait for the finished product.

Hype +100

I wonder if it will eventually develop stronger wings and be able to fly.

That's one thing that makes me think the creature won't see much revision. They have put a TON of work into animating that design; I can't imagine they'd want to completely start over from scratch given the level of effort.

Beyond that, it truly is the perfect design. If they try to hard to make it look cute, it will only appear artificial; this has a sort of shoddy appeal that lends itself a sense of reality.

Yeah, that's really not his style.
Really? What about it (I'm not trying to start an argument here. I'm just curious how that isn't his style).

He seems to be all about the juxtaposition hope and despair in his games.

I don't think those elements would have been necessary for the internal video though, i imagine it was just created to show the main themes of the game (bonds and contact etc)
I think the more 'epic' description would be saved for an official reveal

I am in love with Team Ico. However, I still need to play Ico.
They really should release 1080p60fps versions of ICO and SotC for PSN. ICO is my favorite game ever, but it's so low res, and SotC just runs like ass.

This is the only reason I haven't finished ICO. The PS3 doesn't upscale it for shit.

I don't think the team is all the interested in doing remakes or should spend their time doing remakes when they can make even better games.

Team ICO don't need to do it. SCEJ aren't doing shit this generation, that'd be a nice little project for them.

I'd like it quite a bit as well, though part of me still believes SotC would be both helped and hurt by any alterations to its controls or framerate - as unbelievable as that sounds. ICO? Yeah, buff it up and make it available.

Well, thats what B teams are for...but yeah I doubt there'd ever be a remake, not for another 5 years anyways

I know what you're getting at, and I think the same thing. Any changes to the framerate, like if they bumped it up to 60 frames a second, would in a way take away from the cinematic feel of the game. Its hard to explain what you and I are getting at, but I think it has to do with changing the look/feel/pace of the game. Despite the framerate issues, for me, it's part of the game's appeal. I give it a pass on the framerate issues.

Did they fix the framerate issues in the PAL version or something? I've found nothing to really complain about so far, and I'm up to the final colossus-

what a day.

after living the whole day in this thread and watching catbatbirdthing climbing ruins 450x times i`ve decided to take a rest....so goodbye historic videogaming day, you will be long remembered in my heard.
