With the popularity the juniors are going to get worse, but the mods have been doing a fairly decent job at cleaning up.

Until you say you dont like Resident Evil 4

i kid

hey I've never been banned for posts about RE4. my last ban was for calling someone a 'fucking idiot' because they were insisting that the high resolution texture pack that Crytek put out for Crysis 2 were just upscales of the original textures.

I said something like 'I don't make a habit of directly insulting people, but I'm directly insulting you. You are a fucking idiot.'

I had zero complaints about being banned. I stepped over the line and my punishment was just.

but yeah, if you don't like RE4, YOU CRAZY MANG.

I was linked to GAF when I was the on the Planet Gamecube boards. It was a thread about Wind Waker and how much ya'll hated the look.

LOOK WHO'S LAUGHING NOW.

Man, that was back in 2000.

13 years I've dedicated my internet time to you guys. GAF and RSS feeds are the only two websites I ever visit anymore.

Makes world leading predictions like "The sun will rise tomorrow"
"Adam Orth’s apparent departure from Microsoft last night might just be NeoGAF’s defining moment, for better or worse."

No, it isn't.

For Adam Orth, the day NeoGAF found his Twitter posts was the biggest day of his life.

For NeoGAF, it was Tuesday.

Thank you Edge for more empowerment for these minions of videogamer evil...

After reading the full article, his decisions displayed from such as young age, reaffirms my decision to join the GAF! Despite not being the 'hardest of hardcore'.

honestly the fact that EviLore has received offers for NeoGAF demonstrates the lack of insight those commercial entities have into NeoGAF.

Seriously, how many of you would stick around if this place was bought out by a corporate overlord interested only in monetizing the site?

Idea:

EviLore, sell it, make bank, start new site, all of GAF migrates. You just owned the man.

Batteries the CRISIS!
Enough influence to even have accidents or fake information be taken as gaming news.

Those who remember the MGS: Triology stuff would know, and I'm pretty sure there's other instances.

Orange Ocelot Soda!

GAF has an OT?

Oh right, now I remember. That is where I go to get banned >:|

Pretty much.

No one went to Gaming-Age for the site though. No one even knew it had a front page!

Yeah, everyone bookmarked the forum and not the front page.

Any contract from a competent buyer would include a non-compete clause keeping him from building a new site.

But it wouldn't carry the same name.

Pretty sure that most contracts have a non-compete type clause in them.

I'm taken aback by this article. I can't believe that we're painted as a pit of vipers, essentially. Have they not looked at any other forums with this kind of membership? NeoGAF is incredibly accepting in comparison as far as I'm concerned.

Absolutely. There's a zero threshold to bullshit and arrogance from whoever but candid, straightforward industry people/companies have a large support base in here. There seems to be a concerted effort to paint NeoGAF as a bloodthirsty herd (I'm rather curious to watch GT videos about NeoGAF). I understand that on the surface it could be perceived as that, but to someone that visits regularly and even participates it should be clear that is nothing of the sort.

obviously you're right, but where would we all go if that happened? I sure as shit wouldnt hang around to be monetized. reddit /r/gaming is cool and all, I guess, but gaming memes and "look what I found" posts get old pretty fast.

They didn't even talk about the OT, where some really serious shit goes down.

I still remember that guy who provided evidence that he was the guy in those insanely popular "Hannah" amateur porn videos and told the whole story behind it. Now THAT'S breaking news.

“NeoGAF’s membership includes thousands of press and industry accounts, but among those with a negative attitude toward the enthusiast press, it comes down to the sentiment that it is primarily a credulous PR arm of the video game publishers,” says Malka.[...]
However much one might disagree with this – and we do in the strongest possible terms [...]

You don't say. >_>
