I want to boot up Bloodborne just to start a Larry Bird playthrough. So what you're saying is the correct answer is Larry Bird?
... agreed.
Ofcourse its all opinions, but...I love both games but Bloodborne has 2 particular bosses that are better than any in Elden Ring.
Ludwig The Holy Blade and Lady Maria are FromSoft at their best. The music for Ludwig's fight was sooo good, I would die on purpose just to keep hearing it and the 2nd phase transition is "MY" most memorable moment in any FromSoft games dating back to Kings Field!
Holy shit man, whatever it was I'm glad you made it through.I had abandoned my job and got into some shit for a few years which almost cost me my life. That's another story.
Yup. The amount of whining about Elden Ring's supposed difficulty from the never level vigor crowd is getting ridiculous. And Bloodborne's chalice dungeons are full of reused bosses, yet these clowns somehow think that this is some sort of critical flaw with Elden Ring.Repeating awesome bosses and giving them new moves and powers isn't a problem when you already have many more different kinds of bosses than games that don't repeat bosses.
When you're fighting a giant snake demon in a fiery hellscape and he pauses the battle and turns around to reveal a creepy humanoid face on the back of his serpent hide that awakens and says "very well" do you think to yourself "oh, how generic?"
It's like a hipster backlash to the game of games

Disagree. Jump attack and guard counter are very useful and add a lot to combat. Ashes of War has a lot of things that are extremely useful but also many quite useless. Magic is better than ever. Only Spirit ashes need to be rebalanced, low tier spirits are too weak compared to high tier.Though I have had great fun riding around on Torrent and swinging my big ass weapons around (when the game lets me), I can honestly say that I have grown bored of running around aimlessly in Elden Ring. In gameplay it does not hold a candle to even modded Dark Souls 1 and nonmodded Scholar of the First Sin as I find the jumping attacks to be half assed and guard counters to be pointless and the rest lacking in preciseness. The Ashes of War are hit and miss. The magic feels slow. Most of the loot unrewarding. The further I progress into the game the less I get out of it.
In contrast, Bloodborne just feels fast and rewarding whether in gameplay or in exploration. Progress feels genuine as I replay it. It is just endlessly entertaining.
P.S. The baddest boss I faced was the black phantom of Scirvir the Wanderer in Demon Souls on Black World Tendency in Stonefang Tunnels. I got rekked so many times, I had to ring him out with Stormruler to get his Talisman of Beasts. I could never win on my terms, the man had too much swagger...

Celts could use some hoonting right now man.I want to boot up Bloodborne just to start a Larry Bird playthrough.
What's arguably the strongest build in Elden Ring?Ofcourse its all opinions, but...
Really? Lady Maria? I understand Ludwig since he was one of the first bosses with good transition to phase 2 with memorable cutscene. But Lady Maria is Fromsoft at their best? i have to disagree. Why do you think she is among the best?
While Lady Maria has those flashy cool anime moves i think as a boss she was rather underwhelming, for example her transition to phase 2 and 3 in the fight wasn't as good as others, and the way she can be easily staggered (you can spam regular attacks on Lady Maria and stagger her until your stamina is depleted) or parried takes away from the challenge. In addition to that she behaves like an upgrade hunter fight but without the cool transformation and dialogue of Father Gascoigne or the cooler aesthetics and dance-like fight of Gerhman. I think Orphan of Kos and Ludwig were both more unique, more challenging and better executed as bosses for important characters/beings. On the other hand Laurence and Lady Maria under-delivered imo. Maria was decent but too easy and Laurence was extremely underwhelming due to being like a reskinned cleric beast but with fire and a 2nd phase where he is on the ground, it does not do it justice for one of the major characters of the story.
I have to admit her design is elegant and she looks cool, but that alone does not put her at the top of Fromsoft boss roaster imo. We are talking about bosses like:
Isshin the Sword Saint, Demon Prince, Owl, Genichiro, Rykard, Gael, Sir Alonne, Radhan and many others.
And to throw oil to the fire i would personally claim both Sister Friede and Malenia both as better and more memorable fights too.
I think Rykard is the best spectacle boss in the games (2nd would be Divine Dragon from Sekiro) its a masterpiece of a boss fight, the voice acting, the cinematic, the lines, the build up to reach him via the quest, his backstory and the gimmick itself is a spectacle to be held, he is my personal No.1 Favorite boss fight in Elden Ring and top 10 of all time.
Main reason why I couldn't get into BB. I would still jump in if Bluepoint did a remake but the release version just don't hold up for me today. I have no idea if it's better than Elden Ring if I would do a deep analysis because I had already dropped it after a few hours of frame stutter annoyance.Hand on heart, I am amazed at the way everyone just completely glosses over BB's frame rate and frame pacing issues.
I get it at the time, but years later, with the DS remake and games running at a steady 60fps, I'm thinking it might be time to start calling bullshit.
Bloodborne's world is generic now? WTF…And bloodborne isnt? Most overrated game ever. Lack of weapons and lack of builds.
Exactly.Bloodborne generic?

Elden Ring really is the new hyperbole hot shit, people just love to pile on the blind adulation.Elden Ring actually pushes the gaming medium forward, though.
I think it suits Bloodborne better. It's one of my favorite game but I find it always overlooked flaws. Boss base game mostly meh, repetitive environment, shitty camera and perfomance, level design drop quality after Central Yharnam, Chalice Dungeon bad and boring,.... I also agree that the theme, aesthetic and atmosphere are the best in the series but overall there are many elements that I find other games to do much better.Elden Ring really is the new hyperbole hot shit, people just love to pile on the blind adulation.
Dark souls 2. Ok and bb. Curated carefully prepared and balanced content wins.
I don't believe er honey moon is not over.
Bosses suck ass, magic galore, repeated bosses and enemies many times. 13 erdtree avatars which is ds1 boss for example.
The balance is out the window. The level design is out the windows. I have a lot of gripes with the game despite being my goty. I just think it's a step in the wrong direction. And the story could be so interesting…
Watch these. Good summary of why open world is not the best thing here.
And more on combat

I would be more interested in the results if Bloodborne was crossplatform.Imagine the poll results if Bloodborne were an Xbox Exclusive. The fact that ER is keeping pace with a PS exclusive on this forum tells you all you need to know. ER is the GOAT.
Give it a rest, no one want to see a drive by posting moaning about how "the other side" has an unfair advantage. This whole thread is full of discussion about why one is better than the other including reasons why people prefer BB over ER as a complete experience, and you just swing by to claim invisible bias.Imagine the poll results if Bloodborne were an Xbox Exclusive. I started hating open world around 2017, and I've never really been able to finish an open world game since then. Bloodborne is an absolutely perfect game, to me. The level design and art is just unreal, terrifying, and beautiful, not to mention haunting. Developers who attempt to pull off what Bloodborne did usually just create a cringe fest, yet somehow From Software created a game that seems to swim through the mind long after its launch. I truly believe I'll be thinking about this game occasionally in twenty years, not many games I can say that about.Bloodborne because I'm starting to hate the open world trend.
If Bloodborne was multiplat it wouldn't receive the same acclaim.for gameplay . ER since its newer.
for unqiueness, bloodborne.
I think if there is a bloodborne 2, it could blow ER out of the water.
But then, the voting is a bit unfair for bloodborne as bloodborne is only available on playstation (if you exclude emulation), so majority of the people would vote for ER
If Bloodborne was multiplat it wouldn't receive the same acclaim.
A lot of the love for the game is down to the fact it's an exclusive.
I think that's mostly to see the game play at 60fps.Must be the reason why everybody not owning a PlayStation wants a PC port....
yes, it would be even better if its multiplat. If Bloodborne was multiplat it wouldn't receive the same acclaim.
A lot of the love for the game is down to the fact it's an exclusive.
Don't agree with this console warriors cancel each other out can argue exclusive hurt it more actually. If Bloodborne was multiplat it wouldn't receive the same acclaim.
A lot of the love for the game is down to the fact it's an exclusive.
Or to experience the best From Software game.I think that's mostly to see the game play at 60fps.
Exactly my point and that's not to take anything away from it.If Bloodborne was multiplat it wouldn't receive the same acclaim.
A lot of the love for the game is down to the fact it's an exclusive.
Because those of us who spend thousands on a PC can't afford a console?Or to experience the best From Software game.
Because those of us who spend thousands on a PC can't afford a console?
It's a mixed bag. Of course you got those "Me see exclusive, me vote" guys (no matter if they played it), but on the other hand you have Pc and Xbox guys that vote for ER, because they couldn't play BB or don't like Sony. I wouldn't expect ER to win a landslide victory. If Bloodborne was multiplat it wouldn't receive the same acclaim.
A lot of the love for the game is down to the fact it's an exclusive.
I'm with you. I thought ER was going to be GOAT tier, but that wears off in due course. I spent 200 hours on my first character, but I have much less incentive to stick with it than even DS1, where I've played 1000+ hours and done play throughs with every weapon in the game. The first 25-35 hours for me I was thinking Elden Ring is gonna be one my favorites ever but the second half dragged on and 60+ hours on I am not sure I want to ever go back it felt like work or a chore to play at times. Bloodbourne start to finish is just a much better game.
You're right. I'm PC only and I want a PC port so I can play this game that looks great and gets so much love. A game that clearly influenced DS3 and ER's faster paced combat, and has a unique world. I could go out and buy a PS4 and BB right now, but I'm not going to do that.Finances are not the only reason why PC only gamers don't (want to) play on consoles. But nevertheless, the port begging clearly shows that people outside of the PlayStation ecosystem want to experience the best From Software game.
Pretty sure PC "port begging" has less to do with the quality of the game and more to do with where we play the game. I mean, we "port beg" everything and have been doing so for many years.Finances are not the only reason why PC only gamers don't (want to) play on consoles.
