ESPN apologizes for showing woman flashing her breast during Sugar Bowl broadcast

ESPN issued an apology for showing a woman flashing her breasts during Monday's broadcast of the College Football Playoff semifinal between Washington and Texas in the Sugar Bowl.

In the third quarter of the game, ESPN used a shot of a camera going through Bourbon Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans, a typical transition done in bowl games to show off the host city before play resumes. In the shot, a woman can be seen looking up and uncovering the top of her shirt, flashing her breast. The woman then covered her chest up before the clip ended.

ESPN acknowledge the incident, apologizing for it being shown to a national audience. “We regret that this happened and apologize that the video aired in the telecast,” ESPN’s Bill Hofheimer said in a statement to USA TODAY Sports.

I just mentioned this story to a friend on Discord who still lurks the Nintendo OT on ResetEra and he just let me know that apparently this story was posted there and it turned into a graveyard because of "Boys Club Rhetoric". Members were apparently making light hearted jokes about the whole thing and they banned like 10 people for it.


I went and looked and someone was given a full week ban from the staff for this picture and nothing else.

100% true to form for them. I've seen explicit gay threads and posts that are completely ignored and even celebrated, but when a straight man expresses even a mild joking reference to a woman it's "boy's club rhetoric". That's just the tip of the double standard iceberg for that site and its staff, though. Sometimes I miss the thread where we laugh at, shake our heads at, and sometimes feel sorry for them.

Total prudes when it comes to TV. But typically a very US/Canada thing where network tv can’t even have swearing or a nipple during prime time. I don’t think other countries in the world are so Mother Teresa. Last time I saw, Quebec is way more liberal for T&A than rest of Canada.

And if there’s a slip up, some reason the tv channel has to apologize? Weird.

Pretty sure women are allowed to go topless or breast feed in public and it’s ok. Someone technically does the same thing live tv and it’s government iron fisting.

Yeah that was a good thread, some really funny shit in it, why can't we have a thread taking the piss out of extremists, I use to do it regularly back when I used Facebook trolling far right, evangelicals, flat earthers etc, also it never stops amazing me how fucked up some people are in this day and age, how their political and social leanings can be so extreme.. I always think of the Stephen King's The Mist and that religious woman and how humans be so easily manipulated and sheep like, if it where me in that situation I would've recognised that shit right away and fucked her out into the carpark before she even had a single follower
