Ever met a celebrity? What were they like?

Lots, all the time. (Part of my work)

Some are dicks, some are divas, but most are just straight forward nice enough people.

Met Kendrick Lamar last year when he came to my university for a concert. He was walking back from the gym and I caught him on his way, got to talk with him, take a picture etc...he's a very chill dude. Way shorter in person than I expected. Apparently not a lot of people knew him though.....but his concert was fucking amazing.

I have met several celebs at my bar. Here is a brief description of all.

David Cooperfield - Talks with his hands and with a really young girl probably a 1/3rd of his age.
Dustin Diamond - Talks exactly like Screech from SBTB.
Barry Wiess - Avid "smoker" and really down to earth. Basically was talking shit the whole time about the "others" on the show.

Adrian Young - Really cool guy. Age has gotten to him.

Yucko the Clown with no make up. He isn't as out going without the makeup.

The midgets from Pit Boss. Ronald (the one on the right) was totally shitfaced.

Several others in passing through the bar. Like Richard Rawlings from Fast n Loud and Dan Aykroyd. He was selling us his vodka.

I met the Wayans bros. once at the Funnybone when they were performing. Pretty cool, even got to take a photo w/ them and my older sister. I think it was their dad's birthday that day too.

And this probably doesn't really count since it was on the job, but when doing a gig for hawking at a WWE event me a few guys got a few of the wrestlers walking in to say hi. They were going to their dressing room. I don't really watch wrestling so I didn't know any of their names, but the others did. I knew Big Show was going to be there so I was keeping an eye to see him, but they moved us behind a curtain out of good view :(

I interviewed Geoff Travis (founder and still operating Rough Trade Records UK, first signed the Stone Roses, The Strokes etc...), first year in London. A very, very nice and patient man.

So far only two: Robert Picardo and John de Lancie (around Fall 2009)
Both had shown up for a small fair in my city, where they were the guests for that particular year.

My impressions, given the ~2 min I was near both of them, was that they were nice and down to earth.

I also met with Bill Nye, albeit only in a photo opportunity, seemed nice during the brief moment.

Oh yeah, forgot...David Tennant's son goes to my school. I think he's Year 7 or something, because some people in my year were giving David and son a tour around the science classrooms sometime last year.

I used to be friends with someone who dated Scarlett Johansson back in '98/99.

She knew several people who went to my grammar school. One night I was at a different friend's apartment hanging out with him and two others, when one of them told me she was coming over with another girl. I actually had to look her up on the internet because I only vaguely knew her from Horse Whisperer. The parents were gone, so the girls got there after dark and it was just the six of us hanging out late into the night. She and my lucky friend spent most of the time cuddling.

I didn't talk to her much, but she seemed very cool and I don't remember anything negative. I do remember two of my friends almost getting into a fight over some random bullshit, probably trying to look cool in front of the girls.

That was the only time I ever saw her. I always thought it would be interesting to name-drop the guy if I ever met her again, because I doubt she'd remember me. Unfortunately, he passed away earlier this year.

I've met several band members over the years and all were very chill.

I had a chance to meet Kevin Spacey on the set of The Shipping News and he was truly awesome. At first I thought he was a total d-bag, but that ended up being his stunt double. Very down-to-earth and interesting man.

Anna Paquin when I was in school in NY at a bar. (this was before Tru Blood or any recent movies) She was nice, said she had her oscar in her closet somewhere and was a little drunk. Didn't want to take too much of her time.

I saw Conan O'brien when I was visiting my sister at her work. I had no idea his studio (Late Night with Conan O'brien was in the same building as her work. He looked crazy tall in the hallway and really pale. I guess I passed by him more than "met" him. He really stood out.

I have met Candy Dulfer 2 years back at Paradiso in Amsterdam here in the netherlands i went to see N.E.R.D. She is so nice and down to earth and so beautiful. We chatted a bit since my brother made photo's from her in a magazine and she still knew him so that was cool.

Celebs I met...

Simon Cowell
Paula Abdul
Randy Jackson
Ryan Seacrest
Brandy
L.L. Cool J
The guy that wrote Footloose
The lead singer of Sugar Ray
Rob Zombie
Raymond Watts
Flaming Lips
Smashing Pumpkins
Foxy Shazam
Bill Cosby

Most meetings were brief and not much to really share. L.L. Cool was a fun meeting because I was squished in an elevator with him and in entourage. Zombie was a really nice guy and happy to meet his fans. Watts was strange... I think he insulted me, or I just didn't get his sense of humor. Sugar Ray guy were a lot of make up to cover his age. Say what you want about Seacrest, but that guy is a professional and he takes his job very seriously.

worked on-set with Sylvester Stallone when he was filming Rocky Balboa. he always made sure every single one of us got a meal, he was incredibly nice and so down to earth. can't say a bad word about him. love that guy.

That is so awesome nobody can hate Sly same thing with Arnold. Those 2 are really my hero's from the 80's.

Met Clinton back when he was president. He was looking for places for him and Hilary to live after his term. The motorcade was going down a major route, so any streets leading to it were shut down. He happened to pull over at the street I was on and said hello to 15 or so people standing by. He was very nice, it was totally surreal, knowing that the person standing in front of you was the most powerful person in the world, very charismatic.

Met Mike D at a Knicks game, very nice, gave me an autograph and signed it Mike D - Beastie Boys as if I didn't know who he was :(.

Sum 41 outside a show right when All Killer No Filler came out. They were super cool, took photos signed my cd.

Of all the famous people I've met, no one has ever been mean or unwelcoming.

Bono - very short, cool guy, sense of humor

Al Gore - very tall, uptight, knew who he was and wanted everyone else to as well

Kobe Bryant - very cool, a big gamer, likes to trash talk in jest to make friends

Pierce Brosnan - a gentleman, classy, gracious

Elliott Gould - old and crotchety disposition

Obama - great sense of humor, very engaging, genuine

I was a graduate student in theoretical physics when Stephen Hawking visited our institute. I was able to have dinner with him and about 10 other people. This was about 6 years ago.

I hate to say it, but my main impression was "Jesus Christ this guy's life seems like a living hell". It's not like what you see in his set-up interviews, for him to type anything out (which these days he does by twitching his cheek because his thumbs don't work anymore) takes an incredible amount of time. Like imagine 10 minutes for a short sentence. He's more or less trapped inside his own world.. It was really hard to imagine.

Actually one interesting thing is that despite the amount of time it took to type things, for some reason he was always communicating in complete sentences. Like if I were him I'd just be like "chicken. No sauce." But he was all like "I'll have the chicken, without any sauce please". And all of this while making lots of mistakes and having to go back and fix things.

I've seen a few while working at ITV, david tennant, billie piper, ant an dec, worked with the guy who played eugene roe in band of brothers, he was really cool.

met dave wyndorff in new jersey got him to autograph a dollar bill

saw paul weller in the street in london err and only a few new presenters

chris martin from coldplay sat behind eating chips at canteen once (this was before the became big)

met roddy woomble from idlewild (scottish band)

no one mega famous really.

mostly now I just run into the odd news presenter, seen zane lowe (radio one DJ and got into a lift with him, )or if any "famous" (as in i wouldn't know) boybands or who ever come out of the building at work.

I was hanging out at Bar Marmont about a year ago and I was trying to get change for the meter where I parked my car. I went all over the place and nowhere had quarters. I ended up going to the hotel valet and they didn't have quarters. But a nice guy gave me a dollar in quarters and said no when I handed him a $1 bill. That nice guy turned out to be Keanu Reeves.

Reeves is so awesome.

I suppose the coolest was when I was in Camden three months ago going to my regular Monday night pub. As I approach the pub I see the owner (who's Irish and often a bit "merry") is in the middle of the pavement smashing his head into a metal cooking oil barrel.

From the pub entrance I can hear this loud northern accent saying "come on man, you can't be doing that! Put it down!" Felt like the situation was in hand so I walk up to the doorway and say excuse me, and have to double take when I recognise the dude trying to calm the pub owner down...

Ned fuckin Stark. Made my night.

Fiona O'Shaughnessy (Utopia Actress) - Was waiting for a taxi outside a train station in London and she rushed out looking a bit flustered. Took me a second to realise who it was. The main actress from...a TV show! Couldn't remember the name so I never said anything about it or asked for a photo, I didn't want to be 'that guy'. She asked if I knew where a road was as she was going to a wedding. I had no idea but told her I had the number for a taxi and let her use my phone. Sweet lady, lovely irish accent. Looks less 'odd' in real life, beautiful in a really unique way. She thanked me and went on her way while I took secret pictures. Then I remembered...Utopia!

David Beckham (God, Footballer) - Me and some bros were adventuring around Beverly Hills a few years back and noticed two nice Land/Range Rovers heading our way. I just had a weird feeling it was my man, DB. The front car was him with a beanie on and one of his sons in the front seat. The second was must have been security, they beeped at us for freaking out haha. Never felt so out of place in my life, 4 english geeks wandering around Beverly Hills, getting beeped at by Beckhams security and having high rollers in their Ferarris staring at us. Doesn't count as meeting him, but whatever!

Jimmy Carr (Comedian) - Bumped into him in Soho a year or so ago. Looked miserable, it was around the time he'd got caught for all that tax evasion business. Didn't say too much apart from 'sorry'.

Nick Grimshaw (Radio 1 DJ) - Was sat in a reception a few weeks back and he came in to do some voice work. Looked kinda grim (hehe) and tired, didn't say anything but took secret pictures again. It's all about Greg James anyway <3

Ricky Rayman (or something like that, TOWIE dude) - One of the 'stars' of The only way is Essex. Bumped into him at 5am on the way back from my final night out at Uni. If I wasn't with one of my best female friends he would have just been another guy, but she recognised him and freaked out. He was acting all cocky and it annoyed me, I told him bluntly that his show was shit and he was rubbish and he's probably not even famous. He asked me where McDonalds was (I was gorging on a McMuffin), I didn't tell him and walked home.

Man is that losing the meeting a celebrity lottery or what. Eugh.

worked on-set with Sylvester Stallone when he was filming Rocky Balboa. he always made sure every single one of us got a meal, he was incredibly nice and so down to earth. can't say a bad word about him. love that guy.

My parents work for US Airway Center, they tell me all the time that a lot of Musicians really do care about the people they work with and always make sure they get a good meal. Its the little things that make them human.

They were filming a scene of Grown Ups 2 in my town not too long ago. I got to see Adam Sandler, David Spade, and Nick Swarsdon.

Sandler was super nice, took pictures with anyone who asked, and he even struck up a conversation with my Dad who was working a detail on set.

Spade was a complete tool, he talked down to everyone, complained about everything.

Swarsdon was kinda how you'd expect him to be, not necessarily an asshole, but he was just really obnoxious, he had no filter either, which bothered me with all the kids visiting the set.

I worked with all three for a few months and pretty much agree with your assessment. Sandler is great, Spade is a dick, and Swardson is somewhere in between.

I saw JOHN LANDIS in an airport once. I was exhausted and decided to just say to him 'See you next Wednesday' to let him know I knew who he was and to get some geek props (in my own head). But since I was so tired I said 'See you next Saturday', which he quickly corrected. We both had a laugh and he went into the airport Applebee's.

Very surreal experience.

I met him too. it was at Comic-con and I was in line to buy pretzels and got into a conversation with the guy next to me, talking about the craziness and the opportunity so many artists etc. As he was paying for his pretzel, I noticed he looked familiar and then saw his name badge. he was gone before I had chance to say how much I like his work.
Years later at Comic-con again, I saw him thumbing through some original cells form old Hanna Barberra cartoons, totally geeking out, like all of us. This time I went up to him and told him about our pretzel meeting years ago and he had a good laugh. Just a super nice guy.

Oh and I went to high school with Paolo Nutini, eh we have a bit of bad blood due to our families having a disagreement in business years ago (We're both from Italian families and shit gets heated fast). He's a nice enough guy though, it's complicated.

And I've met Gerard Butler and David Tennant as they are both from my Town.

Met Randy Moss at a footlocker I worked nex to about a year ago. He was shooting the shit with some employees when a young fan walked up and asked for an interview. Randy snapped to him and said, "I'm from the streets fam, I don't owe you anything!" then proceeded to pull his hat down and walk out to a small group of homeless people yelling the n word at him.

I've met Cliffy B, Jimmy Fallon & Anne Curry.

They were all really really nice to me. Anne Curry took my camera and took a selfie with me lol. I dapped up JImmy Fallon. And Cliffy B asked me if I wanted to kill or save Carmine in the next gears of war (this was before 3 came out)

I work with Dan Hoerner of Sunny Day Real Estate. One of the nicest most down-to-earth guys I've ever met.

They were also very close with Paramore and Foo Fighters so I get to hear all the awesome inside stories about them.

Awww whaaaat? :( Girlfriend's met him and says he's really nice
I don't know whether it was because he was tired from work or just stressed out or even a little bit drunk, but he came across really arrogant and rude. I was actually crushed. It was about that time I was getting into Who, and Tennant was currently in it as Ten, and yeah...I met the Doctor and he was somewhat of an ass.

My parents work for US Airway Center, they tell me all the time that a lot of Musicians really do care about the people they work with and always make sure they get a good meal. Its the little things that make them human.

yeah. stallone even gave me some of his pudding!

Judith Light from Who's The Boss grew up with my mom, so when i was young, every once in a while they'd get together.

It was more like a mom's friend thing than a celebrity thing.

I also waited tables on Ray Lewis once and it was amazing. I was tumescent the whole time.

when the Famous Star & Straps brand had a store, Travis Barker. That was pretty cool. He was a nice dude and from what I understand he's always been incredibly nice to his fans.

Back in 1999, I ran into Jim Leyland in an IHOP around 4 in the morning. It was right after the end of his first year in Colorado and I guess he still had his house in Coral Springs.

I walked up to him and said something to the effect of you got screwed over with the Marlins. He looked at me dead in the eyes and told me to fuck off.

I was on the same flight to NYC with Kieran Culkin (Macaulay Culkin's brother, Wallace from Scott Pilgrim).

He seemed like he was in a bad mood though so I didn't approach him (it was a long flight so I couldn't blame him).

Also, when we landed, I saw Julia Stiles at the airport. She seemed really chill but also kinda uncomfortable because some dude was creeping on her at that time.

I spoke to Andy Dick once over the phone while working in AT&T's wireless billing department. I saw the name and thought, coincidence; it was his assistant or girlfriend (not sure) on the phone initially, but she lacked the proper verification information, so I told her I needed to speak to the account holder. She put him on, and as soon as he spoke all doubt was gone. If memory serves, his son was looking to upgrade his phone, and I had to inform him his bill was past due and needed to be paid first.

Was a surreal little moment.

Can I request some stories?

I'd like to know about:
Kevin James
Dan Aykroyd
Chino Moreno
Melissa Joan Hart (sp?)
Amy Poehler
Any Beatle
Phil Collins
Jimmy Kimmel

Not me, but my uncle went to the same school with Matthew McConaughey. Uncle (as a senior) even sold him weed when Matt was a freshman.

Its no surprise that Matt likes to party lol.

Comedians I've met/chatted with:

Louis CK
Bob Saget
Dave Chappelle
Kevin Hart
Pauly Shore
Kevin Pollack
Bill Burr

Those are the biggest names I remember. My cousin worked on the X-Files sets as a designer and became friends with David Duchovny. Met him once at a benefit through my cousin, who was a guest speaker.

That's about it.

I "met" George HW Bush at a rally for his son about ten years ago. He commented like that he liked my shirt. Shook hands and took a picture together. We actually kind of bumped heads when we leaned in to take the picture. He was friendly.

Met all the members of 311 and Brandon Boyd from Incubus. Brandon came out and talked to a group of us for about 45 minutes after a small show in Columbus at the Alrosa Villa. This was shortly before their Science album so they weren't huge yet.

Also Gabriel Iglesius after a show in Columbus. Nicest guy in the world. Loves his fans. Interestingly he didn't want to take a picture with anyone holding beer.
