Ever met a celebrity? What were they like?

Lady Gaga - She was really sweet, a lot more down to earth than I would have ever imagined. She actually seemed really interested in everything I was saying and she told me to send her a tweet whenever she was playing in town and she'd hook me up with some tickets to the show.

That's awesome I'm super jealous! :) that's what I always hear about Gaga. I've never met a real celebrity but Gaga is one of my favorite 3 celebs that I wish I could meet (The other 2 are Madonna and Chris Evans <3 )

Met Malcom McDowell...
He hit on my girlfriend. Was pretty cool.
That's how I like to remember it anyway, he was a cool guy and joked around for a bit during the chat and took off.

I met Robert Deniro once, down the block from my old high school. It was a private school in the upper west side (Manhattan) and his daughter went to an elementary school down the street. Me and my friend had a very brief conversation with him, regarding how much stupidity he must deal with from strangers on a regular basis lol. He seemed nice enough, but we didn't to harass him, and let him go on his way. It was pretty unreal though, as he's always been one of my favorite actors.

Met Lewis Hamilton.

He was really nice to all the kids, the guy is tiny.

I think I met Neil Young once, Standing in Foyles (Charing Cross) there was a guy in a leather jacket beside me minding his own business, some people came by and instantly recognised him, he was all smiles, really polite and friendly and shook all our hands. I didn't have the heart to ask who he was but overheard the others say as I left.

Met a few others but nobody really stands out.

I met Derrick Beckles and Hannibal Burress in San Diego during Comic-Con this year. Beckles was the nicest dude, I'm a big fan of his comedy too so that was great to see. Everyone check out Hot Package on Adult Swim. I'm not sure if it has a thread yet, I'll have to make one.

Hannibal was cool too, didn't have an extended conversation with him though.

Also I was roaming the streets during SXSW with my roommates and one of my roommates was like "oh shit that's Jared Leto" to which Leto ignored as he passed us, my other roommate then asked who Jared Leto was to which the first roommate replied "that dude from My So-Called Life" which caused Leto to turn around and give us the dirtiest look ever :lol

I've met Chris Nolan. I went to a movie in which he and Emma Thomas were the only other people in the audience.

Fun fact: he's not a fan of The Bling Ring.

Fun fact #2: he still validates his parking.

Ive seen Keanu reeves on the train a bunch of times, but I never talked to him just the occasional eye contact head nod. It might be an unwritten rule to not bother keanu when you see him on the train in ny, I don't think I've ever seen anyone acknowledge him

Define celebrity.

Big movie star? No.

Worldwide known musicians? Plenty and all of them have been the coolest people on the planet.

I met Won G at Walmart once when he was getting his career started, that went nowhere. I saw him on VH1 15 years later lol. He was cool too.

I met Mike Shinoda and the DJ dude from Linkin Park like back in 2000 where they were working out at Bally's, at first I think they were kind of annoyed that I approached them but they ended up acting pretty cool and signed a piece of paper lol

I met Raymond Herrera who was the drummer of Fear Factory and he was by far the coolest fucking celebrity I've met to this day. He was coming out of some mom and pop videogame store that was next to a venue they were playing and I saw him walking across the street and I had to say what's up. We talked video games, music, etc. Rad person!

I met the drummer and bassist of Mudvayne. Can't remember their names, bassist was cool as fuck, drummer was a tool

I met the bassist of Between the Buried and Me a few years back chillin at a bar but he wasn't drinking, he was watching the Indians game, and he was really cool, I think I hung with that dude for a good hour or so just talking shit. It was weird when his dad was checking in with him via text while he was out on the road, he also spoke about his troubled love life at the time, and I didn't know what to say lol!!I offered to buy him a beer and smoke him up but the dude doesn't drink/toke at all, which made me feel like a dumbass

Seth Rogen - nice enough, kind of aloof.
Danny McBride - the nicest (although this was before he was known)
Paul Rudd - super cool and friendly. he complimented me on my Mogwai t-shirt.
Judd Apatow - kind of a dick
Eliza Dushku - quiet, seemed cool enough.
Cast of Season Two Buffy minus SMG - sweethearts, each and every one of them.

He used to shop at my local grocery store. He was really into nutrition - I guess he was dieting - and really friendly with the grocery staff, always discussing various products and their health values. He always looks like he's giving the evil-eye, even when he's normal so he unintentionally comes off as creepy. Seemed like a nice guy though.

Quentin Tarantino, but not really. I picked up a friend at the airport in Austin, on a red eye from LA. I kind of got in front of his group, got a drink from a water fountain, and timed my walk so we were next to each other.

He said "Austin has the safest Taco Bell in the country, because you have to go through a metal detector to get to it." I laughed and he looked down at me like 'Who the fuck are you?'

I saw Wayne Newton at an airport a few years ago, and he looked inhuman. Stretched leather skin with dyed jet black hair. Like he was wearing a flesh mask.

My sister is friends with Amy Acker, and we've hung out a few times long ago, but certainly not friends or anything.

Lol. Reminds me of that scene in Pee Wee's Big Adventure.

Fwiw, Tarantino was pretty nice to me and my friends at the US premiere of Pulp Fiction. I don't think he had had much fan interaction at that point in his career.

Kevin Smith seems like he'd be an awesome guy to meet. At least I hope he would.

Stone Cold Steve Austin. At a book signing in a store I managed in. Got out of his limo drunk. lol Line to have their book signed was into the 1000's and he was scheduled for two hours. Told his manager to rebook his flight because he would stay until the line was gone and he did.

I met Phil Anselmo a couple times. He was kind of a jerk but when I met him again later on he wasn't as much. A friend of mine knows Hank III and that guy is cool as hell. I was friends with Dax Riggs before he moved to Austin, TX. Also a nice guy. Mike Williams from EYEHATEGOD is super funny and really nice to talk too. I never met Aaron Turner once but he eMailed me after I gave a bad review to an ISIS record and he threatened to beat me up. I've met/hung out with King Buzzo from The Melvins several times and interviewed him on the phone. About an hour long conversation. Awesome guy. That whole band is great. Same situation with Mike Patton. People say Patton is a jerk but he's just opinionated and really sarcastic. I fangirl'd out over Michio Kurihara when I met him at a Boris gig. Got him to sign some records and shit, almost bought a Heritage Cherry colored SG so he could sign that as well. Met George Clooney and John Turturro when they filmed O' Brother. Turturro is incredibly awesome. Met John Goodman but it was a few years after O' Brother, also a great human being. I met that guy on Top Chef who committed suicide recently as well. Nice fella. Met Jerry Lawler when I was younger and we talked about Andy Kaufman. My dad knows Ted DeBiase and a couple of guys who play in the NFL.

ed

Oh, and Jim Sterling, the Destructoid guy. I've seen him in GameStop a bunch of times. Never talked to him, though. Apparently he lives on the other side of the city.

I called Mike Jones once. Got Willie Nelson's number once too and called him. Mike Jones didn't talk much other than "whats up". I told Willie he was awesome and he said thanks.

I didn't have the heart to ask who he was but overheard the others say as I left.

A friend of mine works at Kim's Music in NYC, said once Neil Young came in wearing his Shakey mechanic outfit. Was just browsing around and when he went to pay, he handed Chris his CC with Neil Young on it and then took it back quickly and paid with cash.

I met Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine at a bar after their concert in Osaka, Japan back in 2008.

My friends and I chatted w/him a bit about Chicagoland (we & Tom are all originally from Chicago/Chicago suburbs) and he was nice enough to take a pic with me:

Really cool guy!

My good buddy had a drink with Alexi from Children of Bodom, he had never heard of them before the show at the time(this was almost a decade ago I believe) and went up to him after and just thanked him for a good set and he is a fan now. Alexi was totally cool, thanked him and bought him a beer lol.

I have chatted with Sven from Aborted a few times, he's such a character and a total blast to be around.

The drummer and singer(currently) of Decapitated are totally chill guys and very cool.

I met Tim DeKay and Matt Bomer while they were filming White Collar at my college. ran into Patrick Mapel coming out of the Time Warner building and veronica belmont at a gdgt event. not a bad experience with any of them but veronica was the nicest.

i hate the morning commute to school... news crews right in front of the time warner building sticking cameras in peoples faces

He's got a heart of gold.

Like probably everyone who's ever been at a Converge show I got to chat with Jacob Bannon afterwards a bit. He dropped some wisdom and is as laid back and appreciative of their fans as you'd imagine.
He also took this pic of us:

I made coffee for Rodney Mullen nearly 10 years ago. He was a really down to earth guy. He was pretty surprised to be recognized. He asked if I skated, and I felt like a dork when I said no, and that I just knew him because he was my favorite to play as in Tony Hawk Pro Skater.

I haven't really met any massive pop culture celebrities, but I've met a few internet/music/art ones:

Allan McNish
Jeff Gerstmann
Adam Sessler
Jonathan Case
Grimes
Tim Schafer
Brad Muir
Kid Koala

All of them were super nice, and really easy to talk to. In fact, I chatted with Jonathan Case for nearly an hour. Really cool guy who seemed genuinely humbled to have fans.

A friend of mine met Avery Brooks and I'll forever be jealous.

EDIT - oh yeah, I also chatted with Arin Hanson/Egoraptor for a while recently. He offered to record something for me, so I got him to tell my friend to stop visiting the League of Legends floor at PAX.

Man, I don't skate either but I always admired Mullen for some reason (I also always played as him in the games :lol).
He seems really nice.

I met Josh Rouse in a bar, didn't know about him at the time so just sat down and ordered a whiskey then we started talking. He was really nice and even bought me a drink. I thought he was some small time indie artist but a few weeks later I watched Vanilla Sky and there was this song I really liked in it and after getting the soundtrack I was surprised to see his name next to it. Listened to his stuff for a while after that still like him.

Met singer of The Darkness in the same bar, Justin Hawkings. I was drunk and accidentally called him Steve Hawkins, but he was cool about it.

Edit: Funny thing, this bar was the VIP bar at a music festival. I had been in a minor fight with a security guard after stealing(i don't usually do that) a chicken wing where he pushed me down on the ground and I ended up scratching my arm pretty bad. Blood was pouring out so I went around looking for a restroom and the guys at the VIP bar were kind enough to let me in to clean it up. Once in I had no intention to leave though :) Even while talking to to various celebs I felt warm blood trickle down to my hand.

Also chatted with black rebel motorcycle gang in the toilet queue at the same bar, didn't know about them at the time :)

There's probably been a few more but those are the ones I remember at the time.

Also living in japan I met some celebs but I can't recall any of their names :)

I met Vince Vaughn when I used to work in Chicago. Really nice guy, gave me his autograph and said "Thank you for looking out for me guys!" (my coworker was with me and ran outside to go catch him - he was jogging with his then-girlfriend). Extremely tall dude to say the least but very pleasant.

Didn't really meet him, but I did see R. Kelly in our store. The guy wanted to buy several iPhone 4's at full price. No problem obviously because he had several wads of $100 bills. The "issue" started when after my coworker rang him out, he slid the change across the counter to R. Kelly and he literally said "Put the money in my hand." My coworker was like "Uh...what?" "Yeah I don't think you understood what I said. Put the money...in my hand!" All of a sudden his two bodyguards stepped next to him and my coworker immediately put the change in his hand.

They left afterwards. It was an interesting conversation to say the least.

I've met several band members over the years and all were very chill.

I had a chance to meet Kevin Spacey on the set of The Shipping News and he was truly awesome. At first I thought he was a total d-bag, but that ended up being his stunt double. Very down-to-earth and interesting man.

this made me laugh.

most of the people i've been most excited to meet probably wouldn't rank with most of NeoGAF.

high contrast / lincoln barrett: ridiculously humble and down-to-earth-dude

the presets: chatted over some beers with them during a backstage meet/greet thing. they were excited that breaking bad was filmed in our state, but we had to give them the bad news they were in arizona, not new mexico. ("it looks the bloody same.")

brent spiner: kind of an ass, but funny.

levar burton: truly nice dude

dominic monaghan and billy boyd: spotted these guys in the sony tent at coachella one year. they were more than happy to chat for a minute about the festival and the bands they wanted to see. i think they were grateful that i didn't ask for a picture or an autograph.

bette midler: this was a weird one and work-related and definitely the most famous person i've ever met. she was very nice and chatty, but i didn't have much to say to her outside of the reason she was in my office (i'm not a fan). the people she was with were typical hollywood douchebag types. she seemed a little annoyed at their attitudes.

Jonathan Frakes - I actually had pizza with him while I was in college at Penn State. He grew up in the area and he was behind me in line at Gumby's Pizza, this was like 20 years ago. We started chatting and ended up sitting down together at the only empty table in the place, about noontime on a Saturday. Very down to Earth guy, had lots to say about Next Generation but we talked more about my time at PSU to be honest. Oh, and he had the beard at the time...

Sheryl Crow - I met her at a POW bike rally in Reading, PA, right about the time her first song started getting popular (All I Wanna Do). I didn't really know who she was then. She was riding on the back of some guys bike, very fun and personable lady. I ended up riding next to them in the rally.

Patrick Swayze - My brother and I were out in Nevada on our Harleys (maybe 1999 or 2000?) and we were sitting along Rt. 50 looking at our maps, when this convertible pulls up behind us, and out pops none other than Patrick Swayze, asking us if we were okay or needed help. We assured him we were fine and proceeded to shoot the shit with him for like 20 minutes. He was driving to an airport to fly his Cessna for some trip, turns out Patrick was a pilot and loved to fly. I was (still am) into flight simulators and Patrick and I actually talked about MS Flight Sim for a spell, he owned a copy and had actually dabbled with it some. Very surreal and random moment, he was a super nice guy.

Rihanna & Lindsay Lohan both in Manhattan. The latter being a few years ago and the former being fairly recently.

Has anyone here met Hugh Jackman? He strikes me as the kind of guy who would take the time to be nice and friendly with anyone even if his pants were ablaze...he competes with Keanu as seemingly nicest person in Hollywood.

My wife and I Met John Krazinski and the entire cast of the office (as of season 7) during a set visit on my birthday two years ago. Incredibly nice people, all of them. The star struckedness goes away once you realize that they're just doing their day job. It just happens to be way cooler and pay more than yours does :) and Krazinski was actually really interested by my career in game dev. So that was kind if neat.

Met Adam Beach through some friends.

Hung out at a few of his parties (I mean that literally, no more than three). I doubt he would ever remember me.

He seemed like a cool guy. He looked like he could relax and have a good time. He didn't put on airs at all. Seems pretty grounded.

I went to high school with his ex wife (I don't know her all that well, but she was close to a good friend of mine). He seemed to be really close with his family. Has a really nice house in the area (Ottawa). Well, I think it was his house.

I believe I was a lurker still when you made that thread. Stood out because you and your wife have a slight resemblance to Krazinski and Fischer. heh.

Met Colbert after one of his show tapings, extremely nice and down to earth while still keeping his exuberant personality from the show. Awesome dude.

Oh yeah and he gave me a free shirt and signed one of his books for me, can't complain there.

Met Malcom McDowell...

Malcolm McDowell was a classy guy when I met him, got his autograph and a picture with him 3:

I also ran into Eddie McClintock at the same convention 5 years later, parents were gushing like crazy over him from Warehouse 13, I just thought he was a neat guy, humorous and stuff. He shook my hand and kissed my mom lol.

Friend of mine was his doorman for a long time. Nothing he said is contrary to what you believe. Talked him up all the time.

One thing I always hear about actors and people deep in the film industry is that they just want to be normal. Even if I spot a celeb, and since I live in LA, it's common. I'd rather not say anything more than, "love your work" and other interests/talking points.

Musician's, especially more obscure ones seem to be the nicest. Devin Townsend is awesome.

Hehe. I always tell her she looks like Jenna Fischer. I really wished we coulda gotten a pic of them side by side, but it was a busy day for shooting.

Also, gaming celebs I've met and had decent convos with at various trade events:

Shigeru Miyamoto
Charles Martinet
John Romero
Larry Hyrb (majornelson)
Wil Wright
Peter Moore
Cliff Blezinski
Peter Molyneux
Julian Echrebret
Bill Trinen
Nate Bihldorf
Adam Sessler
Morgan Webb
Tommy Tallarico
Victor Lucas
Gabe and Tycho
The cast of red vs blue circa season 1

And probably a handful of others that might be escaping my memory ATM.

The biggest by far that I've met - Daft Punk.

Really cool, down to earth. I was in outerspace, couldn't believe I was meeting them. My friend had an Electroma poster and got it signed too.
