Ever met a celebrity? What were they like?

I've met a few french celebrities, so most of you probably never heard of them, but for french GAF:

The nicest: Jean Dujardin (you probably know him)
The worst a-hole: Alain Chabat

Lots because it comes with the territory, so I'll just stick with the last I met. James Franco's a pleasant enough dude.

Who's that?

Met Susan Sarandon in a drugstore when I was 11. My mom had let me dye my hair blue, and Susan Sarandon waved me down an aisle, asked me about my hair, touched it and told me it was cool. Completely in love with her ever since. I've been like near a couple other famous people, but that was the only time I interacted with one.
I kinda met Tim Robbins once.

I played in the band at Oklahoma State, and our 2004 basketball team went to the Final Four. I guess Tim Robbins had become friends with our head coach, Eddie Sutton, over the course of the tournament. Eddie invited him to the game as his personal guest.

After our game, he needed a ride back to the hotel, so he rode on the band bus (slight downgrade from his usual accommodations, I'm sure). He sat in the seat right in front of me, and I was about to say hi when this kid across the aisle loudly says, "Mr. Robbins, what's your favorite movie you've been in?"

It was so awkward I ended up not saying anything. He seemed very nice though.

Haven't met a celebrity, but I have been contacted by a couple. Enzo Bontempi, Olivier Deriviere, and Rossano Galante. And actually w/ Rossano it was at a band concert.

Met the Dream Theater guys at a meet and greet. Great fellows. Management was trying to rush everyone along, but they made sure they talked to everyone for a little while.

Met Marco from Nightwish before a show. Very cool guy, with a lot of excitement and emotion when he talks.

Worked on a Show and met Billy Ray Cyrus ..... He stole my redbull :(

Also met the guy from Pinks on a show seemed like a great guy.

name a few names

I imagine some of those from Expose might be up their own arse and most of the top RTE one definitely are.

I'm terrible with names, I'd know faces moreso, but did you have a few names in mind when you wrote the comment? Or are the whole of Irish TV tossers? :D

Gareth Barry when he used to play for Aston Villa. Nice bloke and down to earth person who was really approachable and intelligent.

Alex Kopranos, Didn't have much time to talk to him, but he was quite unsociable and stuttered a lot.

I met Cindy Crawford in her prime with my uncle. I was like 11 at the time but she was hot as hell. Even today I think back and say, "Holy fuck." My uncle tried to hit on her, as we were shopping for Christmas (I think) at some upscale mall.

I met John Goodman once at a bar. He was pretty cool, we ended up talking baseball and about my 7th grade teachers who were his mother's neighbors.

Tyler Perry: Came off like an asshole but I think he was just method acting since I met him on set.

Matthew Fox: Intense guy. Seriously think he was one some shit when I met him.
Was this on the set of Alex Cross? Fun movie. Underrated. Maybe Fox was "method" too because he was a crazy fuck in that.

Met 2Chainz due to work. Drove some of his crew to a hotel, but he himself was in the other vehicle we had. Seemed like a nice guy, was willing to take pictures with some of the airport security.

I've met plenty of people from the local news too. Felt so weird since when I did on camera news, I would put on a reading voice- but all of them have that voice all the time.

Shook Bruce Campbell's hand just before the premiere of the Evil Dead remake.

Also Selena Gomez and her stupid posse pushed me out of the way as I was less than an inch away from shaking Harmony Kornie's hand.

When I first met the Xpose girls (minus Lorraine Keane) they did come across as having a chip on their shoulder. The majority of people I've met who work for RTE are quite nice.

I've met Glenda Gilson a few times. She's a complete tool. Would she still be considered famous?

Brian O'Driscoll, on the other hand, is a complete gent.

Only met her once, seemed nice but didn't leave the best impression.

I met the Indian cricket team in Toronto back in 1998. Entire team was present at a dinner function after losing an ODI against Pakistan (Sahara friendship Cup - fall 1998). They are being snobby assholes, I didn't like them at all. Sunil Gavaskar was cool though. Also met, Miss India Canada, she was beautiful

My wife was working at Bed Bath and Beyond a few years ago when a man came in and asked about laundry bags.

As she helped him she realized that he was familiar looking and finally asked, "Are you Bruce Campbell?"

His response: "Someones gotta be."

She explained to him that me and all my friends were obsessed with him and his movies and got his autograph. Said he was really nice. No one at the store had any idea who it was even after she explained and thought she was getting some guys phone #.

Only met her once, seemed nice but didn't leave the best impression.

The first time I met her she had a few drinks on her and was a bit mouthy. This may have coloured my opinion on her somewhat.

Met Paul Mooney two or so years ago in Harlem. The man is just the funniest fucking guy to talk to.

Myself and some friends were sitting in Union Square Park in downtown NYC, and there was a woman with a somewhat big jacket on, with sunglasses sitting across from us playing a guitar. Didn't think much of it at first, but I couldn't shake off the feeling that she seemed familiar. I looked at her again, and I guess I must have had one of those "Are you who I think you are...?" expressions on my face, because she lowered her sunglasses and winked at me and my friends, and yeah, turns out it was Rosario Dawson. Chatted with her for a bit, she was pretty nice. Apparently not many people realized who she was that day, heh.

I was once on the same flight as LL Cool J. 45 minute flight from LA to San Jose, he was seated with a beautiful woman who was definitely not his wife (I checked later). Afterward, at the baggage carousel, I introduced myself and asked for an autograph. LL was incredibly nice and accommodating. Sometimes I wonder if I should have been a jerk instead and rapped Second Round K.O. within earshot, just to see his reaction.

Don't know if this counts as "meeting", but I stood in line for the Louvre with Derek Jeter. He looked pissed when I snapped a picture, but then I told him I'm just a fan and he shrugged and winked. Make of that what you will.

I met Grant Hill once near the beginning of his career. Tayshaun Prince would frequent the Target I used to work at. Never really met him but he asked my friend where the cocoa butter was.

Your story is way better then my Cindy Crawford story. I also saw her in her prime, coming out of a port-o-potty after Cirque De Soleil; she didn't go in there for the bathroom, you could tell that she just jumped in there quickly to touch up her makeup and needed somewhere that no one could see her. Damn, those supermodels have to look perfect every second in public!

I met Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett), Jewel Staite, Morena Baccarin and Christina Hendricks (the last three at a convention, obviously). They were all very friendly, easy to talk to and generally lovely people.

I've met quite a few movie stars at movie press screenings, ive also met quite a few bands from back stage passes.

My favorite though was Jason Segel at a screening of Forgetting Sarah Marshall. His first line was, "well thats what my penis looks like". He also hit on my friend after she asked him to be her slap bet commissioner (she hit on him first).

Awesome and very humble guy.

i think it was my freshman year in high school and the school heard about heather whitestone (miss america) flying in at the airport and decided to take a field trip to meet her.

I shook her hand as she was walking by.

I met Ton Cruise long ago. I won some art award in DC, for some odd reason he was there to congratulate me and others. ?.

He is short, limp handshake, was sincere about being there.

I have a pic, I like to throw it out occasionally.

edit: ok. I also used to work in the same building where Rockafella was. Lets just say I may not have met, but saw pretty much everyone in the elevators on a daily basis, Dash, occasionally Jay, a lot of NBA players, models, etc.

I met Grant Hill once near the beginning of his career. Tayshaun Prince would frequent the Target I used to work at. Never really met him but he asked my friend where the cocoa butter was.
Once saw Prince getting out of a YELLOW CAB going to MACYS with some chick. I only stress that because that is very low class for someone like him. He looked seriously lost out there, it was hilarious.

Music
Pear Jam: awesome, and a really nice set of people.
Johnny Rotten: not a very nice petson, and just a bitter old man. For shame.

Gaming wise:
Shigeru Miyamoto - really humble
Hideo Kojima - the silent type
Suda 51 - loud

Rupert Loman (Eurogamer) - really nice guy
Edge editorial team - arrogant.

I get to go to the BAFTA's and IFTA's for the last 5 years so I've bumped into a few celebs. Have never met any really mean or bitchy celebs, unless you include people who work in Irish TV (but I don't count them). Though the weirdest/surrealist meeting would have been with Woody Allen, really nice guy, but super shy. didn't really want to chat about his films, but I mentioned that I had seen him in concert the last time I was in NYC and he smiled and said thanks.

Nicest:

Michael Fassbender - loves Guinness, nicest actor I've ever met. Have met up with him a good few times since in both London and Dublin.
Saorise Ronan - really down to earth and super nice
Jack Nicholson - personification of cool
Jennifer Lawerence - really nice
George Clooney - very nice and chatty about his films, even the bad ones.
Mark Kermode - chatted with him about his BBC Radio 5Live show and his latest book
Nigel Floyd - really nice guy, super knowledgeable about films
Paul Thomas Anderson - Kept to himself, but was nice when I said "hi" to him
Danial Day Lewis - very shy guy, very tall too. but very pleasent.
Hugh Jackman - really nice and chatted to everyone
Christoper Nolan - nice guy to talk to in general but when he talks about film he came across more intense.
Robin Wiliams - chatted more about games then his movies, was saying he was looking forward to BF3
James Cameron - said hi and we fist bumped, told him he was still "king of the world" (Avatar had just came out) and he smiled
Kathryn Bigalow - very nice lady
Russell Crowe - very cool dude, spent about 30 mins talking about Munster taking on the All Blacks in rugby and how he wanted to go the game in Limerick, but didn't know if his schedule would allow him.
Stephen Fry - he's exactly how you think he would be.

I don't usually take pics, but I do have a few on my PC.

Wow dude, congrats on winning the thread! Nice pics.

Hey, where's Sobriquet? He probably has some good ones, he seems to work with a lot of them .

she probably sharted.

I got to hang out with the members of Tool before and after their show. They were all awesome, especially Maynard.

I was on a flight with Ben Stein, only said hello. He was alone up front in first class and everyone walking back to coach was saying hello.

I was on another flight with Sonja Sohn, who played Kima on The Wire. She was also very nice, but it was a red eye flight and she looked pretty tired and probably just wanted to rest.

Buff Bagwell (WCW wrestler) in the airport during the NWO storyline and he was fully in character. Looked like he was having a great time.

Liberty Devitto (Billy Joel's drummer) gave me one of his drumsticks at the end of the concert.

I used to live down the street from Anthony Kiedis and Martin Sheen. I'd see them around but never talked to them.

I met Michael Madsen in the checkout line at the supermarket. He was really friendly with everyone who worked there, but he looked like he was absolutely plastered.

Oh and I met Diane Ladd a few weeks ago. She's really nice but she is way, way out there.

I used to work on the Fox and Warner Bros. studio lots and would see a lot of actors. Hugh Laurie, everyone from How I Married Your Mother, Lena Headey, Summer Glau, Kristin Chenoweth, probably others I didn't recognize. It's not nice to approach them while they're at work so I'd just go about my business.

pauljeremiah - I would lose my shit if I met Robin Williams.

Martha Stewart: Bitch
Anne Heche: Can't hold her liquor, doesn't eat and junked all over the little stones in the bathroom. :(
Brian Tee: Really cool guy. Easy to hang out with.
Masi Oka: Really sweet.
James Kyson Lee: Fun. Good at football.
Nelsan Ellis: Polite and well spoken (politely ate my dry Thanksgiving turkey and said complimentary things about it).
SUDA51: He is a silly man when you make him drink.

Stacy Keach - Was joking around with my dad that they looked alike. lol Real cool.
Chris Farley - Saw him at a restaurant on Hilton Head not long before he died. Was with about 3 or 4 women. Seemed to be having a good time.
Tyrone Wheatley - Super awesome guy, invited me and my friend to a cookout.
Tom Brady - When i was a kid and he must have been a freshmen or sophomore at the Michigan spring game. Him and his girlfriend were taking Polaroids for all the kids. My parents might still have it, he had long blonde hair at the time. lol
Scottie Pippen - Very standoffish. Seemed to avoided all people.
Edward Norton - Huge dick, shoved my cousin and made some kind of "I'm more important than you" comment getting onto the elevator.
Tyler Florence - Sat right behind him on a plane. Seemed pretty cool, was talking non stop with some guy he was with.

I want to meet Ellen Page one day and just fucking talk to her for hours. She's honestly the coolest actress in cinema imo. Hopefully she's just as cool off screen.

Anyone met her before?

I've heard the same second hand from extended family.

I got Jodie Sweetin's autograph, I guess that counts? I was like 10 years old, all I remember is she was cheese smiling with good endurance for each fan.

I think I ran into something in Manhattan around Rockefeller. Guy was in a suit completely covered in the subway. I don't think he wanted to be recognized.

Yeah, that's it. I probably ran into others because I live in Austin, but I just am not very familiar with pop culture. There are plenty of opportunities, I saw George Takei was giving out autographs recently....usually I don't care about celebrities but I did consider that. Dude's facebook page is hilarious.

Oh, and Faith Hill. No idea if she's famous still. She wasn't when I met her. She was a neighbor as she became famous and then moved.

Met Tom Cruise at his house just around the time his career really took off in the late 80s. My Uncle at the time was an architect and hired to do some remodeling on his house. I was only like 8 or 9 at the time. Was a really nice guy from what I can remember still have the autograph and a picture with him.

Ran into Levar Burton about 2 months after 9/11 and he was in town for a convention ended up having a few drinks with him and just chatted about various things. He was waiting for his wife to get into town because she doesn't or at least didn't at that point fly. Really nice guy.

Have met a bunch of others who were all very nice even people who have been reported to be real dicks. Must have just caught them at the right times.

The+Joy+Formidable.png

The Joy Formidable were cool when I met them. They each drew me a picture.

Matt - A giraffe in a pirate ship
Ritzy - A bunny rabbit
Rhydian - a caricature of Ritzy with giant bowl cut and perky nipples

That poster's one of my prized possessions.

Any chance you could take a photo of it?

I got a chance to meet Terry Brooks, who was my best friend and I's favorite author growing up, at a book signing. He was really chill to begin with, but the end of the encounter will always cement him as a really awesome dude.

I had brought two books to the signing for him to sign. One was to be for myself and the other was supposed to be for my best friend, who wasn't able to go to the signing because some family stuff had come up and he had to back out at the last minute. After chatting for a bit, we decided to get the book signing stuff out of the way. I reached into my bag and found out that one of the books had gotten misplaced at some point on the way to the signing. So, with just only one book, I asked him to go ahead and sign it for my friend, since it was more important that he got a signed copy because he couldn't be there and I'd always at least have the experience of having met the guy. We chatted some more and then I said my goodbyes because I figured somebody else should get a chance to hang out with the dude.

As I was walking off, Brooks called me back and said "Hey, good friendship like that shouldn't go unrewarded." He then pulled out a bookmark out of a book he had on hand and signed it for me.
