Thats not what I was saying, either. My point was that there would probably be plenty of people that weren't there to just talk about work, in which case the presence of some paid socialites wouldn't hurt a thing.I don't, that's a false characterization of what I'm saying. I was just responding to someone who asked why a person would want to do that, and you're arguing that shows an unreasonable work ethic or something along those lines.
I know what I'm arguing, but maybe got the wrong impression of what you were trying to say/do(which I'm still not 100% on)? You seemed to be taking the 'girls shouldn't be there, its a work-focused event' stance.Because you don't even know what you're arguing, and I'm trying to tie the ends together to show how silly the divergent arguments are.
You do know LOTS of clubs will hire girls to come in if they feel the balance is skewed too far into the man territory right? It's not lame and it's only embarrassing if you're feeling that way due to your own insecurities.
Wow, some of you act like you've never been to a rave/party or heard of clubs padding their dance floors with dancers to liven up the place, raise the energy level a bit.
Which considering the context (it's a nightclub and Skrillex and Diplo are playing simultaneously) this strikes me as more likely.Another twitterer seems to suggest women were being sneaked into the VIP area.
I guess my problem with this is how Minecraft only gets barebone updates every couple of months - if we're lucky, and yet they're paying strippers 300/hr. to pretend to be interested in their conversations?
What about all the things that the devs have promised would be integrated into MC that've been pushed back and pushed back and put on indefinite hold?
And then Notch moves onto Scrolls and his Space Sim Programming game 0x000 or something like that?
I'm starting to get the feeling that Notch got really lucky and became a millionaire on just the Alpha version of Minecraft, so now he's going to just keep starting projects, gathering money for them, and then "moving on" and dumping a B or C team in as soon as they hit a bare minimum of playability.
Dude, this was a rave, not a happy hour.
Was at the party. Half of S.F. was there. Party leaked in the city long ago. It was awesome.
Yeah! We paid 20 bucks for a game and this guy has the nerve to go to a party? He is getting laid and we're sitting here waiting for our updates. Makes me so mad...I guess my problem with this is how Minecraft only gets barebone updates every couple of months - if we're lucky, and yet they're paying strippers 300/hr. to pretend to be interested in their conversations?
Wait wait wait....so Notch had some lady dancers at a party? That's it?
What's....the problem here?
He didn't even do that. It was a rumor proved untrue. People are now just bickering about nothing. Like how all of these threads end.Wait wait wait....so Notch had some lady dancers at a party? That's it?

It's a shame, my bros band opened for Justice at the party, and the news coming out was about this instead of them

Wait, your bro is part of The M Machine?
If I was a (straight) man working in a female dominated industry, and I went to party where there were male hosts being paid to dance and socialise with the women, I would probably start questioning whether this industry was really 'for me'.
I don't think this is at all about the women or men being hired and dancing or whatever. I don't think I think it's about the messaging sent to people working in an industry with a minority gender.
@Babylonian @chadsalty so we had a room full of girls on phones back stage, or we paid girls to party in the VIP area? 100% false, dog.
@Babylonian you're not listening - we didn't pay girls.
@Babylonian we had servers roaming for drinks, hosts pointing out bathrooms and coat check, we had runners showing people in and out via VIP
Yes, and if you're interested in knowing which band member im brothers, with, just shoot me an PM
glad you enjoy their music though, and if you dislike their music, you're in the same boat as me (not a big EDM fan)
You know, its sad that you've said this almost 10 times on the first page of this topic, still people aren't "getting" it. Granted the whole thing was a rumour but still I'm surprised that people aren't getting why some, especially women, wouldn't find it to be in bad taste.

Nothing wrong with hiring strippers for a party. I wouldn't do it myself, but whatever.
I don't blame them at all, I'm questioning the indifference some express to the fact these kind of job exists.
Been in a few VG conferences and that's just plain embarrassing. It makes me ashamed to be a part of this community. This is just so lame on every level, and both for the girls and the attendees.
This is not a big deal.
No of course, but being hired only to be "appreciated" by lame guys too socially awkward to meet actual girls, that's pretty much objectification in my book.
I don't think it is appropriate to hire dancers at a party. You know, if your party don't suck people will dance for themselves.
Ah, I see. So not much different when they let girls into a club for free.We are ankle deep only, this can't be the end!
That's not how it works (assuming you are not talking about escorts).
They pay the rate for a person to stay at the party (for 2 hours usually), to do what they would do for free... party. Why? Because attractive people and a perceptually "fun" party attracts more customers. They are not obliged to entertain or "endure" the patrons. They are party fodder. Of course, there are some calls for more specific purposes too, like when there is a "celebrity" in a vip area, so they "embelish" it to please the individual. But still, no "enduring".
If you are talking about escorts (or prostitutes), then you'd have a Cable Guy situation there. ;P
And they don't have to endure you either.
Look, the reality is this line of work isn't going to help your last 30's/early 40's. Then what are these people supposed to do with their lives? Just marry a rich man and perpetuate another stereotype about women? We should be helping women get better jobs and have better lives.
Oh boy, she just put her foot in her mouth.

"A lot of ppl noticed an inordinate amount of extremely hot women in the VIP area."
Sounds like she's never been to a club before.
I'm in stitches."A lot of ppl noticed an inordinate amount of extremely hot women in the VIP area."

Haha.
It was a fucking party.
It's incredible that there are a few people outraged by this.
I'm in stitches.
