Facebook election meltdowns and tasty, salty tears |OT|

I had to hide a lot of old friends from Louisiana last. Their posts were ridiculous, half we about "god's plan", the other two quarters are about "throwing away out future" and moving away. I'm tired of all the politics on both sides.. Got into it with a girl the other day who posted "I'm not going to tell you who to vote for, but vote for Obama". Can't stand it.

My favorite part of the election season. Whipped this up in honor of the thread.

I got a MMS message from my mother this morning that read "Hello Obama 4 more years, goodbye house, can you tell I'm upset" with a picture of the lake house I grew up in with the flag flying at half mast.

The hint that she was going to sell the lake house I grew up in if Obama was elected came about 4 months ago. I don't know if she'll go through with it but the intent is definitely there.

The property itself has been in my family since the early 20's. It's the house I was brought home to when I was born and planned to buy from her at some point in the not very distant future.

Quite honestly the message nearly made me cry. At her ignorance and the general end of the world reaction that people have had during this election. I don't remember people ever having an outlet like Facebook or texting etc to screach out their angry brain-farts but I also don't remember this strong a reaction in general. And for some reason this message from her really got to me.

This is a woman that drove around with no less than 3 magnet flags & ribbons all over her car after 9/11, was all flag-waving hooray patriotic for the 8 or so years following it.

I love her dearly, but for fuck's sake. This half-mast shit makes me want to die.

And just in general at the Facebook crap, even YouTube... Honestly at what point does some of this actually make the Secret Service go ... "ok motherfucker... the fuck did you mean by that exactly" because even on my average-ass-average Facebook, I see stuff that rides the line between free speech and threatening the President's life.

This is amazing. Absolutely amazing.

Jesus. I'm only halfway through but she won't stop cursing because people didn't "like" and share her FB posts (links anyone?) and now "look what's happened" - she HONESTLY seems to think her Facebook could have helped Romney win.

And Obama actually won the popular vote? Making Trump seem even more idiotic? This is too good to be true.

Only comment on Facebook that disappointed me was this:

He's Swiss but come on.

He is right though. It's amazing the amount of money we have to piss away on a glorified popularity contest. Super PAC's and campaign funding was one of the bigger secondary issues talked about during this campaign.

Limbaugh can't decide why they lost; whether it was the uppity women and minorities, or the lazy moochers, or media bias, or that darned hurricane Sandy that changed everything at the last minute.

Couldn't possibly have been due to the lackluster candidate and a terrible choice for a running mate.

To be fair, she's telling people with crazy conspiracy theories to stop making conservatives look bad. She later calls birthers out too.
Yeah, I dunno, ever since Jeff from the Giantbombcast started talking about Chem Trails, I find every instance of them freaking hilarious.

What is the probability that she lives in a trailer by just looking around here "command center"?

I agree with that part but not the underlying message, as if it doesn't concern anybody outside of the USA who's sitting in the White House now and that both parties are the same. It's a popular view among many of my friends and it's getting annoying tbh.

God are there any level headed reactions from Republicans? I can understand being disapointed but damn. They are not even specific with what they think is going to go terribly wrong with a 2nd term for Obama. I would be more understanding if some were concerned with <insert specific policy here>, but all I've been reading is shit about "MaRxist!!!@!, SocialiSM!!!, End of AMuriCa!!!"
It's very disturbing and unsettling.

Let alone that the president has to spend more time on campaigning than actually leading during the last year of his term.

What is her rationalization for having to sell this house?

Some of the cognitive dissonance is amazing.

"Obama was reelected, nobody will be able to get a job! Unemployment will skyrocket"

followed by "lol fuck foodstamps and obamacare, I don't want my money to enable lazy."

Are people implying that Obama simply being in office makes people lazy? Or do they realize that some people just can't find jobs despite putting in the effort, but don't care enough to help these people during times of need?

I messaged that crazy youtube lady.
My message.

Hey

Just wanted to let you know that the internet was developed initially by the US military and government through 'socialist' taxes. Pretty much the same situation is how our modern electricity systems you use to utilize said internet.

Anyway, hope you feel better. Take care.

I'll post the response.

She does not need to sell the house. She's 67. She is completely taken care of financially. Her ignorant, unpatriotic and embarrassing reaction to the whole thing makes me want to puke and cry at the same time because I love her.
