Bleed Me Dry is turning out to be a fun sidequest. It starts at The Thorn, which is in Westside. You wind up going to the farther reaches of the map on hunting expeditions and each time the creatures get bigger and tougher.

Fire Geckos down. I wonder what's next?

Just wait till you reach the final task!

It's worth it, at least in my heavily biased opinion.

NCR is threatening to send some goons to kill me if I don't improve my rep with them. Do I go to NCR NPCs and do quests for them to fix this?

If you don't intend to side with them by the end of the game I wouldn't bother, when you reach a certain point the big factions will turn on you if you're not allied with them.

You should try to do what you can to improve your NCR reputation because A LOT of quests come from the NCR. They also hold big properties that are full of stuff. If they are Neutral towards you, they may start shooting at you. That's when one thing leads to another and you either wind up running from them - which is obviously annoying - or defending yourself, in which case you will fall into Shunned and Hated territory real quick.

It's still playable if the NCR hates you (they hate my character) but I'm at Level 25 and I am finding the quest list to be a little thin at this point.

I completely forgot about the quest in Thorn. Time to get on it! :D

Edit: Do you indeed get to end up
sleeping with that crazy Thunderdome woman?
:lol

Not just sleeping with her, but you get full blown sound with it also when the screen turns black, just make sure no one is around when it happens, they may think you are watching a porno or something
:lol

It's brief though, lasts only about 5 to 10 seconds, but it was a shock when it first happened, couldn't believe they did that in a Fallout game.

I don't think the PC version makes sounds

In my hunt for rare weapons, I just recently completed this quest (for the Dinner Bell). Even though my character is a female, Lucy still called me Daddy while we got it on. :lol

FFS I get at LEAST one total freeze on the ps3 version on my new slim per day and It's really pissing me off. I'm just wandering around trying to get a few more levels and 3-4 times in the last two days I've had to re-do a good section of time. I heard the ps3 version was pretty stable but I'm amazed at the bugs I've seen. I really love the game but it doesn't matter when shit like that keeps ruining the gameplay. errrr

I'm already in shunned territory with them; gonna try to fix it if i can. if i can't, fuck them, i'll kill whoever comes after me then dance on their grave!

So was there a patch that adjusted weapon damage and such?

The most recent patch altered a lot of stuff. Most noticeably it nerfed the sniper rifle/Gobi Campaign rifle and added armor piercing to energy weapon ammo

I'm a few hours into this game (doing stuff at Primm right now) and I must say it's really easy. I remember Fallout 3 got harder when you had to start fighting heavy mutants... so far, New Vegas is a cakewalk. Note that I did NOT do hardcore mode or whatever that is.

Also, does this game have hidden bobbleheads like Fallout 3 did? I notice they have the skill magazines/books.

Is there a link to the patch notes and such?

I just got this game about two weeks ago and I have already put 30 hours into it. I've played 150 hours of FO3. I ran into my first crash just recently, it was loading Camp McCarran when I was leaving after getting the Vault 22 quest. I noticed the game slowed down and struggled with the load when I first entered the Camp, should have saved but didn't.

I turned off Save on Travel because ever since Oblivion introduced it, it has always caused me problems with strange saves that lead to awful situations. I had it on in New Vegas for a little while until I had an auto-save that was right outside a cave with 5 Deathclaws waiting to murder ED-E, Boone and myself. I quickly turned it off and have been trying to save it manually every 15 mins.

I think I am 30 mins back after the crash and have to get the Vault 22 Quest all over again. I'm liking it so far, it definitely feels like an expansion, but I loved FO3, and my friend who got it for me only payed $30, so it's perfectly fine with me. I'm playing on Hardcore Mode for my first playthrough because it's not really a first playthrough because I played so much FO3 and have lots of experience. Hardcore isn't too hard, I like to manage my inventory and keep it light in general (I sneak most of the time) so the ammo weight isn't much of an issue. Food and Water is also no problem since I like to heal with food and water anyway.

I haven't even gone into Vegas yet, I have explored the Mojave pretty extensively and there is still plenty to see around the Northern part of the map. Collecting weapons and leveling, it also helps for fast traveling to the inevitable quest that will be a part of the majority of discovered locations later.

I finished New Vegas the other day. Spent about 40 hours and loved it. Just as buggy as the PS3 version of Fallout 3 however. I still love both games, but this is THE BUGGIEST series of games I've ever played. PC version must have crashed a good 50-60 times which is about equal to my PS3 Fallout 3 experience.

The bugs almost add to the experience. You never know what may happen, NPC Ai freaking out, disappearing, caught in scenery. I love how I got caught between the stairs and the wall in both Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

For me, Fallout is exactly what an RPG should be. Can either battle or negotiate through fights and run into dozens of unique characters all trying to survive in the wasteland.

It doesn't make sense to turn off auto-save. I'm not sure if it's the same on consoles, but on PC you have an auto-save slot, a quick save slot and 1000(?) regular save slots. Leaving auto save on ensures you never lose much progress after a crash unless you're manually traveling the mojave without entering any buildings. Even then, quicksaving (f5) every once in awhile keeps you from losing much, if any, progress.

The way I personally handled my saves was to rely on autosaves, but quicksave before and after major branches of whatever quest I was on and using normal saves anytime I returned to my house and/or finished playing for the night.

I barely got any crashes during my playthrough (I'd say maybe 4 or 5 total), but when I did I never lost more than a minute of progress.

I'm playing on 360, and yes there are plenty of save slots, but I just don't want to deal with the slight hiccup every time it auto-saves. I also don't want to be tempted to try to tough it out through a bad auto-save like I did for the Deathclaw fuck fest I got myself into. I ended up wasting 30 mins trying to escape instead of just loading an older save.

There is no quick save slot on console, but it doesn't take too long regardless.

Just got this. How many hours does it take to finish the main quest?

If you just wanted to get to the ending? Maybe 10 hours, and that's including time to level up. But there's so much extra stuff to do.

I´ve been playing for a while, and just realized, I haven´t started the For The Republic quest line. Where/how do I do that?

At the NCR embassy on the Strip. Eventually you will carry on the quest at Hoover Dam once you've completed the first few steps.

So I assume that the NCRCF would've been a town if I sided with them over Goodsprings, because there are a lot of named NPCs there that went hostile on me due to being vilified by the Powder Gang.

Doesn't it usually save before you travel, not afterwards?

Yes it does.
If you go from indoors to outdoors, it will auto-save, and if there are a bunch of enemies spawned right outside when you exit, you are screwed. That is what happened with me at a Deathclaw cave, I saw that it was filled with them, left and there were five right out the door. The game auto-saved right before they all turned to attack me and my companions.

I'm ready to head to the
dam; I sided with the Yes Man.
Anything I should take care of before? The game warned me and gave me vibes that I could screw up sidequests if I continue.

It's a one way trip. Once you go, theres no going back and the game ends once it's finished. So if you have anything you want to do before you head off, now's the time to do it.

Also, create a new save if you absolutely have to save your progress during the dam portions.

Aw shit seriously? Well, glad I asked. Thanks.

Is it because there's some major changes that the developers couldn't be arsed to change around the world? Well, I guess I'll find out. :lol

Going through my second run (hardcore, trying the speed run that's been posted online) and my game has crashed about 10 times now when I am in the Tops after I get my weapons taken away. It's like it knows I'm going to
fuck Benny up
. I know the game is buggy, but this is ridiculous.

Not long since i started this and i'm in Primm and just about to get them a sherrif, i'm playing in hardcore mode and just have a quick question. Whats the easiest way to get my HP back up? sleeping obviously doesn't work!

Early in the game, you'll probably do most of your health restoration with Sunset Sarsaparilla. They're everywhere, and restore a good 50 health by the time they wear off.

I usually quick travel back to the doc that first healed you. Also, take everything in his house that's not nailed down since it's not marked as stealing for them.

SO at this point I just don't know what to do. I'm unable to finish the game with this current glitch.

I guessing you could probably cheat to make yourself invincible to pass that section?

I've finally made it to the strip at 54 hours in and level 25. I have to say looking back it now I really wish I had come to the strip earlier as I'm feeling pretty powerful and I'm finding that most of the places the quests direct me too I already found on my own. I kept asking myslef as I found them how anyone else would ever stumble up on them and I guess now I know.

I'm thinking about playing the sides off of each other for as long as I can.

This mod looks spectacular:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juMWKWR_BCo

adds the following:

- Helmets, Visors, Masks, and Goggles alter the hud
- Heat Vision and Night Vision visor upgrades
- Dynamic Crosshair
- Sprint and Tackle
- Zoom in scopes
- Grenade Hotkey
- Bullet Time

basically what was done for FO3 but with some funky additions like heat vision and ram into enemies option.
