I think what is being missed is that this used to happen all the time; different people posting, trying to be first, uncommon formatting, different thread titles, etc. It led to less-than-stellar results and squelched the quality of discussion that we're having now.

I wonder if SO4 will put 360 ahead of PS3 again, in any case the Japanese gamers are finally getting their next-gen fix with the upcoming library of JRPG's.

With those numbers I guess that SCE is going to ramp up their PSP support in 09.

And the DS really pulled some nice hardware numbers over the week. As for Wii and PSP, I wonder which of the two will lead in 2009.

It depends, Nintendo issued a statement at the start of last year that they were pulling resources from DS projects to make more Wii games. If Sony decides to use the PSP to pull the Sony bandwagon(just like the GameBoy Advance carried Nintendo during the GameCube days) than it'll be an interesting competition.

And some people were still thinking (in December) that Dissidia would help PSP to get higher 2008 sales than DS.

I think jimbo had it right when he predicted a sustained uptick..but I believe he also predicted a much bigger holiday increase than it is experiencing.

Bad release timing, probably. Canvas Curse is a lot more interesting than Squeak Squad (IMO), but its user base was smaller when it was first released.

DS vs PSP: Weekly shares of 67.4 / 32.6 bring total shares to 69.0 / 31.0. If DS stopped selling and PSP continued at this week's rate, it would catch up in 116.4 weeks (March 23, 2011).

X360 vs PS3: Weekly shares of 22.1 / 77.9 bring total shares to 24.0 / 76.0. If PS3 stopped selling and X360 continued at this week's rate, it would catch up in 137.8 weeks (August 20, 2011).

PS3 vs Wii: Weekly shares of 25.4 / 74.6 bring total shares to 26.0 / 74.0. If Wii stopped selling and PS3 continued at this week's rate, it would catch up in 105.6 weeks (January 7, 2011).

PSP vs Wii: At this week's rates, Wii catches up to PSP in 235.6 weeks (July 5, 2013). If PSP stopped selling and Wii continued at this week's rate, it would catch up in 28.3 weeks (July 14, 2009).


Week over week consoles were up and portables down, with PSP's change being the most noticeable.
