God Eater 3 for Switch opens at 20,960 retail sales.

Famitsu has published its estimated physical game software and hardware sales data for Japan for the week of July 7, 2019 to July 14, 2019.

The only new release to chart in the top 10 was the Switch version of God Eater 3, which launched at 20,960 retail sales. To compare, the PlayStation 4 version launched at 150,523 retail sales back in December 2018.

On the hardware side, the ongoing Switch “3,000 Yen Coupon Present Campaign” has helped pushed Switch another 55,823 units, while the PlayStation 4 family sold 10,941 units and the 3DS family sold 2,361 units.

I wonder if the Japanese Xbox fans have a super tight-knit community. Maybe all the cool kids there buy Xbox consoles, just to be different from the crowd.

Makes sense though. There’s isn’t any Xbox game that’s appealing to the Japanese that isn’t releasing on other platforms. Xbox must up their game and bring back the good old JRPGs days

It will be interesting to see how much effort they put in to marketing the next gen Xbox in Japan. They made a big push with the original and the 360;not so much this gen.
