FAST Racing Neo - ingame screenshots (Wii U)

Lookin good. Very curious to see how this one pans out. The only racing games I enjoy are ones like this so... it's been a while.

Interesting good looking Wii U game has an update with new pictures, half the thread wishes it was on their preferred console. I can't wait for E3, Shin'en have been quiet for so long on this

I don't think it's unlikely for this to appear on PS4 and I actually think it'd be cool if our PS4 brahs could play it too. But yeah, this is why port begging is not allowed - it dominates threads heavily and leaves no room for actual discussion.

Nintendo should buy Shin'en, because you're right.

That level of talent with Nintendo's guiding hand and budget would be a great match.

Shin'en deserves a boost in the art and creativity departments.

God damn it that would be amazing.

Look like the screenshots are taken from a photo mode where you can add things like motion blur. I dont think that the game will have that much motion blur in-game at least.

or maybe when you push the boost button it blurs like a normal racing game... just a thought

edit: 1st pic looks about right ... 3rd pic looks like its in boost mode

This happens in every Wii U game exclusive thread, so frustrating.

Didn't someone ask the devs about the framerate in 4 player? I am guessing it is 30fps like mk8.

Nintendo doesn't like buyong studios cause you are just buying the name most of the time, I would rather Nintendo contract them on an Excitetruck sequel or something. Plus with Nintendo guidance they could really produce something special.

Either way they seem to understand the technology better than most devs... Nintendo would do well to partner with OR buy them... having another team at their disposal would be great for them... probably better for shin'en to partner rather than be bought... but you never know.

Sense of speed and track design are hugely important for a game like this.

I really enjoy the technical expertise these guys have brought to pretty much every game they've made, but I'm not 100% convinced this'll be the Wipeout game we're all hoping for.

Seeing a game like this in screenshots does nothing for me, it's all about that sense of speed and solid race mechanics.

Looking forward to see more gameplay of this, might just get it to fill the lack of F-Zero in my life.

I'm not hoping for one. Neither an F-Zero like game. The whole premise of the first one with the black and white zones and different gravities made for a different kind of game already.

If this one is just "that" with prettier visuals it would be great to me.

But agree that this kind of game are better shown on videos. Still screens of something about speed don't do much, though looks great at least.

As always Shin'en worked their magic.
This could fill the void until the Wipeout spiritual successor Formula Fusion drops.

Wondering if this will go Wipeout or F-Zero route. Hopefully they go F-Zero, with the sense of speed and crazy courses and all, and so that Captain Falcon and the Blue Falcon make a special guest appearance.

Also I hope they get a better UI, that one looks really plain and boring. Also, it's weird for them to separate the boost meter from the speed.

I think it might be 60 fps in 4 player. One of the reasons for the 30 fps on MK8 is the huge amount of animations that happens around the stages. For more static surroundings, I guess it would leave more room for higher frame rates.

4 Pages and already turned into a port begging thread jeez. How much do you want to bet if this was a PS4 exclusive there wouldn't be anywhere near as much port begging.

It would be great if this was part of the Nintendo Digital Event at E3. I'd like to see it in motion before drawing any conclusions.

OH god. what if they work with Nintendo and have Amiibo support? And you scan Captain Falcon and you get the Blue Falcon?

Well yeah there's a shitload more PS4's out there so probably. Not exactly going out on a limb there.

Sales numbers dont have anything to do with port begging, its the principle of the thing. it was talked extensively in the Dragon Quest 8 and Monster Hunter thread how while theres definitely a section of Nintendo fans feel the whole "Us against the world, we got an exclusive and we deserve it" mentality theres a mentality with a section of Sony fans where "We deserve every game ever. Anything less is an aberration of the game industry." You see DQHeroes as a Sony exclusive and silence. You get DQ8 remake as a Nintendo exclusive and you've got Port Begging bans littering the first 3 pages alone. Sony fans jeered at Xbox fans when Rise of the Tomb Raiders "exclusivity" was realized to be a timed exclusive. But then on the other end of the spectrum games like Persona 5 are just "expected" to be exclusive to Sony so theres no crowd of opposers.

I don't really care. I was speaking about the sales numbers, not any dumb principle. "Port begging" is about people wanting a game that is not on their system of choice to be on their system of choice, so it stands to reason that there is going to be less "port begging" of games from PS4 than to PS4 because PS4 has the largest userbase. It's dumb either way (port begging that is), I was just pointing out that statistically speaking your assertion was a pretty obvious one.

Wii U? I dont have anything against the console, but I predict it's gonna is not going to make a lot of money.
I like you you tried to hide the stealth insult with "is not going to make a lot of money".

I take it you haven't even heard of Shin'En's previous works huh?

The disappointment that rushed through my bones when I saw this was a WiiU title.

The hate for Wii-U/port-begging is intense.

FRL was made pretty much as a follow up to FAST Racing League on the Wii, which was more like partial-tech demo to demonstrate the console's TEV rendering capabilities.

Prior to that they made Iridion 3D and Iridion II for the GBA. It has to be seen (and heard) to be believed.

The disappointment that rushed through my bones when I realized that you're missing out on a lot of great games. Shin en is known for making quality games on Nintendo systems so it shouldn't be a surprise
