Favorite Anime Trope?

1 Talking and having meaningful conversations whilst in fierce battle.

2 As above and being able to hear each other many meters away.

Love that shit.

Someone being punched into the stratosphere, disappearing in the sky and then *ting*

I was trying to think of one but then you made this post and I instantly agree.

Immediately thought of this moment and how amazing it was seeing nomu get launched into the stratosphere

It's a medieval world but instead of knighthood and landed nobility there are mecha pilots
You could also put Code Geass under that umbrella. It's a modern world with an old aristocratic style with mechs that serve the royalty.

you thought you won, but you actually did exactly what I wanted you to do, and now I won

Anime masterminds have to be my favorite kind of character. It's always so delightful to find out what their ultimate keikakus were.

Fu(k it, I love me some power of friendship/power of love super power-ups.

That $hit never gets old in Fairy Tail!

That and playing different variations (Metroid is right) of the theme music during intense parts of the anime...

Character is in some kind of a pinch, background goes dark and time slows down, character is then given several minutes worth of complex thinking to respond to something thats happening seconds.

Having something incredible happen and then somebody gives a play by play. (Cause sometimes I really do need it.)

A character split screen where the left half of one character's face is paired with the right half of the other one's face.

Ensemble shots of the main cast. Whether it be a split screen, a group pose, or them running in the same direction in the opening.

Hammy narrators

Hammy characters who never stop shouting about JUSTICE!

Flamboyant and dandy male characters who can flip between comic relief and seriously cool as though it were a switch. (Bonus points if they carry a rose.)

Large and scary-looking characters that everyone is afraid of, but when you talk to them they end up being one the most peaceful and adorable members of the cast.

"You go on ahead, leave this to me." Especially with "I always wanted to say that" at the end.

Characters who have a hard time holding back.

Powers with strictly defined rulesets that can be used in clever ways and never truly completely break the bounds of that rule set.

Nen and Stands are my favorite by far. I also like the Death Note rules and how you can manipulate them.

They need to be defined very clearly though, which is why I don't usually enjoy stuff like Ki from DBZ or quirks because of how minimally explained their innate mechanics are.

-training arc
-tournament arc
-the hero/someone inherithed an ability
-the theme of passing the torch to the next generation
-opening/ending playing during an epic fight
