FF Versus not going to be at TGS

word.
i think i'm absolutely done with square enix, buying Versus used, they're not getting my first hand sale. i'm sick of this garbage, and when the 3rd 13 spinoff sells less than the previous and they still decide to do a 4th, maybe then people will understand the depths of Square enix's cluelessness.

Yeah, I no longer care about Versus anymore. If they finally decide to release it one day, then I'll care again. Until then, I'm just going to keep it out of my mind, and side-eye all these Lightning sequels S-E just loves to put out. *sigh* I miss Squaresoft.

It seems that Squarenix have decided to suicide what it was once their most sucessful franchise. As a ff fan, this is both horrible and fascinating.

noctis oji :'(

I thought this year would be the year something would be shown. I guess it'll be out in 2014.

KH2 team, Shimomura OST in a FF game....man this game is going to be great. The wait though... ridiculous.

this is horrible, absolutely horrible, no versus news, no FFX HD news, and my most hated game FFXIII and XIV are being having more attention to them... why!!!!!!!!! :(

Please enlighten me as to the game design problem. Last Guardian's is the AI. DNF had issues where they kept playing catch-up. There is nothing inherent shown so far that would explain this delay on a game design front. Most likely they have a very small crew working on this while the extreme bulk is on 13-3 and 14.

Right, so you think the playable stuff that we've seen was done by a very small crew? Come the hell on. Square Enix don't just have one team. FFX, FFXI, KH1 and FFXII were all done by separate teams, so why the hell would that be different now? And while there'll obviously be people moved around the company, there's no chance any of their major projects (XIV, LR, Versus and XV) just have skeleton crews, especially when development has been taking this long.

As for the design problems, how exactly am I meant to know? The fact that they completely changed the way the world map worked years into development should tell us plenty though.

The world map is fine, seeing as it's complete.

We know that.

I'm ok with this, Lightning Returns seems cool enough for me to forget about Versus for another year or so.

Is this game made by the same team that said it would take, like, 12 years to remake FF VII because of HD villages?

Great, now my lsat hope for TGS will be P5:(

If Index/Atlus announces P5, :

Just give it up people. Erase its existence from your mind. It's best not to think about Versus at all.

EDIT: Grammar.

"We can't show it, it's now FF XIII-2 time"

"We can't show it, it's now Kingdom hearts 3D time"

"We can't show it, it's now FF XIII-3 time"

"We can't show it, it's now FF XIV expansion time"

"We can't show it, it's now FF XV time"

...ad infinitum

Wait guys, what if he said it on purpose so we get one megaton of a surprise: gameplay and story trailer, release date,
platforms :(...

Who am I kidding? Screw you, 和田くん. XD

Currently swimming in hapiness.

the common thread between all the people who actually like FF13 is what is rapidly killing the final fantasy for everyone else, there was once a mass appeal to the series, but with each new iteration its slipping away. Its unfortunate that this has to be the one final fantasy they decide to make a female the main character of, i loathe the character and design, something like Nariko from heavenly sword defecates all over lightning.

Lets focus on the one Final Fantasy game that single handedly helped to tarnish the FF name and make people like it!

There isn't a single FF that isn't super divisive. FFXIII (and to some extent XII) just happen to be more divisive, one reason being they're focusing on it for an entire generation.

divisive=/=appeal, regardless, they all were widely accepted save for a couple of characters, this one though has amajorly tepid reception, yet spawns the most spinoffs in the least amount of time.

Goddamnit. Square is such a joke. I was hoping to see some change after that quote about winning back their fans' trust.

Yep

"We have many charts and numbers that say you'll buy this, so we're going to sell it to you. We couldn't give a fuck about what you actually think or want"

I just... Seriously. What are they doing? Just announce that it's being delayed at this point. Even that would make them look somewhat competent at this point.

The worst publisher this generation. Almost as bad as Capcom who at least shells out its games no matter how shitty they are.

They're a good publisher (Deux Ex, Sleeping Dogs, Nier). Its the games they develop internally that end up as practical garbage.

Didn't translate the other part since it's a little bit unclear to me, but all in all, we should wait until next year for new Versus info. :/

"I was told that it's in development, so I should look forward to it next year. lolol I'm hoping for a secret trailer or something, but... lolol"

That's what I thought, haha. Thanks. :D
Still have to work on dem understanding skills. :D

I still think that something will be shown at TGS, but probably behind closed doors.

Wow, what a troll show. Little did we know that this game was not ever gonna come out till next gen. I feel a bit sorry for the people who are still waiting and thinking about it everyday.

I'm curious, why is everyone so excited about Versus? What exactly have they shown that would get people so hyped that it has elevated to near-mythic levels on the level of Half-Life 3? All I've seen is a single screenshot of some Yakuza-themed men in a city.

Based on what very little we know about the game, I have no idea either. It's hard for me to wrap my head around how people can extrapolate so much from like, 1 trailer with little gameplay footage and one CG trailer with a Shimomura piece. I'm not entirely sure where everyone is getting these ideas of invoking the Final Fantasy name outside of the already present in every game "Light vs Dark"; it's just that this game is literal with with concept in character name.

Also, the previous footage of the battle system looked rather bland and uninspired, like a really slow Kingdom Hearts that moved at the pace of the opening battles of FFXII. The only real thing to be excited from on that trailer honestly was the environmental work, which looked like it had a lot of variation, and the IQ, which was very clean. The character design also looks neat because it's relatively modern day, and suits look classy.

Outside of that, we know near nothing about any of the characters outside of their generic cereal-box descriptions (I mean seriously, so can sum them up with back-of-the-box quotes with all the information we know), and it's really funny to see people make up character stories or have whole ideas about characters based on 1 paragraph's worth of tidbits.

Given all the information we have now, the game could end up being the worst game ever created for all we know, but people seem to blindly believe that it will be the game to end all games, based on relatively baseless assumption. I personally am going to stay skeptical about the game until the floodgates actually open on information, and because it's a game with so many unknowns, I have honestly zero expectations for this game because it's a clean slate.

Uh, maybe read some interviews about the game design?

There's certainly been a lot more said about Versus compared to Lightning Returns, which some people have no problem busting a nut over in that other thread.

Link me those details about the game design.

Next year we will start hearing about it, it wouldn't surprise me if its a cross gen title and launches alongside the next consoles.

We know that.

Uh, what? My point was that if they had to completely redesign that aspect, chances are they ran into a lot of other pretty big troubles and that's why it's been taking so long. Because they've been constantly redesigning aspects that they don't think worked.
