It looks fine and plays great. Characters look cool, but I feel like more could have been done for the background. The clearer visuals make the characters stand out but make the background look fake. Also, there's some odd frame-rate drops in story cutscenes. Don't know why that is.

watching KI at spooky stream made me see things a bit better. the combo breakers being often are there but its to be expected. There is footsies with certain characters. I feel like Thunder is all yolo jump or armor move. Its not like zangief where zangief plays footsies with the threat of spd.

I think the 8th character releases in March although I am not sure what you mean by complete since that could mean Season 2 and beyond as well. Could take over a year to complete if not even more.

If I had a Xbox One I would probably get KI for 20 bucks.

When was the last time a fighting game was releasing and everyone expected it to be awful? It seems like every game gets a ton of pre-release hype regardless of actual quality or interest. Every anime game is going to reach those Guilty Gear highs and attract all those anime casuals, every super-flashy game is going to attract that COD crowd, and every re-release is the first step towards a full revival. I suppose extreme positivity is better than negativity.

Just some 360 ports, another Capcom outsourcing adventure, Killer Instinct, and a QTE game that people are inexplicably hyped for because it's a console exclusive.

It's the first lazy port of the next generation, anyways. Maybe even the laziest up-port of all the games that got up-ports.

I get where Kadey is coming from. A lot of good franchises either skipped games or simply went straight downhill. I now realize how spoiled I was when I first got a PS2 in 2001... I was playing MGS2, DMC1, TTT, GTA3 and GT3... each of them are now considered classics. Neither the 360 nor the PS3 had something like that within the first year, the closest was Gears of War. I don't think the PS4/Xbox One will have that either. Maybe I am just a fan of mostly these Japanese big budget series but man have they fell far. The 3 party Japanese crowning achievement this generation is by far the Souls games and after that it falls off hard.

I think what people need this gen is that sort of crowning moment where people realize how big of a step forward it really is. Right now there's a lot of the "oh, guess Most Wanted on 360 doesn't look that different from the Xbox version after all!" so people are selling things a bit short looking at unoptimized and rushed ports, and primarily judging things over resolution. You see all of these threads popping up with people asking for what resolution a game is, and they don't even care for impressions of whether it looks good or it runs smoothly.

Once this gen get's it's Gears of War, Bioshock, Motorstorm or Uncharted, people will take notice. IMO looking at the next gen screenshots thread is already impressing me with how clean some of those Killzone screenshots are and how realistic some of those faces look. Now imagine a few years of polish when we're looking at Agni's Philosophy-quality faces.

Depends on who you ask, really.

I would say SFxTK fulfills that criteria. Everyone knew it was going to be bad, and it was. Then suddenly all the peripheral stuff like pro players being geeked off of playing it early and just saying everything about it is stupendous and Cross Assault made people give it a chance. Then they all got to attacking the pro players.

I don't think Killer Instinct is like that though, there's a ton of excitement over it, just probably not here.

I don't think this is going to be a Twitch rival ... at least not yet. Seems more like their own broadcast/TV platform. They tested it out for a recent even (MLG Anaheim?) and the quality was way better than anything I've seen on Twitch, so hopefully they can maintain that.

Trust me, it really is amazing and as soon as you sit down and think about it, you'll know exactly why everybody is hyped about how well the words come together.

MLG can barely build a site, I don't have high hopes for a streaming service/network, that's also proprietary and made for the purpose of squeezing more ad dollars out of you with nothing really else to add.
