FFXII has a section where you find in Halo 2's Coagulation? Good eyes with that screen, btw.

That sounds awesome. Can't wait for it.

I hope the dotted lines mentioned are just in the demo and not in the final game. Arbitrary boundries like that suck.

OMG, the video preview is awesome!! I'm conflicted though, on the one hand I loved the battle system in FFXI, but knowing it's a single-player game I think I'll probably use the wait mode, as I like the FFXI system because there at least I know there's an actual human behind the other characters (admittedly, many of them probably play worse than any AI character would have :D ).

It looks awesome though - a to scale overworld like an MMORPG, day/night cycles (unconfirmed?), and POSSIBLY a story that doesn't become some metaphysical gaia nonsense = insant buy for me. Hopefully they're adding in code hooks to let the PS3 enhance the graphics. :)

Anyone else notice that summoned monsters are called Esper's again?

Look at the preview video when going through the menu to select "Summon".

With Matsuno heading most the game development, it will probably turn out to be political with a nice amount of metaphysical (which is very cool). Makes the world your playing in feel more solid and what your doing in the game feel more important. Plus I can't wait to see the role the Judges play. Possibly political figues?

There is a point when I get excited for a Final Fantasy game...were I get that tingly sensation bringing back all those fond memories of past Final Fantasy experiences. After watching that intro video to FFXII it made me feel like that. This game is going to be Epic.

The Judges look so badass. :lol @ the cliched Armegeddon all walking in formation scene. It looked cool though.

That's pretty much the reason i'm interested in it. Even with the battle system there's really nothing like a new FF when it comes to RPG's.

I've plyaed 10 or so hours of KOTOR and all it is the whole game is hit the enemy until it dies. I don't want FF to have that.

....what? Sarcasm? That's all the FF's have ever been. They're way more dumb than KotOR. :lol

just saw the FFXII preview, looking very nice.. this game gets my attention back.

I really dig the charachter designs, beside Vaan.

So this demo proves that Square Enix is translating the Japanese version and doing the voice work right now instead of waiting for the Jpn version to finish.

It looks awesome! There goes another $50 :(

I swear to Mario, you better be joking. Random battles is what killed the RPG.

:lol

Some people actually like Random battles. After playing Star Ocean III and reminesing back to Chrono Trigger i've moved on to other forms of battle initiations.

No. Go play Chrono Trigger, and then come back.

Is there really a difference? There are points in that game where you have to fight. Monsters just pop out of nowhere and attack you. Besides, the monsters respawn in the same places so you know when you're getting attacked. Boring.

There is no type of frustration like the frustration of playing a RPG way to long and going through a long hallway to that savepoint where you promise yourself that once you reach that savepoint you will turn off the game and get some rest. Of course this said hallway is riddled with a random encounter every step you take. Its times like that were I want to stab someone.

With that said I'm happy random encounters are being moved away from.

I haven't touched FF anything since FFX (and I didn't even finish that one), but strangely, I find myself aroused by FFXII. Or maybe I'll just have to watch Toastyfrog beat the game in one long marathon in the office next year.

Im interested in this mostly because Matsuno's stuff is more interesting than rest of Square's.. even with all the balance issues and clunky unintuitive menus his games have had in the past.

Didnt like KotOR's battle system much either but just about anything is better than the dumb and tired ATB system at least. FFIX was the last FF game with an ATB though so hopefully they're never going back to that.

sooooo true.

Getting rid of random battles is a major push for getting FF out of the slump it's been in.

Nothing worse than trying to limit your steps so you can make out of a room without fighting invisible enemies. :lol

So is this a timed demo, or does it just take roughly half an hour to beat? It'd suck if it was timed, because I'd like all the time I want to explore the environments and appreciate the design.

Wow, those trailers look great. The game isn't shy about its Western influences (some scenes being very Star Wars, gameplay reminding of KOTOR, etc) yet also seems to be successfully forging a classic Final Fantasy identity.

I'll probably be right on this one at release, rather than waiting for GH status like I did with FFX.

Hawt Hawt

the battle system looks sweet finally some changes to the formula.

That looks pretty good. The only thing that's bothering me is the formatting of the real-time cut-scenes, which is garbage. I hope that in the final version the "aspect ratio" of the real-time cut-scenes will be the same as the CG ones.

edit: BLEH, the intro is the same trailer that Sony showed at their pre-E3 conference. Lazy fucks!

Holy shit, it's like they listened to all my hopes and dreams about the evolution of Final Fantasy and made it so.

<3 SquareEnix

Wow, I can't believe I missed this thread, the game looks amazing though. You can defintely tell they went back to FFXI a lot when creating this, hell the combat log is pretty much ripped word for word from it. "XX readies Raging Fists.", "You obtain a scroll of Utsusemi: Ni.".

But man does it all looks like so much fun and so beautiful, perhaps I don't feel too bad about how long this is taking to release, but this sort of media isn't helping. :lol

I'm really disappointed about haivng no TaruTarus.

But FFXI truly was a great game since FFVII and FFXII having so much in common is really good. I'm looking forward to this game very much.

That looks great! I like the new fight style and it's nice you get a choice. Kudos to SE for taking a small risk and making some changes.

Everybody should play FFXII just so they can beat the fucking shit out of those annoying chocobo-riding judges from Ivalice.

They singlehandedly made FFTA suck!

The thing that really bugged me about FF11 wasn't even the community, the latency, or the jacked prices in the auction house. It was the fact that you can't do anything in that game unless you have a white mage(s) in your party.
