Fire Emblem Fates coming to Europe on May 20th

Got my Special Edition.
Got my cover plates.
Got my 'Two Kingdoms' (box art) theme code.
Only downside was they crushed the box for the SE. I'll probably throw everything except the cart and the art book out so it's probably not an issue.

Only two hours in, and i'm ready to toss this in the garbage. What the hell is the point of chapter 5? Your party is crap/useless, can't survive one battle, and even if they do, they don't do any damage. In the other hand, you are constantly outnumbered by enemies that can end you in 2 blows.

So before I start playing would it be possible to outline what each difficulty does and if it's possible to start on hardest difficulty right off the bat?

Ok, the time to choose has come. Chapter 6
...I don't know what to pick, I'm a bit conflicted.

I'm already aware that I'll spend those 19.99 in the future to get the other path, though. You got me, IS.

Your supposed to be at a major disadvantage, you need to use tactics to win not brute strength. This battle is essentially a tutorial for enemy attack ranges and how to manipulate them to your advantage while balancing your weapon strengths and weakness..

You have one super strong unit right? Allow it to bait and counter the two on the left first. Once you do that you'll have an idea of how to use it effectively. Don't forget to use the item you get from killing them.

As for the rest of your party, if they are weak alone then they are strong together, use the pairing system and correct placement to use partner assists etc. Don't feel the need to rush the enemy either, the fighter behind enemy lines is bait for you to rush and get yourself killed.
.

Its one of the first real battles but its easy compared to what comes down the line. If your still finding the battle hard/frustrating you should restart on an easier difficulty and certainly play Birthright first (allows you to grind to over power foes).

Good Luck!!! That battle got me a few times also, once you figure it out you'll laugh at yourself. That's the joy of FE outsmarting yourself and becoming a legit better player as you progress.

Frankly the idealist within me wanted to pick the "Choose neither side" option, I suppose it is the golden route / has the best ending.

But it'll wait after beating Birthright and Conquest (which scares me a little bit tbh)

Game spells it out for you. The main character can one hit enemies, and gets two attacks if you use sing on them. You can position yourself to fight two enemies at a time. Yes the other party members are borderline useless, but it's just for that battle.

Sounds the same as awakening where everyone except Frederick is useless at the start

I hope healers aren't quite so bad early on this time at least

Yay, cool coin.

You can't use sing either, except for in the beginning of the battle, because you'll lose her when she needs to come too close once you're outnumbered. There are two soldiers and two mages that can all tag-team you out, so even if you can take out two of them, the other two will take you out after that.

Super happy with the LE, feels very premium, love the sturdy box.

Did anyone in Germany get something from thalia.de? My order says "Abgeschlossen" and "Nicht lieferbar" so I'm assuming it was quietly cancelled.

I just played that mission on hard a few hours ago. She didn't die, if you watch positioning you'll never be outnumbered and she won't get hit. Press X to see the enemies attack range. You'll be moving them into enemy range or drawing unnecessary attacks. And read that much longer post that replied to you.

Our asshat postman decided to drive my LE around in his truck one more day, after I waited all day yesterday to get it, and have to work today. Thanks for not just dumping it at the post office where I could have picked it up this morning, you twat.
Looking forward to an unreadable scribble about how you dropped it off with one of the neighbours that's going to be unreachable for a week. God, I hate you with a passion.

Shoutout also to the local Media Markt that doesn't manage to receive games that release on friday by saturday.
I am going to be in the fucking worst mood all weekend now, and look forward to still not play the game on monday because more bullshit delays.
I got no cancellation of the Thalia pre-order yet, but I picked "payment on in-store pick-up" so maybe they aren't obliged to officially cancel that anyway.

Doesn't matter. As long as i stay out of their range the enemies don't come. Only when i step inside their range they will take the bait, in which case they will tag team me. Baiting them with other characters is possible, but not without losing them. And since my range is less far, i can only attack once, meaning going in the offensive is not an option. I can win this, but not without losing party members.

I don't know what to tell you. Sounds like you just aren't good at this game. Baiting is in your favour. Paired up, I don't think anybody can die in one hit (and you have a healer IIRC). The main character can tank damage from anyone except with an anti Wyrm weapon so use someone else to bait those.

Maybe this genre isn't for you. It's doable, you just need to understand the mechanics.

If anyone was wondering, my Amazon.de order that was at €90 appears to have been updated to €80 (€84.64 with shipping), so I guess that must have done a price match after all.

~£65 ain't that bad a price to be honest.

Was still charged 90€ for Amazon.fr, had I know I would have cancel them instead of Amazon.de :(

Ahh I really can't afford this now but I know if I wait around it will be £50 used in a year...

I'm not too sure about this.

If you mean the physical special edition of the game, it will retain its high price preowned/on 3rd party seller sites like ebay, above £70 at least, for years to come. For retailers, I could only see them reducing the price in a stock clearance sale. Or, like an above poster mentioned, you could be lucky in catching a European copy for sub 90 euros (about £65). However, given that stock clearances will be eaten up on HUKD fast, there is no guarantee that you will be able to purchase it.

On the other hand, buying the two physical editions and the digital Revelations, or one physical and the 2 others in digital form, is another story. The physical games should retain their high values, even preowned, like past entries at a stable price of about £20. That should net you about a £10 - £15 gain, if you have no problem purchasing Nintendo games digitally, do not care about having all 3 games one one cart, and the other accessories.

Apparently they are extremely unreliable (check page 9 and 10 of this thread, also heard they did the same with the SF Zero LE). Haven't ordered anything from them since they stopped allowing vouchers for game orders - before that I got several games from them for free or just a few Euros...

I'm getting a second version from Amazon.de now in mid-June. Only ordered it for the home menu theme. Guess I will get rid of the copy from Saturn then (just worried that Amazon could still cancel my order).

Yeah I read that back then, just curious if ANYONE actually got one. It was only a backup for me, would have been nice to get another one for that price :) That was my first and last order there

Saturn.de was extremely reliable and got it to me on release day, so I'm good

Riiight... That's it. I just finished FE GBA a couple of months ago also on medium difficulty. I *think* that's not the problem.

Nobody dies in one hit, the problem is that there are two wyrmslayers and two mages (which you are vulnerable to), who ALL react TOGETHER as soon as i step in EITHER of their ranges regardless of which character i do it with, giving the same outcome regardless of which side i come from, and always leaving me outnumbered. SInce i only have two attacks, and they only need two attacks to finish one character, they will always tagteam on that character. And two attacks of these opponents kill any of my party members.

Here's a guide. Just follow that, I really can't be bothered with arguing over something I did easily on my second try.

This chapters prepares you for Conquest in my opinion. Also GBA games do not comapre to these at all.
I believe that anybody other then Corrin that does will come back after chapter 6, since these are mostly tutorials.

Also use the tonic that you find.

What service is this? Sounds like Hermes

I've just played that one with Permadeath on (although restarted 5 times as I wasn't prepared to loose units until after chapter 6) but just couldn't get out without loosing Raskin (or whatever her name is) so I've just resigned my self to loosing her and moved on.

I'm sure glad this game came out on a Saturday in Australia.

Because I ordered it online and hence must wait until at least Tuesday for it to show up along with my Fire Emblem New 3DS XL.

I should have bought it in store.

Are there any European copies of the LE available? I'm in the UK but due to the shit show with Game was unable to secure a pre order. The LE is the only way I'm interested in this title.

Yes, lots of. In the end it depends on the price you are willing to pay for it.
