Fire Emblem Warriors - Warriors' Awakening (new trailer)

I played for a little and it's really fun! Not sure if better than HW - I feel like the variety of characters there is hard to beat.

I liked being able to pair up though and it looked pretty enough to me.

The character choices are a big problem to be sure, making this game center around Fates/Awakening/FE1 was a huge mistake. FE has so many different characters to draw from and unfortunately by limiting it to centering around those 2 games (clearly Fates/Awakening is what its really focusing on) they are limiting the potential of what the game could do. Just compare it to Fire Emblem Heroes on Mobile and imagine they did the same thing, people would have stopped playing it right from the get go but because it has such a vast array of characters with new ones popping up rather regularly its doing extremely well.

There are dozens of fan favorites and we aren't even getting a bone thrown at us yet about them, its just the standard MC groups so far which are generally the most boring and basic characters of each game.

They're focusing on the most important game Fe1/3 and then the new popular games.

TBH, I'd expect a Tellius dlc pack (Int sys imho seems to prefer Tellius over Elibe). It would just hard to had Magvel and Jugdral as well.

I'm honestly fine with this, have 4 characters from an era and two maps (so lets say Tellius gets Ike/Miciah/Elincia/Sothe) in a dlc pack and I think we'd be set.

Yeah, for some reason they're doing an awful job making this game look exciting. And that's coming from someone who loved Hyrule Warriors and begged for a Fire Emblem version. So far I don't think their character choices are very interesting either.
I'm not sure there's much they can do to make this game look exciting. Hyrule Warriors was able to capitalize on a lot of nostalgia and excitement on placing beloved characters in an entirely new game. Fire Emblem, meanwhile, is a way more natural (and less exciting) fit for a Warriors game and they seem to be going out of their way to avoid the more nostalgic options (though I don't think Japan has nearly as much reverence for the GBA/GC titles as the West does)

Plus, Hyrule Warriors came out during a time where people were fairly hungry for new Zelda content. But this has been the most Fire Emblem packed year ever. Series fatigue doesn't favor interest in a fan service game, no matter what trailers they could put out.

I played through Awakening twice and never considered promoting Lissa to War Cleric, so seeing her with an axe is really jarring to me.

Yeah, her just moving on sounds likely to me, but I can't say much for certain. Didn't mean to suggest that it's a strike thing, though- just saying that Matt being back doesn't mean much.
True, Mercer is still in his "I'm unknown enough to dub stuff" part of his VA career lol

Need footage of the N3DS version
Without sounding too much like an asshole, just imagine it looking less crisp, less characters on screen and struggling to hit 30 when they pull specials off. Look at every other warriors games to back this up. Oh and fog.
Keep in mind I love the musou series, but it being on n3ds was a dumb move spec wise.

Hyrule Warriors is pretty good on N3DS and FE:W will most likely sell better on N3DS too

I'm finding it hard to care about this game. The gameplay looks repetitive and dull, and as someone who isn't particularly fond of Awakening or Fates...the lineup is terrible so far. Where's Hector? Where's Lyn? Ike and Roy should be announced before the likes of Frederick and Lissa as well.

I know the 3DS games are the best selling entries, but come on.

mostly agree. although i have to say I often hear complains that even Heroes has too much of a focus on certain games/characters

As for warriors. it really hasn't done the best job getting me excited for the game.
Not from the gameplay shown off or the roster.

even if you accept the Fates/Awakening/FE1 only part.
These character choices so far are just pretty boring. It's the same characters that got focus and special stuff in other games and DLC. I'm expecting Tharja and Cordelia soon because of that

If only there were more interesting characters to choose from. If only there was 10 other games lying around.

Shame Lisse is the most interest axe user of the entire franchise.

of course it will

A game that can be played on a €160 system and cost €45 will sell better than a game on a €350 system and cost €60

That's not how it works. The game will sell several times better on Switch than on New 3DS for a lot of obvious reasons.

that really isnt saying much. but like i said , you should expect it to look like this in comparison to the switch version. ignore the other info on image but like i said, expect it to look drastically worse and less enemies on screen with probably less effects going on. also i expect it to sell worse on n3ds than hyrule warriors since that had the diasterous idea to be allowed to be played on a regular 3ds. (which allowed for more sales)

I got it on 3DS and enjoy it very much

Where is my gorgeous waifu Tharja? *insert angry emoji*

This game is really looking good. The background detail makes the Dragon Quest games coming to Switch look lazy AF.

the dq games already came out in japan, havent heard a thing about the western release. Difference here is that a downgrade/port vs something made from the ground up, the ground up version will always win, it was that way for hyrule warriors looking and running better than Warriors orochi 3 hyper edition on the wii-u. same with games on handhelds with that samurai warriors game for 3ds and ps vita (aka like DQ heroes where one version looks like shit compared to another )
Tharja will be dlc or a lastly announced character.

Well, it looked exactly like a musou would look. Unless they're trying to fool FE fans into expecting a game different than what it is, I don't see why they couldn't show some gameplay.

Maybe its just me but i was much more impressed with HW when we saw Gameplay for the first time. This seem like a lower budget affair - dont know if its because of the generic foot soldier enemies instead of monsters or the facts that its developed with n3DS in mind as well.

Hyrule Warriors had the Dodongo fight.

Probably going to have to pass on this one. The lack of any representation from any FE besides 1/Awakening/Fates is just sad. Yes, I know they said they would be focusing on these games but I really think Nintendo and KT dropped the ball here.

I could see it being 5 per game at launch, would give us 17-18 (depending upon if another oc is playable) from fe1/3, awakening, and fates. IIRC they said more then other cross over games at launch which have always been 13 characters so 17-18 would fulfill that statement.

I don't see it that way. It looks more ambitious visually, feature-wise it's more complete than HW, it will have more characters, probably more content. It has probably been in development for longer than HW, and I doubt it got a smaller budget.

Gundam musou had 18 characters, so FEW will have at least 19-20. I expect more than that.

I don't like Warriors games, and bought Hyrule Warriors anyway...Really don't feel like I should make that mistake again.

But if Fredrick says "Pick a god, and pray" then I will buy.

I disagree
Those are obviously the more recognizable games and so characters
And they will probably at least add characters for the existing amiibo
Plus obvious dlc packs

And it is fun to see people complaining about those episodes and at the same time rejoicing for Chrom and lucina

People also complained about weapons and we are now seeing more weapons type coming

People comain about initial number of characters and now more are coming

And so on

Awakening saved the franchise, fire emblem 1/3 started it

Those two games will get over exposure in cross over stuff from now until the end of human existence. People just need to learn to accept that. It'd be like going into a ff cross over thread and complaining about too much ff7 stuff shows up.

Hyrule Warriors was exclusively characters from OOT, TP, and SS. They later added Majora's Mask, Link's Awakening, and Wind Waker characters through DLC. I think the fact that this is pulling from just a handful of Fire Emblem games was to be expected, going by HW's roster. I think we'll see more characters from other games as DLC, like in HW.

Oh yeah! My boy Robin is in the house! I hope they let him use a sword on top of using magic. Lissa using an axe is pretty cool, too. Not sure how much I like Lucina's new voice, though. Gonna take a while to get used to that.

People are allowed to dislike things and complain about them. Doing so doesn't mean they don't know the reasons why things are the way they are.

Idk i loved Awakening but still can't feel hyped for this :/ looks worse than HW somehow
You and others need to go back and look at Hyrule Warriors. Fire Emblem Warriors looks significantly better and more detailed. That some say otherwise continues to confuse me if they're being honest. We have direct feed footage of the game now for side by side comparisons.

I figured they might make Robin magic only to reduce the number of sword users.

I can't believe believe Frederick made the cut, haha

The devs must be huge fans of Awakening's earlygame, which primarily focused on the Chrom/Frederick/Robin/Lissa dynamic (aka the best part of the game)

So if it's 5 characters per game, I wonder who they'll chose for Fates/SD.

PS: Tharja is DLC so you better pony up.
