Firmware 3.0 broke my Uncharted!

I've played from Chapter 3-14 on the Slim using 3.0 and haven't crashed yet. I did have a bug where his legs stopped moving and he seemed to slide around for a while.

What Chapters do you guys crash on? It could be Chapter specific.

I just did 7 through 11 on a slim and no crash. Though their was a sound bug that came up right after getting on the sea-doo for the second time. The sea-doo sound at full throttle wouldn't stop even if i was completely stopped. I don't think this has anything to do with 3.0.

I force rebuilt the database...Batman and other games (PSN stuff like Marvel vs Capcom 2) load a little faster, but the texture loading seems unchanged in Batman...probably always like this (it is UE3 after all) but I wasn't looking before.

Just played 4 chapters in a row. No freezing, no abnormal performance issues, and it's the same game I have been playing since I got a PS3. This is definitely a Slim/3.0 compatibility issue.

No its not.

Yeah, from what I'm hearing there's a lot of banter, but very few examples of this crash being a result of the firmware.

Please feel free to correct me if wrong.

I just reformated my HDD and started a totaly clean save file, played up to the U-boat and crash. Something happened with 3.0 that messes up the game for alot of people. I keep hearing reports of other games crashing for people after 3.0 (wipeout, demon's souls).

They better release a fix and QUICK! This shit is not acceptable.
Sorry to hear that a clean save game didnt work either :\ Then it doesnt sound like a corrupt save game was the problem.

If many people are having problems with some games after they installed firmware 3.0, then i think that Sony will fix it rather fast. Sony fixed the 2.40 firmware pretty fast at least, that several of people had problems with, so i would assume that Sony will fix the 3.0 firmware relatively fast as well (unless that it is really hard to find out what causes the crashes for some people).

Then you tell me. It's working fine for me. I don't have a slim, and I have 3.0.
From what i can tell it seems to be some kind of random problem. Some people have no problems while others have problems. The people who have problems with some PS3 games have at least one thing in common and that is that they got the problems after installing firmware 3.0, so it is most likely some problems with the firmware 3.0 and i dont think that everyone that have problems got a PS3 Slim as Loudninja mentioned below me here, so i would guess that the problem is within the firmware 3.0 itself.

I think that these problems are rather strange though. I mean, they all have installed the exact same firmware and why are only someone getting problems while others doesnt? I wonder what causes these problems.

EDIT: I added some text.

And I was just about to start my 3rd play through to get ready for UC2. =(

I haven't updated my Ps3 yet, maybe I should just wait and play through it now and see if a fix comes out in the meantime...

I take it back, I left it on pause for about an hour, played a big gun fight scene and it froze while i was mopping up the place for ammo. I don't think it has anything to do with how long you play, you just got to hit the right conditions to trigger the bug. Anyone have any guesses as to what it might be?

I just walked up to the same spot where it froze and it froze again. This doesn't look like a save file problem.

EDIT: 3 times in a row. Confirmed.

If you guys think your having problems now just wait until the next firmware update on 9/9/09. That's when your PS3 turns into a Dreamcast and stops playing PS3 games all together.

Add another Gaffer with some serious Uncharted issues to the list. I literally just bought the game yesterday. Freezes in Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 for me.

No word from Sony or Naughty Dog yet?

Sony needs to:

there have been quite a few hardware revisions just from launch to slim, and even then, there's any number of other issues it could be. it may not be related to a specific version, but a particular setting being enabled or even a network issue.

Please stop spreading around this ridiculous rumor that people think they're having problems.

ND to the rescue in 3... 2..... 1.....
That would be cool, but could ND fix this though? Seeing that some people have problems with other games as well, such as Wipeout HD for example, i would guess that the problems are because of the firmware 3.0, and i think that only Sony can fix this (unless there is a possibility for Naughty Dog to make a patch that make Uncharted fully compatible with this version of firmware 3.0 :)).

Battlefield 1943 is completely unplayable!

The PS3 crashes every 2 matches.
If it crashes every 2 matches, does that mean that you can play one match and then the next match crashes? If so, i dont know if i would say that the game is complete unplayable. Maybe i am taking what you are saying a bit too litterally though :) But ye, if it crashes every 2 matches, then this is too much crashing indeed, i totally agree to that. And i think that it is a pity to hear that you have problems with Battlefield 1943 :(

EDIT: I just tried to play some Battlefield 1943, and it seems to work fine so far on my PS3. I cant really play too much now though since i need to go to bed, but the game works fine so far at least. I have a Playstation 3 60GB european version though, but my sister has an 80GB version. I can ask her tomorrow to try Battlefield 1943 to see if it crashes for her as well.

It's just so fucking irritating!

I enjoy Battlefield far more than Killzone 2 and this has pissed me off all day. Everytime the PS3 crashed i'd reset it and play again. It would usually screw up on the second game, though I did manage to play 3 whole games before it died on the fourth earlier.

I have not tried any other games on it since updating last night. The PS3 has been on and off about 12 times today, so i'll wait before trying anything else.

Anyone else experienced a dramatic frame drop while playing KZ2 MP? Not the whole time, only once but never seen that before 3.0. PAL 60GB launch unit here.

Oh god, please no! I'm gonna try tonight, since I've been playing Bad Company getting some single player trophies. I hope to god it's working...

Don't know if it's a "placebo" effect, but when I was getting the "top of the world" trophy, that part of the games' framerate dipped a little more than I remember. Not really too sure though. Maybe I never noticed before.

60g here, US by the way.

Oh god, I see it now. Everybody is going to start blaming every bad thing that happens in games on 3.0 now:

"Dude, that framerate drop wasn't there before 3.0!"
"I can't find any matches! Damn 3.0!"
"The game cheats. Stupid 3.0!"

"The story is so dumb. Must be due 3.0!" :lol

Bioshock is rendered unplayable with 3.0 from complaints in Sony's forums. Such a damn shame because here I was stoked to buy it early tomorrow.

I haven't played Uncharted and I guess I won't get the chance to with this new firmware, I just hope to God that the new Uncharted 2 MP beta doesn't crash because of the current firmware.

Agreed ... people will now be looking for issues, and incorrectly blaming 3.0.

That said, the number and severity of issues certainly points to a real problem.

Just got my slim and Uncharted today from Amazon and...Froze on me in the second chapter. :( Guess I'll play another game for now.

If it does, expect an emergency firmware update.
