It could, but you couldn't turn the PS3 on/off remotely.Odrion said:I thought the PSP could play MP3s from the PS3 before this update.

I haven't been keeping up with the PS3 firmware, but if you can't do background downloading of PS Store items, that needs to be prioritized, too.Oni Jazar said:Boooo-urns. Get back to work Sony!
*Xross game invites
*DTS-HD decoding
*Blu-ray Profile 1.1 (2.0)
*In game sountrack
In that order STAT.

no, no versioning works on a decimal system. the fact that they end their previous major revisions in a way that looks like they are using decimal numbering is irrelevant. The decimal represents a demarcation between version designations (major, minor, patch, etc). That doesn't change. Going from 1.98 to 1.99 is not the same as going from 1.99 to 2.00 in any versioning scheme I've ever worked with or seen. If that IS the way Sony does it (which is highly doubtful) that would be fucking beyond retarded and would make the decimal pointless. why not just do a hexadecimal or straight sequential versioning system at that point? the fact that they use a decimal implies that they are doing a major/minor versioning system.kaching said:You do realize that not everyone does versioning increments the same way, right? What you describe is one way. Some organizations do it differently, simply incrementing a standard decimal value sequentially. This is the way Sony has done it with the PSP and PS3 so far, at least in public.

Oh holy shit - could they really be having a new code that replaces the silky ribbon with the marker pen drawing algorithm?TTP said:wait a second. The BG is different from the other pic. Is that animated? O_O

Choose which XMB
(Cross Media Bar) feature
would be most important
to you in a possible PLAYSTATION®Network update:
1. In-game access to PSN messaging 45% (615 votes)
2. Ability to play my own music from the XMB while in-game 51% (704 votes)
3. Larger buddy list and buddy-list features such as categorizing 4% (57 votes)

That'd be pretty sweet.

About the version numbers:
I would guess that a 2.0 designation has a lot more to do with the underlying tech of the XMB getting updated rather than adding a lot of new features, especially considering it's only a .06 update. It should be really interesting to see how the SDK can change after consumers have 2.0.
People just have to remember that all the .01 updates have generally been bug fixes and any notable feature added has been signified by a .1 update.
