Indeed. It seems to be a better job than Unity, which I actually enjoyed. I have warmed up to it a bit and will probably check it out at some point.

Eurogamer's Ian Higton summed up his two hour stream by saying if you think it's going to be as bad as Unity, you are wrong.
I remember a lot of people hated Brotherhood's auto-fail stealth missions, but I thought they were well designed (from a level design perspective) and they actually encouraged you to do what the series originally intended - be an unseen assassin. Would be cool if you could mod the PC version to be like this.
And yes I think Unity's combat animations are on the whole hugely underrated.
I was still fine with the foliage in Black Flag, but lol, I can't deny I'd prefer it if it played like MGS with that seamless camouflage, seamless cover/hiding, sharp movement, diving...
It just means they didn't get past the beginning area of the game.
Uh... yeah... it was a conversation about console performance.Or they played on PC.
Give me any open world game that doesn't have those moments on consoles. I'll be waiting for that huge list.
lol, the first stream is called "Assassin's Creed Syndicate 1080p 60 FPS PS4"...
Youtube link in OP is down.
I found over an hour of the beginning of the game on this channel. (PS4 version / raw gameplay no commentary)

E3 was 1080p on ps4. I doubt they downgrade it considered everything seems downgraded enough from UnityCompression is beyond terrible. Very hard to tell the resolution but going by the direct-feed screens posted earlier the PS4 version does not seem native 1080p to me, or their AA solutions is really blurry.
IGN will be streaming here in 15 minutes from my post: http://www.twitch.tv/ign
It's already 20:45 BST. I guess they just confused their time zones
can you just ride a Horse in this game?
They look the same to me.
The frame rate in mad max was pretty bad in places, particularly when driving in the top half of the map (ps4 version)
Also gta5 was a last gen up-port. The ps3 version had a horrendous frame rate
So all these games run smoothly? no. MGS V does but it's not a looker and it's world is fairly barren and empty. Mad Max sure as shit doesnt run smooth on consoles and I love that game.
I never played Mad Max, only read the DF analysis and remember it being smooth 30 fps? Maybe I just confused it with another game. You must be kidding if you think Mad Max wasn't choppy.
IGN stream is up. They're allowed to stream first 4 missions. http://www.twitch.tv/ign
They've opened by saying they're really enjoying it, much better than Unity.
IGN being able to show it off before embargo makes me think of:
Funny seeing all of the hate on Unity's perf still, I totally understand it in regards to release but the game runs pretty damn well now.
Actually got me into the series after AC2 failed to draw me in (likely my fault, put a few hours into it and couldn't stay motivated to continue playing at the time).
I'll pick up Syndicate at some point but I still have 4-5 games I'm working on/through so I'll gladly wait for a decent discount.

"Pretty damn well"? Have they patched performance more?
I played 1.04 which I was told was the final performance improvements and it still ran like ass

I started playing Unity a few weeks ago on PS4 and I will offer the counter-observation, the game still runs closer to 20fps than 30. Framerate issues were obvious as soon as I was let loose on the actual open-world, after all the scripted story stuff at the beginning.Edit: and to clarify I haven't noticed any FPS issues with the game yet, I'm 34% through the story and put over 20 hours into the game so far.

Okay, seriously, WTF? Why did DF never gave an in-depth analysis? I was so close to getting it on PS4 based on their analysis. I will never trust them again. The first area of Mad Max, where DF did their tests, is pretty smooth, but once you get a good number of hours in, it turns into this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NJETJMeQWg
I want your magic PS4.Yeah and I really can't offer any counter argument to that as it's not my experience with the game.

Yeah and I really can't add anything to or against that as it's not my experience with the game.

My experience more or less matches yours, and I bought Unity at launch. The only bugs and glitches I ever saw all had to do with NPCs doing odd and bizarre things. It was more amusing than annoying, though I'm not about to try to convince anyone they should be viewed as a "feature."
That's a bug, and it's rare. They're working on it.

Honestly, you probably just don't have the eye to differentiate framerates between 20 fps to 30 fps. The PS4 framerate is very, very unstable and DF metrics confirm this.I keep expecting the perf to take a shit at some point just because everyone still says so much bad stuff about it lol.
Here's hoping that doesn't happen
Bugs and glitches have been patched satisfactorily, I haven't seen anything particularly noteworthy on my playthrough. I'm talking strictly about framerate performance, which is still pretty hairy.
There were complex AI routines in Unity? The good news is the framerate in Syndicate on PS4 (I've seen raw captured footage) is very stable. The bad news is it looks like they got this by slashing the AI code - they don't have to worry about thousands of NPCs doing complex AI routines now, as they mostly just stand around and stare into space like robots.
