Flower (PSN)

I think it's the lone lamp post after the spiral thing, or the one after the one after that.
Shit I don't remember now. :lol

that one just ends the level. thanks anyway.

anyone elsek now? it's driving me crazy, I'm searching all over.

Finished it earlier, definitely enjoyed it and it's something I see myself firing up every so often to either show to others or play through on my own. Was surprised to see how many people worked on the game, I would have thought it'd have been a much smaller project, but the quality should have told me otherwise.

I think it's an easy $10 of enjoyment, for those weighing in on the cost.

Honestly, after actually playing it, I don't see how there's any real cost to weigh. To think there's a gamer who wouldn't buy a game like this when it effectively costs them no more than two trips to McDonalds is crazy to me. :P If you have a PS3 and you want to see one of the foremost examples of "games are art", look no further.

I showed this to my younger before he went to school. He played for around 5 minutes.

He just came home and said "i couldn't stop thinking about that fucking flower game". Now he's playing it, minutes after getting home.

I just need to ask. for the people who said "i feel so calm while playing" do you actually feel calm? or is this just "i read this game is supposed to calm me so thats how I feel"?

I actually was calm. I even paused it to get a glass of wine. :lol

How do you go into Reminisce mode? I haven't found that yet. I appreciate the simplistic nature of the game but some of that could have been useful to toss in as a reminder or hint.

Start any level. Put the controller down. It will go into "attract mode" a la Burnout Paradise. Let it go for three minutes.

You need to
illuminate the pond on the right to the telegraph post that'll catch on fire later, while you're carrying the light to illuminate the big spiral. The flowers appear right next to it.

One level in, this seems pretty damn incredible already.
Oh, it'll get even better. :D First and last level are the high points, imo.

:lol I got a trophy for
pausing the game and going away to eat dinner

Played the first two levels, love it. So relaxing.

Just finished the game.

Art motherfuckers, this is it. Incredible experience. I had no idea sound played such an important part in the game, reminded me a lot of Rez.

...what was it with the comments about a twist btw? Was level 5 it? :P

Not since Pixeljunk Eden have I been this blown away by a game. The audio and visuals slightly remind me of Eden, except I feel completely relaxed versus stressed out.

Here's the best compliment I can come up with: This is what I was hoping for when they said "next-gen."

I have a boner for volumetric grass.

thanks

and I think the fourth level is another one of the high points. I actually said "wow" outloud playing it.

Some guy created a thread a while back where he said he has a fetish for grass in video games. Flower will probably give him a heart attack.

That's the night level, right? I agree. Might be my favorite, actually.

Only able to play through the first level, but I loved it. :D

Ironically, my wife was waiting (she wanted to watch The Office, it's why I had to stop playing) and she proclaimed it the most boring game she's ever had to watch me play. :lol She did allow it looked "cool" but I was surprised, I assumed the art and soothing gameplay would be a hit with her but she kept asking what the point was and if there was a story. She's too used to watching me play story-heavy games like Silent Hill and Bioshock or something. She hated Eden as well, it looked too 'weird' to her.

Needless to say, tomorrow I will be returning her to the store and getting a new wife with a functioning soul.

You should let her give it a try and see playing it changes her mind. Unless she wants nothing to do with actually playing the games, which certainly isn't uncommon. :P

Laugh! Put the sixaxis in her hands. This will change her mind.

Going to go ahead and say those were the prettiest/best credits I've ever seen in film/games. I'm... basically floored by the game. For the first time in a while I didn't want to 100% anything, I just let the experience take me where it wanted, and I enjoyed every moment in doe-eyed abandon.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, That Game Company.

You know what? Fuck Killzone 2, Gears 2 and Crysis. This here is the prettiest game I've played.

Also, it's fucking awesome. I'm madly in love with whoever came up with this! :lol

This game is nothing short of amazing.... ended up playing all of it in one sitting, but will def play again. The music is incredible, and the last level was amazingly uplifting

what does the leaf mean? after playing a level, I got a leave falling down the pot next to the flower :O

playing the 5th lvl now :p

There's a falling petal for each secret flower that you find.

Glad to see so many people enjoy it, including the skeptics. I knew thatgamecompany had a lot of potential and that was when they were still students but they've really exceeded my expectations with Flower. Much moreso than I thought was possible.

Playing through it again earlier today made me realise why we're so lucky to have developers like this being born and bred still.

Agree to the fullest. Flower reminds me why I still play games.

This has so far exceeded my already high expectations...

I'd go so far to say that this is a watershed moment in gaming. It works on so many levels...

This is art.

I'm really surprised by the amount of people that worked on this. I wonder what was its budget.

Seems like the actual team wasn't all that big, but once you get all the tech assistance from Sony, the marketing, the PSN guys, QA, sound creation and editing, music, various localization entities, yeah it seems like a lot.

I think kudos also has to go to Vincent Diamante as well. His music helped improve the mood a ton even if a lot of it is distracted away by the amazing visuals, but on a second run through the game just makes you appreciate it that much more.

Hope he goes far.

Fuck this game is awesome. I got chills as I was going down the
highway
. I beat it in one sitting and it was SO worth the $9.99. I will definitely be replaying, so awesome. Thank you thatgamecompany!

Just like others in this thread I finished Flower in one sitting...W-O-W. I really can't think of anything else to say, just...W-O-W.

Absolutely incredible, exhilarating, breath-taking, and beautiful.

One of the most refreshing games I've played in a long long time.

This game is incredible. Beautiful.

BTW, is there a certain number of secret petals per level? I found 3 in the 2nd level, but I can only find 1 in the first.
