Flower (PSN)

Bumping this due to posting at the end of the last page...

But I feel no remorse with Flower. Only joy. I'm trying to think of how to explain it, how I would've explained it to myself if I could go back in time, how I'd describe Flower to a person who nearly didn't pick it up due to the lack of a demo.

The first level, the only level I've played so far
About to get better, looking forward to your impressions :)

I've been banned so I haven't been able to gush over this as I would have liked.

Best game since Portal. Just an utter masterpiece.

GOTY

You're either missing one in the junkyard part before the last tunnel bit or the one you get by making towers collapse in the space where you have to make 3 towers white. collect the flowers by the non-important towers and they'll fall. One of them makes the hidden flower show up.

What you just described is the location of the second secret flower. I'm looking for the last one :D

Tell me more about the
"one in the junkyard part before the last tunnel"

Downloaded this last night after reading alot of the good impressions and reviews. I still, after a couple of levels played, dont know how to properly describe the game. All I can say is it's beautiful and compelling and I want more. What a great experience!

The first sentence is the one you're looking for, the second is the one before.

Before the final bit of that level you're in something a bit hard to find your way around, it's in there. Not even hidden, just on the floor somewhere.

LOVING THIS GAME so far. graphics are amazing, the music is soothing and i like how the flowers you hit make little notes that go with the music. kinda like everyday shooter. controls work extremely well and i could see most of my non-gamer friends actually getting into this if i handed them the controller.

my only gripe so far is the areas where it forces you to go one direction, and you can't turn around to go get flowers you missed. i had to go perpendicular to the direction of the wind flow to get back to the beginning and try again.

other than that it's just fantastic. and yes, there should be cheap DLC asap. :D

I just finished getting all the secret flowers in every garden, and I assumed there would be another level because of the trophy description.
The new background is cool, but a level would have been even better

Dang, that's what I was hoping for.

Which trophy do you get for getting all the secret flowers? I got em all and didn't see a trophy pop up.

I just deleted some guy off my friends list who kept bugging me to "share" this game with him. I was playing through the credits at that time and completely rubbed me the wrong way, I think it's pretty lame that people are abusing the DRM system to try and get games for free, I think it was compounded that I was playing through and reading everyone's name that worked hard on the title.

This could be my GOTY 2009, seriously.

What an amazing experience - and I had no idea the game would go where it went.

Agreed. I think a lot of it comes from it being such a fresh experience. The devs really understand the medium and push it to a new but familiar place. This is the sort of game that reinvigorates my interest in gaming.

grrr...why can't I get the 2nd secret flower in the pink flower level?

I can see them but I can't get down low enough...any tips?

I'm not sure which level you mean, I guess it's the one with the windmills, that would make sense considering where the second flower is in that level. regardless, sometimes it helps to go up to go down. If you fly up and flip the control down you dive directly down till you hit the ground.

Man I'm trying my ass off to get the Pure trophy and every time I get to that segment where
the stuff starts falling
I mess up.

Go super slow and stay at the very top, really simple.

FLOWERS

Level 1 - Yellow Flower
1; In the first area collect all the outlying white flowers to make the hidden flower appear
2; In the second area once again collect all the outlying white flowers
3; The 3rd hidden flower is behind the tree in the final area

Level 2 - Red Flower
1; In the first area collect all the orange & red flowers in the valley between the two ring of stones
2; In the second area once the yellow & white flowers have appeared collect the group of yellow flowers that appear near where you entered this area
3; The 3rd hidden flower is located to the left of the first set of standing stones in a small obscured valley in the 3rd area

Level 3 - Pink Flower
1; In the first area collect all the blue flowers near the 3 small fans, then collect all the yellow flowers in the small valleys with jump rocks in them
2; inside the caves, somewhere along the right side.
3; Near the end of the fast valley section, hidden behind a small outcrop of rock

Level 4 - Blue Flower
1;At the beginning of the stage, you can find 2 "straw rolls" (excuse my english) in a corner of the map, it's behind one of those
2;Broken/abandonned cartwheel, light it up
3;Light up one of the two ponds to make it appear

Level 5 - Purple Flower
1; In the first section, there's a little hidden valley off to the left of all the twisted ruins.
2; Second section with all the tall electrical towers, there's a tower towards the left that falls once you get some flowers in the area from the top of the little ramps. It shows up then where it falls.
3; In the canyons before the end gauntlet, it's in a corner somewhere. You need to open a few colored flowers before it appears.

Level 6 - Light Pink Flower
1; In the skyscraper, halfway up, in the second section. It helps to go through the hole on the roof to see it.
2; Under the exit ramp on the bridge. Get onto the highway and loop around and take the right most exit and continue.
3; Behind an air vent right before the end section.

EXTRA TROPHIES

Most have a clear description, the following however are secret and/or not very clear.

"Memories"
In a level, leave the controller alone until the game switches to a screensaver mode, then wait 3 minutes.

"Healthy Play"
Same as Memories, but in the main menu. 10 minutes.

"Welcome Back"
Play the game, wait a week*, then play it again.
* or adjust your PS3 date/time setting

"Palette"
Second level (red flower): in the final area you can "paint" the grass with your flowers after you flew over the rock circles. Use the three different colors for the trophy.

"flOw"
Third level (pink flower): in the caves, keep right and you'll enter a secret area... with familiar cave paintings.

"Pure"
Fifth level (purple flower): make it to the end without burning the flowers. But make sure you found all the secret flowers first.
The only hard part is the final area, and an easy way is to go as high as possible in the beginning, avoiding all the electric stuff down below, then for the finale stay as high and as left as possible, and go real slow so the crap falls in front of you...

Don't press any buttons. Just let the wind take you and you will go so slow your behind all the falling stuff.

The grass tech is seriously one of the most impressive thing I have seen, they need to get this incorporated in other games.

I was thinking the same thing. I wonder how system-stressing it is? KZ3???? :lol

I LOOOOOOOOOOVEEEEEEEE THIS GAMMMMMMMMEEEEEE SOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCCCCCCCCCCCHHHHHHH!

I think I'm gonna cry... :'(

Everyone please buy this gammmeeeeee

ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

I'm bailing on this thread. I just got to level 3 and reading all the comments and seeing all the spoilers (not spoiled) is driving me nuts. I wanna savour this.

Must say level 2 was soooo good.

Wonderful game. I played the first level while my girlfriend watched, and then she wanted to take over for the second, so I watched. The controls are intuitive enough that she got accustomed to them pretty quickly.

I am going to go and play through the rest of the game right now. I don't want to talk about it anymore until I have beat it.

Thats really weird. You have 3 green leaves in every pot? Do you have the "Stars" trophy as well? That might be it.

Yeah I got Stars and 3 greens in every pot. The only trophy I don't have besides "Dream" is "Pure". One thing I will say is I am having this audio glitch when playing the game and it seems to be causing a performance problem, and it was causing a problem at the end of level 6 for me. It still gave me the "Urban" trophy though.

I might delete the save and start over.

My girlfriend calls me gay for playing this :(

F*** her face while she's sleeping and c*m up her nostrils for saying something so utterly stupid.

This is an amazing game; beautiful, serene, and aiming for a whole different set of emotions to any other game out there.

played about four levels. i thought i knew the meaning of relaxation and calmness before playing this, but as I flew around on the wind, i was filled with a feeling of intense warmth the likes of which i've never felt before.

so basically it's $9.99 for eternal happiness. pretty good deal.

I KNOOOWWW riiight?

Everyone!! Its your civic duty to make all your friends play this game!! And make all your friends who own PS3s to buy this game!! And make all your friends who have enough money, but dont have PS3s, buy PS3s and buy this game!

which one of those? ) See here which one you're lacking..but I suspect you'll have to
wait a week
for that trophy.

Thanks !

One last trophy that I still don't know how to have it is the "wind" trophy...

Finished, awesome game, missing some trophies though, the light up the names in the stars? is that just play through the credits? i did that and got all the flowers but no trophy and the journey to the city unscathed, i did that but didnt collect all the flowers just the ones that you must collect and didnt get a trophy????

My gf didn't really like it. :(

I'll try to make up for it with my extra-strong love for this game. Just 100% it earlier today, but I will definitely boot this up every once in a while to replay a level. :D

I know, right? There's a serious lack of curb-stomping, ass-kicking and button-mashing going on here. For fuck's sake, I am so sick of playing different and unique experiences. I mean, this game doesn't even have a mostly brown color palate or any bald guys, wtf? Someone please tell me again how this even qualifies as a video game? Screw you idiots for liking Flower, I'm going to go pwn some 15-year-olds in multiplayer...

Did you have fun building that strawman?

Just finished the game and now going to go back and get 100%

Never played a game that made me feel like this.....its like...i dont know what its like but wow :lol

Everyone really needs to experience this masterpiece.

Still on the Pure trophy, got a problem with the middle section of the last part (where stuff sprouts instead of falling), what's the best option here?

It's still to stay high, the vast majority are too low to hit you, just go super slow.
