For Honor Open Beta Feb 9 - Feb 12

I respectfully disagree. Souls pvp was pretty deep. Vast array of weapons and move sets to memorise and counter. This is just moving an analogue stick in one of three positions.
Indeed. If only this game had multiple weapons and movesets to memorize and counter.

Which class specifically are you having trouble with? People here would probably give a few pointers.

I struggle with all the viking ones but especially this stupid ugly big axe swinging asshole who comes running across the map, grabs your ass and carries you to the Endzone

Fun game and a fun concept but it quickly becomes frustrating once you are surrounded by 3 people.

I don't see this becoming popular. This is definitely one of those games that a small amount of people will support, and the rest will just move on to Battlefield or another Call of Duty.

It is a shame. The direction is there, but Ubisoft fails to hit a lot of nails right on the head. The balance is one of the things I hate.

I swear that I got poisoned in a battle and the other guy didn't even had to do anything but just watch me die in agony. It is just one of these games that rarely ever requires skill, but patience. Not my cup of tea, unfortunately.

Not to mention that the cheap amount of deaths I had by battling an enemy, and he decides to flurry attack thus having me block every incoming attack. I am fine with that, but not if that block renders me useless and I can't stop myself from reaching that edge of the cliff.

Anyone struggling to find games on PS4 right now?
Can't find any brawl matches whatsoever. Literally none.

Yeah, it's going pretty slow for 1v1's right now. Weird since the 4v4 kill seems to fill up faster than finding a 1v1 match. Still getting matches ever 45 seconds or so though

Don't block then, parry instead.

I love Souls combat but it's not deep, it's a super basic system that's good because it's executed well. There's nothing particularly intricate about it.

What is this constant #ad hashtag bullshit on twitch streamer titles when some good viewed twitch streamer plays this game lol. never expected this on a ubisoft title at all.

Yup, you nailed it. That's why there is a 10+ entry move list for every class and a legend for explaining all special move types, not to mention several long tutorials you have to go through before you can hold your own against someone who knows the gameplay systems.

I'd respond in length but that last sentence genuinely makes it look like you're not even interested in a discussion or the game.

You can also roll.

Also how do I party?

I'm taking a break right now, will message you later okay?

Was talking to Hobo, but sure! I can't play 'til 7Central or so anyways, working.

Ever tried blocking that combo swirl attack from the berserker? Trust me. It doesn't work. You need to basically wait for their stamina to deplete. I had that shit happen to me countless of times.

Parry right, homie. Or just roll away. It moves really slow. That's like one of our worst attacks for single target lol

I added you earlier :D

I'm from Germany tho, how many hours from now?

I don't main him so I don't have much to offer in the way of advice, but:

- The minimap is your friend. Have one eye glued to that shit at all times. Okay, maybe not, but it's great for telling you when someone is about to stab you in the back/run away while carrying you during a duel.

- Raiders big orange attack is unblockable, and has a wide range so its hard to dodge... but it has a HUGE startup. Parrying it is fairly easy once you've done it once or twice.

- If you see raider dodge to the left or right, block high. I believe the attack that he does after a dodge to blind always comes out high. (I could be wrong on this, cant remember for sure...)

If I download the beta will it help with preloading the full game? Don't want to download ~20gbs that might not help with preload.

On PS4.

I'd rather just roll dodge effectively. It is still a shit way to die. Being "pushed" of the edge. Damn.

I can still win plenty of times in battles. I just never get the feeling that I am getting somewhere in terms of progression and getting better. There are still a ton of stupid ways you can die, ways that have nothing to do with skill or dedication.

Which character are you playing?

Fun game, looks awesome. I don't think it will hold my attention so i'm going to skip for now. Maybe i'll pick it up when they release more game modes and characters down the line.

Very happy to see you can play any match with just bots if you choose.

Idk, when I die, 90% of the time I'm outplayed in duels or rushed by multiple enemies.

Focus on duels, and find consistent sparring partners. You're not gonna get better in Dominion, that's mostly for easy leveling and team play. If you wanna improve, head to the duels, play 'til someone beats you, then ask for tips.

I got good by playing over and over against people who kicked the shit out of me and asking them for tips. Usually people will be friendly and give advice if you do, though of course you get the odd shitter.

That's the thing, though. I hate 1vs1 battles so you will never see me playing that. I always played CTF or Team Deathmatch type of modes. Probably one of the reasons why I won't get this Day 1.

That Peacekeeper woman. I absolutely loathe heavy based characters.

Okay. So you know peacekeeper can't keep up blocking 100% of the time? All assassin classes can only block for a brief amount of time. She also has deflection in addition to parrying, so might be another way to help counter an assault.

I was surprised when I went to make a config for my Steam Controller and they already had one.

How is Steam controller compared to just KB/M? Have you tried both? Or anyone else who can give their impressions? I've played so much on KB/M now and I wouldn't want to waste this open beta trying to get familiar with a controller. But if Steam controller is much superior, I maybe should.

Yeah you're probably not suited to this game, then. Nothing wrong with that, but this is a Fighting Game, and in fighting games, you gotta grindstone some 1v1s out to get better.

I know. That requires a constant precise flick on the analog stick in order to counter attacks. I prefer to roll dodge most of the time, works wonders. But there's the occasional Viking axe asshole who just decides to lift me up and makes me his homerun football.

Guess that is definitely the thing. I do love the concept, though. I always think that these type of games have a great community the first month, but then quickly becomes filled with people who play nothing else.

This in turn makes the entire game filled with elite people, knowing every ins and outs. I highly doubt that, for someone like me who only plays 4 hours per week, this is something I can stay good at if I don't spend hours upon hours "learning"

EDIT: Shit. Double post.
