For Honor Open Beta Feb 9 - Feb 12

So far I'm loving it feels like an easy to pick up hard to master. Went from interested in it game to a probably buy game.

I find 1v1 meh and 4v4 meh at best.

I found 2v2 with a friend great and we made some people rage cause we doubled down on them sometimes while rushing :D

"woooooo"
"dishonorable"
"fuck you"

etc etc which only made us do it more as it was funny.

I can see myself enjoying 2v2 for $20-30 down the line but seeing as the rest have been rather meh at best, even when going godlike in 4v4 and such doing really well, it just feels like clutter game mode + I only seem to enjoy one class :3

Is this game online only?

Substantial single player?

How many characters? Levels? Maps ?

I'm wondering content and game wise how much of the entire game we are seeing here ?

There is a single player; theres a cinematic out, no one knows how long it is or if its any good. The game is multiplayer focused IMO.

12 Characters at launch, 12 maps I think, theres a ton of customization.. 5 or 6 modes

Post launch theres 5 characters I think not yet revealed, but 2 will come every season.. along with ranked mode / tournament mode, etc..

Beta has 9 out of 12 chars unlocked in MP

By "online only", he means that you need an internet connection at all times to play the game, but there is a singleplayer/co-op story campaign and you can play any of the multiplayer modes with AI bots.

Game keeps crashing on me after a few minutes looking at the characters and customization options. This happening to anyone else? Happened three times in a row spending less then 5 minutes in there.

I was able to play a deathmatch game where we got stomped by a bunch of samurais, lol. Still pretty fun. I want to try Dominion but I can't get into a match - keep getting errors.

When you say characters, they span the 3 factions and that's it right?

So far I HATE the fodder enemies, they just get in the way.

Oh ya I found an option select for Nobushi last beta.

Hidden stance -> Guard Break.

If they don't attempt to throw you, you'll do your kick. If they go to throw, you'll automatically break.

Matchmaking is awful. 5 people join. Lets start the game and put 4 on one team and 1 on the other with 3 bots. Guy quits and the game essentially hangs infinitely and requires quit to desktop via task manager.

Getting pretty annoyed at this, just played for over an hour and haven't been to play a single game. the minute or two of it seems fine from what i can tell, then i keep getting some random error and it will disconnect me back to the main menu.

I'm going to try again later but it's not selling me on the game so far.

Luckily its beta and they have time to fix.....oh wait.

Matchmaking was rough in the closed beta a few weeks ago as well. See you all Tuesday.

Softlocks suck when they happen, but bots aren't actually too bad and the empty spots usually fill up quickly. If anyone finds themselves with a team of bots, don't quit right away. Hopefully they can get the other issues sorted out soon.

Played this for a few hours before, going to give it the benefit of the doubt for now as most players are still getting accustomed but so far it feels really lackluster. The fodder enemies are worse than Dynasty warriors, literally nothing required beyond pressing R1 & it's really easy to button mash your way to killing another player. Feels like a medieval version of Battlefront to be honest, casual fun at best but nothing substantial, which is a shame because I was really looking forward to this.

Also this might sound petty but I'm really starting to hate Ubisoft using the same style HUD that bombards you with information across all their games. For Honor is a medieval style game yet the HUD is extremely modern/ futuristic & scattered all over the screen, looks like it was ripped straight from the AC animus instead of tailor made.
Why go to the effort of giving attack direction information in the animations if you're just going to prioritise the HUD on top of it, can't they trust players to take the visual queues featured instead of holding their hands constantly. Yes I realise you can turn it off but you shouldn't have to, Ubisoft rely far too much on HUDs compared to most other developers, it's lazy design & they should be feeding as much of the information as possible through the gameplay & world itself, not just sticking the AC HUD on top of the screen somewhere. Anyway i'm getting off topic so i'll stop ranting.

I've done a few 1v1's using the orochi class so far. The fighting seems a bit clunky but I've gotten some good matches in. Not too sure how I should be timing my parries, seems like it varies a lot by the opponent's wind up time

Pay attention to the red arrows, parry when it flashes twice to get the timing down

I feel crushed. I played the closed beta for over 20 hours. Now one of my friends who installed the game logged in, so I asked for a duel. I won the first two, but then lost the next four matches. One match went 6-0 in his favor, when I played Raider that I used most of my time in closed beta. He had one hour of experience with the game :( Similar thing happened with Skull Girls, I hyped him up to get it. Then he kept wrecking me and I lost interest in the game :D I need to get friends with some mercy.

My Steam Custom Controls thing isn't working :(

I have the beta on Uplay, but it should work with non-steam games, right? What am I doing wrong? >_<

EDIT: I'll just get it on Steam.
