For Honor Open Beta Feb 9 - Feb 12

Really into this. Focusing on getting to know my Samurai faction, but boy is this combat system deep. Shame on those that said it was Rock Paper Scissors.

Edit: and I'm liking elimination. Power ups are cool, and it's fun to get the speed boost and run around reviving your entire team as the last warrior standing.

I played about an hour this morning and it almost wasn't fun. There are so many new players running around that it was pretty much just freekills and I wasn't really learning anything and I'm pretty sure they were not enjoying having someone who's been in every beta rolling over them. I'll probably still play a lot to spar with friends or do parry drills against level 3 Bots but I think I'll wait until launch to dive back into the large game pool. Last thing I want to do is scare other players off and it's a lot more fun to play this game when you are up against people as good or better than you

I'm using this as a chance to try out characters I haven't played yet. If I pick my main from the betas I just roflstomp everybody.

Awesome stuff! Wish there was a Barbarian fanction but I suppose it would be to close to the Vikings. Can't wait for V day to play the story mode.

I still won't have time to really play online during this beta, but practicing against AI in 60 frames will be more then enough for me. I'll be prepared to dig in properly next week.

I would do some of this, but the classes I'm interested in are Shugoki and Lawbringer, heh. I played a lot of the existing 9 last time and Berserker is the only one I really connected with.

Please put time into the game before you make quick judgments.

It does take time, especially when getting jumped by more players, take your time, block accordingly, revenge mode, zone attacks, hold your ground for buddies to arrive.

It feels great when you win those encounters.

Spot on. I remember how challenging it felt to get used to the analog stick aiming your attacks but once it clicked it became so much fun. I'm really enjoying Dominion more and more now that I understand the more optimal ways to get points.

So, I'm playing the tutorial session (for the bonus gold) as a Viking, and I am not sure if this is Viking only, but I swear I can hear women voices from the ordinary soldiers but when I look around all I see are bearded dudes...

hmmmm

Yeah I used to mess up trying to do mixups. A lot of it is muscle memory. Now I can go right heavy, high light, left heavy, right light, guard break, or whatever else combo I wanna do and it's all instinctive.

Practice makes perfect! If you find someone nice, add 'em for sparring.

Speaking of, anyone who wants a PC sparring partner, please add me. I work Weekends so I'll only be on in evenings, but happy to play. I'm a moderately advanced player, so if you're new, I can help you learn the basics, if you're not, I could use some competition.

Name is Buttzerker on Uplay.

i was not expecting the game to be like this, what a disappointment

it's not bad, far from it, it's amazing and unique

but the game is not as simple as i thought

it's kinda like a fighting game but with swords, there are combos and you can master a character, that's great, for fighting games hardcore fans, i suck at fighting games

i'm sure the game will be a huge success because it really is a unique game, but it's just not for me

Edit: forgot to mention the graphics and animation, only one word to describe them, WOW, Uncharted 4 finally has a rival graphics\animation wise(still not as good as UC4 though)

For some reason I thought my progress in the closed beta would carry over to the open one.
Kind of sucks that I'm all the way back to rank 1 again.

Play the 4v4 modes. Fighting games can be intimidating because they're generally 1v1, but For Honor solves this problem with teamplay. In Dominion, you can focus on capturing/holding objectives, killing minions, etc. Or just roll with teammates and try to gank people 2v1 (just watch out for revenge).

Same here..i go 1v1 with the Kenshei and Nobushi and I always win. Switch it out and i get wrecked in 3 rounds. Managing stamina is a big deal for some of these operators.

Try to launch from Steam and I get this uPlay error:

"A Ubisoft service is not available at the moment. You can try again later or switch to offline mode."

Anyone else getting this?

Same deal. Grrr.

I played it on PS4 for a sec and found the 30 fps off putting so I wanted to test it on PC.. But yeah. I knew uplay would make the PC version a joy

Played 8mins(the tutorial?) and didn't like it one bit. Just not my cup of tea I guess.

Thanks Ubi for doing free Betas. People can decide if they like a game without spending 60€.

I'm getting a different message . "Unable to start game. This product cannot be activated right now please try again later "

A lot of people have been playing on Uplay all morning, think they are just not quite prepared for all the people that are trying to play.

Fuck this game is hard!
My character seems so slow and how do you avoid the guard break? Some giant Viking just ran up to me and pushed me off a bridge before I could do anything! Haha

Fun game but I have no idea what I'm doing.

You may also have a new patch you need to download. Make sure you check for that before trying to play on uplay. It won't let you even boot on steam if you don't.

Do the advanced tutorial (you also get 1500g for it)

Depends on which guard break. Normal guard breaks can be teched similar to fighting games by hitting the guard break button at the exact moment of impact. However, any attack that is coming out at the same time as a GB will take priority. This means if you run into someone who is very guard break happy you can mash light attacks or attack with well-timed heavies to both stop the opponent and ruin their stamina.

Based on your description however I think you got hit by the raiders running grab, in which case the best method to avoid that is dark souls it up and roll before he hits you.

Nope its updated. Won't even let me register the game and it blue screened my machine. Doing a real good job here on selling me this game.

Bearded Viking women.

Thanks! Was so keen to jump online I didn't even see the advanced tutorial.

I need to use roll/evade more often it would seem. I haven't even been paying any attention to the stamina meta either!
