Forza Horizon 3 PC Performance Thread

Yeah it definitely runs better, I can pretty much maintain 60 with everything maxed out besides shadows on high instead of Ultra. Once I would get into that city area it would just max out at 45 even though I would be fine outside of it. So glad they fixed this.

So uh, how's this running on roughly scorpio equivalent systems? I know it's a dumb question but I just can't help myself

It may be very wishful thinking, but I wonder if any of the improvements means there's a possibility of a 1080p/60 option on Scorpio in addition to a 4k/30 option?

I'm tempted to re-download this and try it out on my outdated rig (3570K- 970 - 8GB RAM). Not sure how well it would run at 1440p even though it's a G-Sync monitor.

I don't. I reinstalled the game yesterday after not having played it for quite a few months. Back then it was working just fine, though the performance was a bit wonky.

So when I heard they did some good stuff with the performance I decided to give it another bash.

And then, nothing but frustration.
Sounds like you've exhausted all the usual troubleshooting. See if you can't get HeliosT10's attention. He's been posting in this thread.

Since I moved the game from my ssd to my hdd I'll try deleting and installing it to the HDD. But that'll have to wait until after midnight. (unlimited data at night)

Is HDR now in?
Currently its only included in the Xbox One Edition =/
Would be nice if we can get HDR also on the PC version =)

I want to start a new game with this new patch to experience everything new again, but I'd basically be losing the gift cars T10 has sent me as well as my GAF club progress.

Probably not worth it and just play the missions over again.

I think it was in one of the digital foundry articles that an example of a DX12 game running on scorpio could potentialy go from 30 to 60 fps, I assume that is 1080p or maybe checkerboard?

I'm running FH3 on this setup on 'Ultra' preset at 30fps/1080p. Zero hiccups so you may be able to run Ultra at 1440p without an issue at 30fps. I tried out 'High' preset at 60fps and would get between 50-60fps depending on where I was in the game but the variability of the frame rate drove me crazy so I settled on 30fps.

If you messed around with the settings enough, you could definitely get a constant 60fps. For comparison, I couldn't even run 'Medium' at 60fps before this patch and even 'Medium' would take framerate hits on the 30fps setting.

This patch has completely redeemed the FH3 PC port.

So far it seems to work just like the old version.

Yeah I had to update RTSS manually to version 7.0, now it works! :)

As for the patch, I'm very pleased here, in normal gameplay scenarios I can hold 74fps now (I have my monitor overclocked to 74hz) and I never drop below 60fps. When loading a new area in free-roam I drop to around 62 and Surfers Paradise drops to around 65fps for moments depending on what's happening. I could probably play at a locked 60fps now but I don't mind the small fluctuations as I most of the time manage to hold 74fps. That's a far cry from before the patch, they did it! :D

System:

i5 3570k @ 4.4ghz
GTX 1070 @ 2012mhz core 4500mhz memory
16gb DDR3 RAM @ 2ghz
Windows 10 Anniversary Update

Settings:

All maxed out to Ultra
1080p
2x MSAA
V-sync @ 74hz

Decided to lock the game to 60FPS and just run it at 4K instead of 1440p with varying FPS between 80 and 130. All settings maxed and MSAAx4 and it still hasn't dropped a single time in the Hot Wheels area to my surprise. And there's plenty of GPU power to spare, since with unlocked FPS I was getting around 80-90FPS at 4K with 2xMSAA (which was only the only time I've seen the GPU usage sit at 99% almost all the time).

I get the occasional loading stutter where the framerate drops.. but after the more recent patches there was some serious rubberbanding going on w/ other cars where it seemed like the environment was stretching and compressing and the other cars were moving weirdly in addition to more pronounced stuttering.

what exists in the game now for me is nothing compared to what it was.

What's your gamertag please?

If others are seeing this exact same issue can you also please let me know your gamertag.

Hello HeliosT10,

Im also having problems travelling to Blizzard Moutain, it stays on "infinite loading", i´ve reseted the app and redownloaded the expansion, the first time everything went fine but after i returned to Byron Bay and tried to return again to Blizzard mountain it stayed on inifnte loading again :\

GT: cyenz 1904

I dont have stuttering. 0 Issues.

It's much less prevalent now, but it's still there for everyone in certain areas (surfers paradise especially). Before this patch I had stuttering everywhere in the world, now it's only a few occasional ones in some areas.

You don't have some magical version of the game and it is there, you just might not be sensitive enough to notice it and should be glad for that then. Ignorance is bliss when it comes to stuttering. ;_;

See my comment above, do you have the expansion pass or did you buy both expansions separately?

This is running absolutely perfectly for me now. I have not noticed any micro stutter. I am running it maxed out (except MSAA which is at 4x) at 4k, perfect, butter smooth 60fps. It is glorious.

Have you bought the expansion pass or did you get the expansions separately? Same question applies to anyone who is experiencing crashes/infinite loading screens when trying to access Blizzard Mountain.
I bought the Expansion Pass way back when.

I don't know if it's relevant, but I play on both Xbox and PC interchangeably. Though since HW came out, I've been almost entirely on PC so far.

Also, AMD drivers above 17.2.1 have an infinite loading screen just trying to get into the base game (not BM), and has been an issue for several weeks now. Maybe more than a month. 17.5.1 included. So I'm on the older drivers.

Thanks for looking into it.

Whenever I get the infinite loading screen, hitting the windows key on the keyboard instantly causes the game to load. Been like this for months now. Also any idea on the 2x/4x MSAA glitch on 21:9 resolutions being fixed?

I just installed blizzard mountain and tried to travel to it for the first time.

Also getting infinite loading.

It's actually funny that they haven't added HDR support to FH3 and Gears4 after saying many words on how 1703 makes it possible and all.

In which case the onus is on the developers. I don't think those words included any calls for the automation of its integration. Have the developers ever alluded to them waiting on its standardization within Windows?

I reinstalled the game today, after a couple months, and it takes about 10 minutes now to complete first loading. After that it runs fine, no bugs or framedrops... any tips?

I have a 1070 and can run it maxed out and maintain a locked 60fps. I don't notice any form of stuttering.

1060 GTX, 3570k 4.2ghz 8gb ram and installed to SSD.

1440p ranging from about 80-90fps outside of the city with g sync on, still have microstuttering.Tried turning gsync off, changed refresh rate to 60 and locked v sync, still microstuttering.

Just tried GTA V and get around the same framerate, but it's a perfectly smooth without any stutter whatsoever.

Maybe it's more of a problem on lower spec machines.
