Forza Horizon 3 PC Performance Thread

Anyone know how to wipe single player progress and restart? I tried the method posted earlier in this thread (reset via apps & features > Forza Horizon 3 > Advanced > Reset) and that cleared my settings etc, but didn't touch my save file. I just continued where I already was.

There must be a way to restart the single player mode no?

This works for me except the input lag is fucking terrible at 30fps, way worse than the Xbone verison.

Wondered if it was just me. I don't mind playing at 1080p Ultra 30fps locked. But the input lag is out of this world in that state, using a game pad is almost impossible. The car turns like a half second after I move the stick, it's so weird.

I can play at unlocked frames no vsync at high/ultra (mostly ultra w/8xaa no fxaa) and I'm getting 60+ frame rates like 90% of the time but I'd rather do a locked steady 30 fps but can't cause of the insane input delay.

Console games at 30fps feel fine, but 30fps vsync in this PC version feels so delayed.

Agree. On Xbox One 30fps seems very smooth and no stuttering, trying to do 30fps on the PC version and it felt very bad.

anyone having issues downloading it from the MS store? Mine keeps stopping at around 7.45 GB. Says it's downloading but it's not changing from 7.45 GB

edit: now it's going. fuckin slow ass download

They only way I find to alleviate this is to set a custom resolution for 30hz.

Have never dipped below 60 FPS at 2560x1440 with ultra settings and 4x MSAA.

i7-6700K
GTX 1080
32GB DDR4
Installed to SSD

Despite the frame rate hovering anywhere between 60-80FPS, the hitching is damn near constant. Sometimes it'll hitch every 3 or so seconds and when things get crazy it'll hitch several times per second. Glad to see that the devs are aware of this. It's not going to stop me from playing after work, but it could be so much better.

Games fucked Bubs.

Down the right hand side I am getting lots of stuff like that, only a finger wide and happens when I rewind too... anyone else had that problem?

On a side note, game runs amazing on a 1080 GTX with predator x34 gsync :)

So any consensus? Can I run this at Ultra 1440p60 with a 6700k/1080?

I'm waiting for the demo anyway. The game is crazy expensive in Europe. No guaranteed 60 fps, no buy.

Have you actually watched these videos? Even the updated one from Gamersyde shows pretty apparent microstuttering almost all the time.

I watched 2 videos. One of them was before the new nvidia driver which ran at 55-60fps. The second one (with the new driver) was pretty much a locked 60fps.

Ok,i fixed MOST of the stuttering on my PC. I have a 980ti and a gsync monitor (X34). Here's what worked for me.

Turn off Gsync
Set Vertical Sync to Fast in Nvidia Control Panel
Turn on Vertical Sync in game
Lock your framerate (on my monitor its 50 because I'm running OC'd at 100mhz)
Framerate Smoothing (on in game)
Dynamic Optimization (off in game)

Basically you want to adjust whatever settings you can to get a locked fps with as little fluctuations as possible.

I have zero stuttering/hitching now,the only hitches I get is when the framerate drops to 48ish when alot of stuff is happening on screen. The random hitches every few seconds, even in open areas, are gone now. HUGE improvement for me.

Just wanted to report there is no force feedback with Fanatec wheels and almost no force feedback with logitech wheels on PC. If you own one of these wheels and want to use it with FH3, I suggest you wait until there is a fix.

Reading the thread... *smh*

Looks at PC..looks at download currently at 42gig....maybe..just maybe..it'll be different for me!

Special Snowflake Syndrome sucks...

so first time trying to launch it tells me I don't meet the minimum spec - need to update my graphics driver. Now Nvidia geforce experience (which just updated itself) has decided I don't have an internet connection so it won't download a new driver.

Game runs a solid 60fps @1080p for me

i5 6500k
Evga gtx 1060 (6gb)
16GB DDR 4 ram

Game installed on a Samsung evo ssd

Only get a bit of vibration on collisions and random road surface with thrustmaster T150. There is basically no tire, counter steer FFB. Same on XB1?

If you have the Clubsport Universal Hub for Xbox one then you will get FFB if you put it into Xbox mode. You do have to connect the pedals to the base though to get them working. If you don't have the hub then you are correct you can steer just no FFB.

I only got to play about 15 minutes but the FFB felt pretty good and that was without any tweaking. I had to turn down the vibration because it was a little overkill when driving offroad.

I wish the game had dynamic rendering selectable on each separate setting, like Apex.

Hopefully Playground is working on sorting out performance and stuttering ASAP.

Ok, hold on to your butts. Here's how I did it:

-Reset the Windows 10 game like you say in your post.
-Went to my Xbone and downloaded the game until it said "Playable". Started the game once.
-Went to Manage Game->Saves and chose Delete Everywhere,
-Booted the game on Win 10, tada, fresh start.

As far as I know, there's no way to manage the cloud saves on Windows 10. So if you don't have a Xbox, I really don't know.

MS PC Gaming focus keeps delivering.

Feels fine to me at 30fps on PC and comparable to the XB1 version.

Have you played around with the dead zones on the analogue sticks in the settings, they could be giving some appearance of lag.

The input polling and physics run at 360hz in Forza games, separate from the graphics update. Or at least they should do.

Having a i5 750 and 8 GB of RAM, I was thinking of getting a GTX 1080 now before buying a Kaby Lake CPU/mainboard in January.
Any chance for me to play this in 1080/60 fps or are CPU and RAM just not enough, no matter the GPU?

that's my setup ! but i got an i7 and dd3
can you try 3440x1440? or 4k with that card?

Only played a little so far, it's stayed pretty solid at 60 FPS for me--though I haven't gotten into a city yet or anything. Playing in 1080p, with FPS set to 60 and the dynamic render quality on high (tried ultra and it dips down into the 45-50 range). I haven't messed with the settings in advance since it's running well as is, and I'm not much of tweaker.

GTX970, i7-4790k 4.0 ghz, 16gb RAM.

Yeah, I really miss that feature. I understand why dynamic is ideal and I've been mostly using that, but I'm not happy with how little it seems to value things like texture filtering. I want that at high more than nearly any other setting. Honestly I'd be happy with just having that as a hard lock option, I don't even care so much about the rest.

Performance was okay for me in the Outback races, on the whole. Still got some loading hitches, but it's significantly better than the opening area and Surfer's Paradise.

Hope they at least fix the VIP issue soon. Missing out on all those improved spins sucks.

Game has a funny issue.

It keeps locking the framerate at different numbers.
Sometimes when I start it's locked at 48. Other times it's 60. Mid race it decides to change that lock to 20 or any other number... Any idea what's causing this?

My task manager shows no increased usage in this time, so it's NOT an CPU or Ram issue.

Been playing for a few hours now on my PC - i7 4790@4.4ghz, 1080, 16GB 2133 DDR3, SSD.
Started with 4K and no MSAA only FXAA. 60fps most of the time with the odd drop to 55+.. It felt like it was due to data streaming as it only happened at the beginning when hurtling about in that lambo.
However when I hit Surfers Paradise frame rate took a dive. Initially not too bad, 55fps-ish. But there are one or two places where it went down to 30+. Oddly I stopped the car and just looking about affected frame rate - one direction 60, another 30 with no obvious reason why.
Even 1440p and 2xMSAA hurts the frames too much in that area.
No hitching or judder. Very smooth.

Anyway apart from that the game looks pretty good. The lighting is excellent and the cars look great.
It is a shame that the shadow cast as day turns to night is jerky. But you barely notice it when driving.
There is still some pop-in but greatly reduced compared to the console version.

Only other graphical complaint is the shadow detail on the road ahead of your car changes far too close to you and creates the illusion that there's a box around your car. This is only an issue where there are a lot of shadows on the road ahead, otherwise it's not much of an issue.
And the garage/shop/tuning menu is weirdly slow dropping to 30 fps when changing body parts and wheels.

I am really enjoying the game and can't wait to get back to playing it.

Quite a lot for me as well, trying not to get distracted by it but it's pretty hard when the horizon (heh) is nothing but trees popping in and out.

I don't remember it being bad on Forza Horizon 2 to bother me, maybe something is bugged? I'm considering migrating it to an SSD to see.

Mines on a sdd, everything else runs smooth it's just the trees and stuff that pop in. ah well just have to get use to it I guess.

Anyone else's game crash at the playground icon and goes back to desktop on start up? It starts after i restart my PC, I don't get it!?

If you have a mic plugged in try unplugging that and then start the game.

Also, do you have AVAST installed?

I have the exact same problem, I have to restart the PC to start the game again, each time I exit the game or when it crashes.

As I said in the Forza Forums, I don't have Avast nor any microphone (I even disabled every input).

Restarting the PC "fixes" it but that should not work that way.
