Forza Motorsport 4 - The Floodgates Have Opened...

Played it at gamescom today. Dan Greenawalt was at the scene and I must admit he was very kind and taking time to have a chat. Demo was the Alps track and it was great to drive. This game is gonna be a real blast to play:D

Demo was rocksolid with no tearing and a very steady framerate. I hated that the LCD's were very badly calibrated....on some tv's it looked kinda awful ( way too sharp, gamma too high etc. ).

edit: buddy playing forza @ 3 lcd set-up. Looked great

Gamespot: Forza Motorsport 4 Gamescom 2011 (18 minutes Demo)

Watching now :)

That Top Gear studio homespace is some seriously hot shit. The car porn in this game is several orders of magnitude above FM3's. I need this in my veins, like, NAO.

Dan mentioned the 458, Veyron, and 908 as FM3 profile import gift cars-- provided you were at a sufficient career level. A top-tier LMP1 on day one? Instant gratification... feels good man.

Yeah, the lighting in the Top Gear showroom is awesome. October can't come soon enough.

Damnit need to rebuild my FM3 garage since I lost my save. Good thing I had a bunch of storefront money tucked away :/

So basically what you're telling me is that I have to hit level 50 before F4 launches. My level 41 save got deleted when I installed the F3 Ultimate Edition and have been working back to that, at level 21 or so.

That M5 in the Top Gear homespace is crazy hot!

Anyone got any info on how many homespaces we'll have yet? It'd be cool if you could change the homespace and have a preferred one everytime you start the game up. Spent ages just watching the F3 homespace.

I'm happy that we've got the info on what the profile import is based on now aswell, I've been farming credits and cars the last couple of weeks, now I don't need to soo much.

Level 500 sounds good and quite sane when you think we'll be unlocking tuning parts also.

Sounds like it takes your level and the cars in your garage into account

Works for me, I was going to build up my garage once I started hitting level 30. It's so tough to get credits in this game though, so many different cars I want to race.

Fuck me five times with a fish fork, that Beemer in the TG homespace is sexual.
There's no other way to describe it.

I'm off to shake some hot white coconuts from the love tree before I explode.

Good thing I never bought a single Porsche in FM3 considering they're not gonna be in this game
:lol

I gotta check the game and see if theres anything else to buy. There should be a couple more cars I wanted at some point in time...

Not a big Porsche fan myself either. I won't by crushed if it isn't in the game. The RUF will do.

Looks awesome. I really hope Tokyo and Shipyard is back with these kind of reflections on the cars.

M3 actually :blush.

Anyways, that gif is amazing! Gamespot video is amazing!

Dan really does sell the game very well and you can feel the enthusiasm he has for it.

I feel liked I'm being a little spoiled at the moment and have an urge to not watch many more videos, as not to spoil it, but I just can't help myself. ha.

Be great to use kinect to show off some paint jobs up close and personal. Oh well if not. Hoping you can sell locked paints. So much fun knowing u have a ayojube limited Ed. Paint that can be sold to the highest bidder. Who wants the Mona Lisa if as soon as you purchase it it no longer exists. Only to u. Valueless to everyone else cause it can't be sold!

I do find it odd that their isn't the new Fanatec wheels being shown more publicly. I really wonder if they'll be available for launch of the game.

In fact it's weird that none of the supposed wheels such as the Madcatz are being shown. After Forza 4 there is going to be a 2 year dry spell for console sim racers to really push the wheel for.

Isn't Kinect useless for this game? Why would i want to move to see a car close, etc?

Honestly, I'm contemplating it just for the menu functions. Plus I have a kid so it wouldn't be completely worthless.

Head tracking.

Menu hopping shortcuts.

Autovista coolness.

The first one should really make it justifyable and not just for this game but for others.

well, that's homespace (not autovista, though, mind you).
this is fm4 at its best, i don't think lighting and reflections will be anywhere near this good ingame. But damn, does it look hot.
Well, even keeping in mind that offscreen vid is prolly making everything look more realistic and hiding a few issues like aliasing.
curious to see how many different homespace locations are there and if they can be used as locations for autovista. Looked like that from trailers.

Seanspeed, we've had lengthy debates on fm.net about Race Pro in the past, and I respect you and your opinions.

I know my opinion has no bearing on how you feel about Turn 10 or the game. I love Forza too, and you know I'm a race replica painting addict/whore. I love mimicking the motorsports I follow through the racing, mostly through custom multi-class lobbies. I also know I'm coming off as sour grapes about this so far, but I am still looking forward to it and just hoped they'd acknowledge their tried and true fan base a bit more.

Granted they have in many ways, i.e. the car list, brining back car clubs, importing vinyl groups, re-working the cockpits, improving the lighting and graphics, etc.

Since you brought it up, if I were in charge of development, I'd keep the starting car list somewhat simlar to 3's, adding new cars down the line via DLC.

I'd listen to the fans and put back in some FM1 tracks. I know for a fact they worked on Blue Mountains for fm2 before it got cut. NY Long might be a quicker addition since the environment assest in already in.

I'd listen to the real world track requests and put resources towards creating Spa and/or Bathurst. I'd update Silverstone, and keep the old layouts like Shift did.

I'd make more use of the ALMS license with a few more tracks if time permittted before release, or offer one or two as DLC. I'd at least update the liveries to the 2010 season, and maybe have the 2011 season cars and liveries as a DLC pack in the future.

I would have taken a page from Race Pro or Shift and added some well needed track texture and bumps to all of the courses, so they aren't all glass smooth.

I would have saved time but not including a Kinect arcade mode. I would not have spent a lengthy ammount of time on another fictional mountain track since Ladera, Iberian, and Camino Viejo are similar.

People want variety, and aside from the car collector othergame5 mentality some have, most would prefer it to be in the form of track variation. I would have put more focus on that.

But I understand Turn 10's goals, make the game appeal to many markets, and that both makes Forza fantastic and hampers it in specific areas at the same time. It's so vast it appeals to casuals, online racers, hotlappers, drifters, motorsport series fans, painters, photographers, and general car nuts. Add in the new Kinect driving mode and they'll possible gain another demographic.
All of this is a big undertaking for a 2 year cycle, and like you said, you can't have it all. Or please everyone.
You might not have put effort into a new mountain track, but you've gotta realize one of the big reasons for it is for them to have a showcase for the new graphics. Real-life tracks dont tend to be very stimulating from an aesthetics point-of-view. Its a smart move by Turn 10 and we still get a new track(which looks like a very fast and flowing circuit).

I'm not sure you understand that I'm all for more tracks and pretty much everything else you said. I'd love to have the new Silverstone layout. I'm just not gonna go and say that Turn 10 are doing something wrong with their priorities, cuz I understand perfectly the sort of dilemma they are in in trying to cater to so many different types of players. And at the end of the day, the wider the audience they bring in, the more money they make, and we can continue to get great Forza games in the future. Focus too much on the motorsports-aspects and I dont think Microsoft would be willing to fund such a project.

I want more tracks and I'd be glad if we got a bunch more. But I'll still defend Turn 10 in this respect because I know its what they kind of need to do. I think you're assuming that we in this thread and those at FM.net represent the majority of Forza players. I'm gonna have a guess and say that 80% of the people who buy Forza 4 would probably think 'Spa' is a place you take to get your car washed. ;)

I love the fantasy tracks that Turn 10 does. Fantasy tracks also allow for more ribbons than most real world tracks.

Camino Viejo Extreme is one of my favorite tracks ever. So fast on the back straight and so scary on the downhill.
