Ooookay. I dont want to get you into trouble. But could you ask whoever is responsible for that blog about sharing links between the blogs if his blog is also about unknown music? My blog is linked multiple times here to check it out for him, just get back to me via pm or mail. :)

Needed to ask, sorry, need every attention I can get ;)

Current link again for the new page:

Rigoletto - Prodigal again (EP)

I really, really like the way the singer of song 1,3 and 4 uses her voice. Her way of singing is mesmerizing, even though I wasn't actually in the mood for these kind of songs.

Oh and btw, I have currently about 42 hours of music on my mp3 player almost no one ever heard about. That thought is sorta crazy. No idea how to get all of this out to people. If you want to help by writing reviews (or Interviews), hook me up with a message here or the using the mail on my blog.

We also got mail that Ektoise are working on live video performances, will be posted as soon as we get them :)

I Come To Shanghai - nice indie rock album you can download for free or name your price.

Couple of recent experimental albums by Omar Rodriguez Lopez that you can download for free (or donate any amount if you wish);

Omar Rodriguez Quartet - Sepulcros de Miel - weird electronic jazz/funk/rock fusion

Omar Rodriguez Lopez & John Frusciante - electronic ambient music with soaring, layered guitar tracks

In case anybody doesn't know, Omar Rodriguez Lopez is one of the guys from the Mars Volta.

Something that wasnt present on the blog so far at all, time for some Industrial Noise today.
I still can't find out what that sample was, and it drove me nuts for a good hour scouring.

And while this isn't up for review, yet, Suspense Machine's An Empty Sky Ep is quite excellent and i'd recommend it anyone with a passing interest in progressive rock or bands fronted by female singers. Absolutely beautiful voice.

I did a ctrl+f for this and found nothing- its a bit older so my apologies

Decomposure: Primarily electronic / rap music but a little scatter shot and awesome.

Humanity Patent Guide

Most of the sound comes from cheap mp3 players, cassettes and dictaphones to keep things portable, so it's definitely pretty lo-fi. i've long been thinking of it as a kind of parenthetical album or tangential EP, even though it breaks the 50-minute mark and i've spent more time in it than some other albums. It still feels like an album made 'for fun', window-shopping through folk, abstract rap, noise, electronic, piano pop, ambient, spoken word, industrial, chants, field recordings, and whatever else you call the stuff between them, but it's also more than 'for fun'. i don't know - i don't have enough distance to properly frame it; i know the fabric and stitching intimately but don't know what it amounts to yet.

Verticle Lines A

Decomposure (spare time musician/art guy Caleb Mueller) followed his average day around to capture and preserve its unique sound signature that would otherwise have simply evaporated. Over the course of the year following that recorded day, he worked through a detailed process of digitally deconstructing each hour-long slur of sound into hundreds of individual clicks and thumps and pings. Then he built songs from them. Or song-ish things, anyway.

...bright harmonic pop refracts through bristling drill'n'bass, handcrafted electrofunk bumps up against epic abstract glitch-hop, cavernous acoustic meditation shares a table with field recordings and jittery dancehall. Of course, shifting across genre lines this restlessly could just as easily disintegrate into unfocused mush, and it does. Or wait, no, Decomposure manages to patch the elements together by anchoring them to crisp, unvarnished vocals and the precise punctuation of his careful beat orchestration.

The others are on the same site and I'll let you track those down if you remain interested :)

If you don't have too much free time to devote to them, I'd recommend not grabbing Humanity Patent Guide- its one 50 min track.

His other albums are more standard 3-7 min song fair.

I just wanted to thank the OP for this thread. I haven't listened to a lot of the stuff yet, but I've listened to all of your 5 star rated albums and they're all great. Exit Island and Mystery Schools especially are incredible. If you like good music, you need to check these out!

Don't stick with just the 5-star albums. 3-4's are some damn good finds as well.

Indeed. If you are through with 5*, take a look at 3 and 4. They are more a matter of personal taste I guess but many 4* albums are still some of my favorite stuff on the blog.

That and the rating system isn't based solely on reviewer opinion.

Anyone familiar with King Swamp or The Badlees? I love both groups, any indies with similar sounds?

Not sure what genre they are, "it's all rock 'n roll to me" :)

I guess maybe they'd be a southern/folk rock maybe?

Hey guys, I run a music blog with a section specifically called Great Free Music that some of you might be interested in. It's all legal and offered by the artists themselves for free, mostly on sites like bandcamp. Most of the stuff I post falls within the genres of hip hop, soul, funk, electronic, chillout, etc. Here's one of my favorite free albums recently released by Cult Classic Records: http://tenmillionsounds.com/2011/09/cult-classic-records-friends-family/

It's mostly instrumental, jazzy hip hop that's perfect to relax with. The guy who started the label was originally just a YouTube uploader who got a huge following and eventually started the label with a producer who he promoted a lot on his channel.. crazy huh?

Finding interesting/enjoyable hip-hop has been something I've tried to do recently, to little effect. Our crawling of bandcamp doesn't come up with much in this area worth listening to. I'll definitely give it a look.

Posted it in the... August W,YLT? thread. It's interesting, not what I expected.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. If you're into Nujabes style of stuff or underground hip hop, I'd definitely check out the channel of the guy I mentioned, Bob42jh. He has hundreds of great hip hop videos, I found his channel a few months ago through GAF, and I've been checking it regularly since.

Here's one I just found that's already one of my favorites.
CL - Catch A Vibe

I went out of my way to listen to something very similar after so much noise and techno in a row.
Will be giving that a go while I find something standout to write up.

Same reason. Most people tend to like the easier on the ears stuff anyway. But its really nice to have some variety.

Friends band from Denmark

Instrumental post rock, really good stuff. Free to download, just add 0.00 for a price.
I've actually been listening to this for about a week or so as possible review material. It's good stuff.
Did not expect to see them come up from someone besides Toma or I.

I swear I was going to post a review later today :).
I guess when we get the Wing Dam interview done with I'll do a double whammy and post both.

Also, Holy Mount - Not a Jodorowsky film soundtrack (kinda sadly I suppose), but really good space rock to let your mind roam free for a while.

I just posted it so you can prepare the interview to publish soon :) I think most people will check only the newest entry once in a while, so doing 2 at once would rather lead to one blog entry going unnoticed. Hope you didnt mind too much.

Anyway, here it goes:

It's all good, especially the music ;)

The more I look at the cover art... the more I ask myself why they did that. I mean who actually thought that this would be a good "representation" of their music?

Is it also the same for you guys, that cover art somewhat shapes expectations? How does that influence your enjoyment of the music?

For example I had a guy earlier who just had himself on the cover and his muscles. I though okaaaaay, listened to it and couldnt imagine that guy singing that song. It was totally weird. It also didnt help that his second song had screechingly high shouted line "It feels so hot in my pants"

So, so awkward. At least use appropriate album covers people.
