No one shall be brought before our LORD David Bowie without the true and secret knowledge of the Photoshop. For in that time, so shall He appear.
Alright quick story time. I have (well, had) the AIM screen name “Shigeru Miyamoto”. Not only did I get tons of unsolicited messages during the height of AIM, but some of those people were actual gaming news publications. There was one site (ran by a single person iirc) that interviewed me thinking I was the REAL Miyamoto, and I gave an interview pretty consistent with what I knew about Miyamoto at the time.

At the end of the interview, the person asked for some sort of new reveal, and at the time I said something like “the new Zelda game will be on the GameCube and Nintendo Revolution.”, completely pulling that out of my ass.

But lo and behold, Twilight Princess ended up being released on both GameCube and Wii. And I like to think that, somehow, I helped make that happen.

Wish I could find that interview. I want to say that some relatively large site at the time (probably not IGN but something like it) wrote an article about the interview, too. I haven’t found it, but I’m pretty sure it’s still out there. That’s not the only celebrity I impersonated for fun on AIM, either. Lol, good times.

I remember when I got msn in middle school on a PC with internet. I also had just found porn. Sent some in grade 7 around to my MSN list. One was a girl.

Girls dad showed up to my house. “Your son is sending my daughter porn.”

What a time to be alive. He found my address in the phone book or well my parents and marched right on over.

Guess he was more of a girl on girl kind of guy.

We have to go back

Right first off, we're mates and you know that. So when you next tickle Phil's balls get a fucken cigar cutter out and tell him they're gone unless he gives into these demands:

1. Reintroduce MSN messenger to Xbox
2. Re-release the little gay chatpad thing
3. a pending demand that we'll change when we see fit
4: Do Blades again

I still have my hotmail account. Though, I switched to Gmail when it launched. However, I am moving to a Microsoft Business account so I can have my own domain email now. It's pretty rad actually.

Did anyone else used to do "status updates" by changing their name and then faking your signed off and then went back online? Those were the days.

There are revival servers so you can install any version of MSN you like and add each other.

I don't know if it works on the new version of Windows though because I'm using it on XP.

I was honestly curious if XP was still supported so I asked google. I love the recommended OS at the end:

After 12 years, support for Windows XP will end on April 8, 2014. There will be no more security updates or Microsoft provided technical support for the Windows XP operating system. It is very important that customers and partners migrate to a modern operating system such as Windows 7 or 8.1. Moreover, since Microsoft stopped updating Windows XP in 2014 - it has no protection against today's malware, so it's really not safe to use it on the internet, and I would certainly advise you not to use it.

Am I imagining things but I seem to remember for a while you could use msn messenger on the Xbox 360?

XBOX friends list integration on the native windows live messenger app was a thing at some point
Don't recall an XBOX native app for MSN but there were a bunch that came and went during the "NXE" days so maybe

I remember leaving school, getting home, turning my PC, having to dial up to conect to the internet, opening MSN, playing the soundtrack of NFS: Underground, and chating with my friends about 14yo problems

Today is easier, but back in the day there's charm while today doesn't
