Game Grumps (aka Egoraptor plays some games)

I feel silly. I always thought Signs by Tesla was from the '60s or something. I mean it sounds like it is. Why is it from 1990? I'm so confused and shocked!

Oh man. Arin opting for a wall jump that probably wouldn't have worked instead of a double jump today in Mario 64 was infuriating. After spending an entire episode getting to there too. Does he just. Not know about the double/triple jump.

Man, it's always a ball when they are playing Chu-Chu Rocket on the show. I still consider the Arin/Jon series of that game to be the most chaotic playthrough they have done.

Nah, he was doing it constantly in the first world and promptly never use it again ever.

Why does Dan suck so much at Chu Chu Rocket? It seems like he's high every time there's a game that takes the absolute slightest amount of thought. Don't the a, b, x, and y butttons place that direction arrow? I've never seen someone struggle so thoroughly struggle at being able to tell directions. He's guided more mice into other people's bases than his own throughout that playthrough.

The game is very fast, he never saw the game before, and I'm willing to bet that Arin never told him how to play beforehand in order to make the episode more entertaining. With all of those factors being combined I can imagine the game completely overwhelming someone.

"Oh, a Mario Party 10 Grumpcade! This should be fun."

::11 minutes of them not understanding how to play the game and bitching about it being different constantly::

"Sonic could've been in it, then it could've been...Super Sonico."

I'm onto you, Dan.

I wish someone had told Arin before he went to Japan that you can get 5 coins from the giant Goombas if you butt-stomp them. It's so sad to see him pass up 4 whole coins per Goomba.

I'm beginning to guess that Arin does not know that the clock is a level at all they think they are only 100 coins and secrets stars left witch off course not true.
2 who levels left, clock + sky level

The secret stars they have left:

- The red coin stars in at least three of the three hat levels and 2 Bowser levels they've done (3)
- The flying course Arin keeps failing at (4)
- Extra star from the basement bunny (5)
- Extra star from the slide (6)
- Toad's free stars (9)
- The red coin star in Bowser's last stage (10)

I'd rather they just go fight Bowser now. This series sucks. Arin doesn't know what he's doing and is just complaining the entire time.

Sleepy Grumps are worst Grumps.

They sound so uninterested in the game and Arin is too delirious to play the game right. I'd rather go a day without a new Grump episode than have a week of Sleepy Grumps episodes.

I agree. As much as I love me some Grumps while I'm eating lunch or whatever, I'd much rather everyone be at full power.

Arin: Crash Bandicoot, Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time are all terrible games

Did the z-axis murder his parents or something

Crash Bandicoot "rudimentary"...

In 1996, aside from Mario, Naughty Dog managed to get 3D platforming alright.

Arin is being really fucking selective with his memory.

Next thing he's going to praise bubsy 3D.

It's really frustrating to hear them say how bad a game is and then find out that they actually never thought it was a good game to begin with. Same thing is happening with their Mario Party videos; we get it -- the old ones are better.

Can't wait for Arin to do a Mario sequelitis where he blames the game for him being bad at it and acts really smug about the possibility of pissing off nerds

As someone who never had an N64, the Mario 64 play through has been great. He's having all the same problems with the dumb controls that I did whenever I went over to a friends house. But even for games I know well, it never really bothers me when they mess up. I know that first of all, when we think back on the games we enjoyed as a kid the good parts are emphasized in our memory, and all of the time spent going in circles or trying and failing tends to get de-emphasized and squished together in our memory. Plus, even people I watch that are really good speedrunners can get distracted and perform poorly when they are paying too much attention to chat and commentary. For Game Grumps, commentary is like 90% of what they do. So complaining about a lack of skill always seemed dumb.

Mario 64 play through is making me want to kill myself. I empathise with Dan on this.

Someone tell Arin that he doesn't have to slog the 100 coins missions on every level, because there are entire levels he hasn't seen yet.

I really like the Mario 64 run. There's just some aspects that I don't enjoy, but I would've stopped watching long ago if I was only going to hate on it. It's sometimes hilarious when Arin screws up. But if the goal is to entertain and they're not doing a good job; i.e annoying the audience or terrible low energy commentary -- people should probably tell them. Like Danny's a good guy -- we would've had like 4 or 5 episodes now where nothing happens if he didn't point it out.

First off I'd say the controls in Mario 64 are quite good (Mario's movement is far more free than it is in later games), although I realize that's subjective

Second, I realize the hook of the show has become like "Look at these two guys suck at video games while they make dick and fart jokes" and that's cool, except when it's just Arin failing miserably at the game and griping about it it gets old.

One thing that's been missing from the show for a while is passion, and I think Jon took that with him. Jon wasn't a very skilled gamer on the show either but he'd get super excited whenever they'd play a game he really enjoyed and he'd have a lot of interesting things to say about the game itself. I don't think Arin has anywhere near that earnest, fanboyish passion even for games he does like, and if he does he puts it into his Sequelitis videos rather than Game Grumps. Danny is a really interesting guy with a lot of cool stories, but I don't think he fills that gap very well because his taste in gaming doesn't usually line up with what they play (which is more mainstreamy console stuff, usually Nintendo).

There are moments in the Mario 64 run where it picks itself back up but these 100 coin runs have been really tough to slog through.

Arin is a victim of his own success.

Even on the crappiest video, they still earn 6 figure views on videos and rarely any thumbs down.

Everyone critiques his videos not being entertaining, and yet they still watch the whole series and stay subscribed.

Hah. It's true. I'm over 50 episodes in, dammit. I want to see how it resolves.

They said they recorded 7 more episodes of Bloodborne after they came back right before they started up Super Mario 64 again. It's just a matter of how they choose to space it out and upload them now.

I still want to see him play Resident Evil. We even got REmake HD now. 2 episodes and quitting what is one of his "favorites" was pretty shit.

Buttstomps give more coins on other enemies too, its not just goombas. Back in the day I went through each star collecting all the coins possible and certain star missions have more coins as well. Most levels have far more than 100 coins.

For me the biggest issue is arin doesn't seem to understand Mario's move set. He's always brute forcing his way through things then complains about the game. Entertaining but frustrating.

Looking forward to between worlds but I hope Danny hasn't played through the game before recording like Zelda 2. A little practice is fine but i like it when they go in not knowing everything. Surprised they're adding ninja Brian to the show without a test run.

I just hope he keeps going with it 100%.

I loved how he completely forgot how to somersault backwards jump up to the clifftop in the tiny version of the island. Which he had been doing with no trouble just the previous episode. But since they were gone for 3 weeks (?) and so tired out he forgot it was a thing. It was so hilarious to me.

I like when Arin is completely inept at the game. Especially if it's a game I like. It means he'll take longer. As long as he doesn't give up. I also like when they do extended episodes. You just know they're having trouble when that happens.

I'm sad though that they haven't gone back to StarTropics for no reason. They weren't even having that much trouble. They literally opened up the path just before they gave up. They hadn't even seen half the good stuff yet.

Please go back to it! It's a childhood favorite. They need to be more like Jared, The Finishist.
