I wouldn't count on it. I had the same issues with another yearly game (made by Konami) for a whole generation. They always took out and ignored basic stuff. Always complained, yet still always bought it. And of course, nothing changed. Until one day I realized I'm part of the problem and let go. It's very simple, as long as they're getting the money, there's no reason to change. They see it as "it's working" and that's all that counts to them.

I'm passing. This is the first time I'm making a conscious choice to too.
There's allot of little things that bother me but the breaking point for me, personally, is the cut dex count.
All this extra shit is just... vindication? Entertaining vindication? A little bit. There's definitely some disappointment mixed in there.
This Pokemon outrage is one of the dumbest cases of video game outrage when it comes to being outraged about a kid's toy.
I'm not getting Sword or Shield right away, have Jedi Fallen Order to play through, but when I do I don't give a flying fuck if the old Pokemon are in it or not. Hell, isn't the purpose of new Pokemon games to be FUCKING NEW?

It's easy to be snarky for the sake of snark as you snarkily dismiss legit criticisms against the new Pokemon games.
A franchise whose audience is actually mostly 18+ isn't what I would consider labeling Pokemon as a "kid's toy".
Isn't that question more of an indictment against Sword and Shield. The game is using 3DS models and the animations are pure lazy-work. How are these aspects new in any way?
And considering that Game Freak said that they'll be no National Dex because they are working hard at improving the Pokemon models and animations, no wonder why there has been outrage.
When I played Moon and Ultra Moon I wasn't running around trying to find Pokemon from 20 years ago. I'm more interested in the new ones. Same thing with Sword/Shield.
I don't give a fuck if they're "lazy". Can I play a full fledged Pokemon RPG on my Switch, and thus on my TV? Yes? Ok then that's good enough.
And to add, calling any developer "lazy" is a huge insult completely ignorant of the stress people go through in game development especially with a game like this with a set holiday release date.

I can call them lazy whenever I want. It's not an insult when it is true. No updated models nor animations in spite of work being cut down and having access to more powerful hardware. That is the very definition of lazy.

If the fans want new things, which it sounds like this game lacks, why are they so upset that old pokemon aren't in it? Shouldn't they be mad that the amount of new Pokemon isnt vastly higher?

Simple. Because the trade off was high quality graphics and animations. They even said to remade all the models from scratch. End up being a lie, nothing but the same models from previous games. People suck their dicks(including gaming journalists and serebii), spreading that claim to defend them. But now out of sudden, its no big deal.
You could say the dex was the trigger to people open their eyes of how much trash of developers GF are.

I'm only like an hour in and I've never played a Pokemon game before. I kinda like some of the art direction and it has that comfy feeling.
However, if I didn't know this was a big franchise and you plunked it down in front of me, this first hour would leave me with the impression that I was playing a budget title.

If they delivered all they have promised, why would people be pissed?
The very reason for their trash graphics would be solved. The excessive number of pokemons were holding them back to deliver the best they could do.
But again, this is just the tip of the iceberg. The "dex" controversy was just the trigger, there a lot of glaring issues that needs to be solved yet.
Or maybe people are just too soft with GF because "muh developerz". Any other company, every other developer does not receive the same treatment.
Gamefreak doesn't need help. Their blind fans are the ones who needs. Who wouldn't take opportunity of farming tons of money lying to their consumers? I'm pretty sure its the dream of any company.
The reality is that developers for games like Death Stranding, Gears of Wars and others have to fight for their lives, giving ultra realistic visuals and taking heavy shit for it. While GF doens't need none of that.

I am fine with someone disliking a game. I am fine with someone having valid complaints (which this game does have). However, it is people like Saberyoko and Mad Draklor that I can never take seriously in this discussion. Eh....... I disagree with this, the GB games are very comparable graphically to other top GB games. The DS games had some excellent sprites plus they used 3D backgrounds which very few games actually tried doing 3D graphics on the og DS outside of N64 ports.
XY and Sun/Moon despite some technical issues in the battles do have some of the best overworld 3D graphics on the 3DS.
I would agree that the GBA pokemon games look a little weaker comparative to other GBA games and are probably the weakest graphics wise to the other handheld Poke games.

On the Gameboy, we had Shantae, Faceball 2000, Chikyuu Kaihou Gun Zas, Warlocked, Project S-11, Donkey Kong Land, and Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare. GBA we had Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Golden Sun, etc. DS had games like Radiant Historia. 3DS had games like Ever Oasis and Yokai Watch (which I would argue blow Pokemon X/Y and Sun/Moon out of the water in terms of graphics), Gamecube had games like Resident Evil Remake. Nintendo 64 had games like Zelda and Perfect Dark. Every last platform a pokemon game has released on, the graphics were no where near what the system could produce.

Oh boy, so I was tipped off that I should check out the IGN Nintendo Voice Chat episode about this whole thing. Are you guys ready for a cringe factory? The juicy stuff starts at around the 30 minute mark.
I have to say it's kind of sad to see how bad NVC has become. It's funny how self aware it used to be vs now - the name of the podcast itself was a diss on Nintendo from Matt and Bozon saying they're naming the podcast Nintendo Voice Chat because Nintendo didn't have voice chat for the Wii for online gaming so they don't need the name anyway.
I completely stopped listening when the dude that does it now became the host, and to be honest, it hasn't been good since the end of the Craigway.
Anyway, these folks are completely off base. At one point, one of the hosts criticizes people that call out the game for trusting data miners and says it's basically how bad things happen in the world. It's so silly.

It's not really personal (other than all the people calling me a shill over my well explained opinion of the game's great, unique and very vertical world design that resembles a Pokemon take on the Xenoblade series' visually interesting world design before, lol) but I thought calling any devs lazy was frowned upon here? No? I just ask to know for future reference since I reported a post and was told it's been "resolved" but I see no change. If it's fine by the rules then I got no reason to report, I don't particularly care anyway as it's not an argument one can actually discuss, just a lazy (ha!) insult.

Challenge their opinions. If they can't provide anything beyond internet adages to describe certain developers or practices, then that's on them presenting a weak and ironically lazy argument.

So I am one of the people that were hoping a lot of things were going to improve since the reveal. Placeholder and all that.
Given everything I've read and seen so far, I'm not angry but I am disappointed. Will be a low priority on my wishlist - The successor may well be out by the time I'd get to it, resulting in a skip.
