http://revolution.advancedmn.com/article.php?artid=6558And, yep, Red Steel looks and sounds absolutely awesome. Well be writing a more in-depth preview of the shooter in the coming weeks, as new information is expected to be released later this month. Even cooler, you can look forward to the first video of Red Steel to hit the net within the coming weeks. Its possible well see some other Revolution games officially unveiled around this time too, as thats when a certain NDA that has most publications lips sealed ends.
Word on the street is that the screenshots in Game Informers May issue are actually slightly touched-up (this is done quite often with print), so Red Steel doesnt look quite as clean as it does in those screenshots. That noted, in motion, it still looks very solid, from what Ive been told.

AMN is contradicting Matt's blog:

He also comments on the graphics:
Meh. I'm sure the game will look good in motion.
I think it's random.Beezy said:Is it....true? >_>

in one particular pic i've seen a character looks pasted in. whereas most people in the shots at least have a crappy circle shadow, the one I'm referring to has no shadow at all. he really does look like he was pasted in.
seriously... look again. when you see it, it is glaringly obvious.radioheadrule83 said:I disagree scrow. The scans don't look like anything remarkable or unusual to me (in terms of graphics).
uh, yeah. which further supports the case that some if not all of those pics for Red Steel are manufactured, since the practice of doing so is the norm in articles like these. how exactly are you disagreeing then?radioheadrule83 said:Its not like anybody else does frame buffer grabs in these kind of articles. Fuck remember Amped?
so do i. i expect for them to at least include character shadows being cast on static environment... and if I'm feeling optimistic maybe even self-shadowing. i'm not holding my breath on that one though.OG_Original Gamer said:I expect the game to look better than whats in the mag, shit, there's 6 months of development time left.

now people don't start that whole the 360 alpha dev kit's just 1/10 the power of the final dev kit.MadraptorMan said:Guys, I just heard from an inside source that Red Steel is only using 24% of the Rev's total power. OMG :O

EDIT: I better uh, say this is a joke...just in case. So, yeah. The inside source = my fictional character, Suppertime Family Story Man.
...quadriplegicjon said:the characters have real shadows.. its just hard to tell in the scans cause they are highly compressed.

whatever man.

Haha, love the little flash game segment.ant1532 said:
i've seen extremely clear shots. the closest thing to a character's shadow is a lame circle below them and other times nothing at all.quadriplegicjon said:have you seen the actual magazine. or are you just looking at the scans? you're going to look the fool when other people get it.
mckmas8808 said:So what about the possible ports to PS3 and Xbox 360? Does anybody want to get those?

Does anyone here write for AMN?
Where is this touched up shit coming from? Have they SEEN the scans?
I think I'll take the word of the Colonel. I'll maybe listen to Twilight Rockstar a bit too and see what happens there.
sorryaboutdresden said:I work there, I'll ask Phillip where he heard this from next time I talk to him. I haven't seen the actual article yet so can't really tell if they were touched up at all.

Anyway, just to clarify, as I've had a few people ask me to do so here, I don't recall contradicting Matt's blog on IGN. I am not sure where people came up with the idea that I did.
There will be video of Red Steel pretty soon, as in before E3. That said, there actually wont be any more information on it -- that I know of. It turns out that information that I was told about was nothing more than a press release by Ubisoft, which happened yesterday. Nothing amazing, I know. But it happens.
Theres an NDA out there for Ubisofts Red Steel. I dont believe any other games will be shown before E3. That could change as things do change in this industry, believe it or not but I doubt it will. Dont quote me, though.
As for my comments about those screens being touched-up, I dont know whether Game Informer did it or Ubisoft, but the game looks noticeably different in motion.

The 16+ PEGI rating for Europe looks like it is. Or we get a different version, like GTA VC for example. No blood here as well (can't speak for the rest of Europe). I wouldn't mind a little blood. But better no blood than no game. That's also the reason why all this talk about blood fountains and cut-off limbs/heads made me a bit nervous.Marlowe said:And this "no blood" rumor saddens me -- I hope it's not true...
Yes but where does bacon fit into this equation?Rahul said:http://web.media.mit.edu/~kimiko/iobrush/images/iobrush_collection.jpg

the lighting is the best thing about the screenshots...Yamauchi said:I hope they'll improve the graphics over the next 7 (?) months. Needs better lighting at this point.
sorryaboutdresden said:We have to remember that the final development kits have yet to be issued. From what I've heard recently, it looks slightly worse in motion than it did in the screens. Nothing drastic, just a tad different.
