Games That Did Not Deserve To Be Forgotten

Field Commander (PSP)

Great handheld turn-based strategy. Definitely inspired by Advance Wars, but enhanced by 3D. Ground, Sea, and Air units can occupy the same space. Both live online competitive matches and "play by email" async play. This game was the total package.

There is no other game like Deception, plain and simple, and this was the start of the series at its best.

Though I suppose we're lucky the series made it to four games.

And Samurai Western was amazing.

Hexplore - PC (1998)
Excellent game with dodgy voxel graphics that I'm pretty sure no-one could possibly remember. Has a theme I still remember 14 years later - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4KjMqOqLlg

Sentinel Returns - PC,PS1 (1998)
Surreal and baffling game that I got really good at after a while.

Also had good theme - by John Carpenter of all people - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTntaBSRdeg

If you don't know what this game is about then maybe this will clear things up - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bK9DKB5PvKE&feature=related&t=0m54s

No, I remember Hexplore too. Always reminded me of an evolved version of Gauntlet.

I also recall playing the original version of The Sentinel on an Amstrad back in the 1980's. It's still one of the tensest gaming experiences that I can remember, despite running at about 5 fps.

Ever played Rising Zan?

Risiiiiiing Zaaaaan, Samurai Gunmaaaan
Risiiiiiing Zaaaaan, Johnny noooooo moooooree!

Just watched most of the video. What in the fuck is this game?!

I think I remember seeing an advert for it in PSM. Brb, finishing up my articles just so I can play this game all day.

Thought I'd enter the thread and post some of my own. Instead I see 4 pages worth of games I've pretty much never heard of bar a few exceptions.

I now feel depressed for calling myself a gamer...

Aerobiz and Aerobiz Supersonic. Two of my favorite games of my youth that I've been dying to play a new version of for nearly 20 years. Thank you Nimblebit and Pocket Planes for scratching that itch.

...and still expensive as all hell.
I somehow lost my copy over the years. Made me sad when I saw how much it ended up being worth. :(

The original vision for Warhawk on PS3, which I bought the damn system in anticipation for, before it was completely neutered and lost its SP mode and I lost all desire to play it.

Motherfucking WeaponLord.

Complex gameplay systems that were ahead of their time, great characters and art style, custom fatality combos... All hamstrung by an unfortunate release date and the technical limitations of the SNES and Genesis.

I would absolutely KILL for hi-res 2D followup to this game.

This This this... When Koei.. WHEN... instead of realseing a new game in the series i'm forced to port it my self to various consoles (via EMU)....

Also would like to nominate Uncharted Waters

(I need to check out Nimblbit and Pocket Panes it seems)

May have been mentioned before, but I feel like a game that doesn't get nearly enough credit is Battlezone (1998 edition):

It was an combination action and RTS game with a crazy conspiracy filled Cold War story where the United States and the Soviets are battling secretly on the Moon with hovertanks. I really enjoyed the gameplay and campaign in both it and in its sequel which brought in crazy alien things. My favorite part about the sequel was that the campaign ended with a choice where you could either destroy the aliens or join them and do a mini campaign on their side.
