Games That Did Not Deserve To Be Forgotten

Turtles In Time

Big Apple, 3AM. Still the best Turtles game.

Contra III: Alien Wars
To me, this is Contra at its best.
These are hardly forgotten games

Hexplore - PC (1998)
Excellent game with dodgy voxel graphics that I'm pretty sure no-one could possibly remember. Has a theme I still remember 14 years later - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4KjMqOqLlg

Dude you are amazing. As soon as I saw your big HEXPLORE picture I instantly remembered that game that I haven't played for 14 years and went straight to youtube to try to listen to a certain theme that I remembered being fucking amazing, like the one you hear as soon as you start controlling your character. Now I see that the theme was already linked in your post XD

Man, thanks for that nice nostalgia moment.

Jack in the Dark, a mini Alone in the Dark game. Used EMS memory if i remember correctly so i had to make a custom config.sys and autoexec.bat to get this sucker to run. still pretty cool teeny tiny game.

actually, config.sys and autoexec.bat were a lot more fun to mess around with then some of the games they afforded play time to.

The Fool's Errand.

This is probably my pick for the most severe forgotten game. i remember the late-80s/early-90s and this game was talked about often. You could hardly escape it if you were a computer gamer. Now though? i shudder to think of how many times "fools errand" comes up on Search.

Another vote for:

So good. The third one was so, so, so fucking bad. Christ, I can only imagine how good this would be on current consoles....

Very underrated game. Ok, the story is cheesy but the universe is surprisingly interesting.

I remember the game looking very impressive for its time.

My entries

Scary as hell to play as a young kid, but I finished it with my dad.

One of the best management style games that nobodies ever heard of.

Not forgotten by gamers, forgotten by EA. Why? It was so brilliant.

Forgotten by Rockstar. It's still the best GTA IMO due to the mechanics it has. After GTA2 they started forcing a story mode into the game that ruined the series' playability for me. I don't want to have to do some terrible missions, I just want to muck around with gangs, a wide variety of areas and weapons while doing crazy stuff to get money.

I know your post is a few weeks old so perhaps you won't see this but if you're not aware The Fool's Errand is available to download for free from the creator's site: http://www.thefoolandhismoney.com/01-the-fools-errand/index.htm

I happened across this a few years back and got really hooked to it to the point that I got fairly close to completing it. I don't remember exactly how it went now but I believe you had to fill in a map and then look for clues on how it was arranged or something? I got to something like that where I would have had to really dig deep after solving all the individual puzzles and moved on.

Regardless, excellent puzzle game. Glad someone else knows of it.

Edit: Here's the article that I read when GameSetWatch.com used to be updated: http://www.gamesetwatch.com/2007/10/column_beyond_tetris_the_fools.php

And skimming that reminded me that I did complete putting the map in order but it was recovering the fourteen treasures that finally had me move on. Tempted to redownload and give it another shot.

It was really cute and the song was super catchy, but it was soooo bugged and felt unfinished. It felt like you were constantly fighting against the physics, and sometimes the eggs just went through the rails and you lost.

I really wanted to like the game (and I liked the characters and general design) but the gameplay was akin to what the sonic team did in sonic adventure 2 on DC : a buggy mess.

Patrician III. I love this game. I spent so many hours selling, buying and producing goods across Europe....such an amazing game.

Has anybody said NO ONE LIVES FOREVER yet? Because NO ONE LIVES FOREVER.

Because fuck all the generic FPS on this world if they can thrive while classics such as NO ONE LIVES FOREVER gets buried.

Definetly going with this.
One hell of a game that's just way overlooked.

Came here to say this. Also the first game on pc. Liked it much more than Tomb Raider, especially for the more direct controls and the combat mechanics. The music in the first game was really good too!

I might have missed it if it was already posted but this game was so so good:

It's a shame that it never got these sequels :(

And since Mischief Makers was already mentioned I will add:

Sure the game had it's flaws but damn it made FPS games so fun and unique again, nothing is better than to disable your suit, drifting behind enemy lines and deliver a surprise :D I was really sad to see the community vanished pretty fast :( We should get some GAF matches going!

Smuggler's Run. So much fun, and it looked fantastic

Kid Dracula. Hopefully this makes it on the 3DS' vc one day. It was a great, great game

Parasol Stars, for sure.

Everyone remembers and loves Bubble Bobble. Some people remember and love its sequel, Rainbow Islands (including me, obviously!). Both have had recent (poor man's) versions made of them.

Parasol Stars? Continually forgotten. Left in the nineties. Tragic, as it is easily the best of the trilogy.

War has never been so much fun! Little known fact: there is a Cannon Fodder 3...
