Games where you play as an old man (not MGS4)

How old is old?
 
Just a question: is Killer 7 even available for purchase? Is it playable in any way and is someone planning to buy it real soon to worry about the spoilers for that?

Just wondering cause a lot of people here got a bit pissed at Slick/Rick.
 
I was confused at the Killer 7 spoiler anger as well. I knew that shit before I even bought the damn thing as it revealed during the hype and...on the back of the fucking box.
 
Isaac Clarke from Dead Space?
Not exactly an old man, but he's in his early or mid 40s something that you don't see very often in a game's protagonist

The protagonist from cancelled Dreamcast horror title Agartha was an older man.

Doctor Hawkins from MDK2 was pretty old, too.

If we're counting middle-aged characters, pretty sure Dogs from Blue Stinger was in his 40s.

His name really is "The Skull", and he's 241. I didn't count him in since he's technically dead, but since you can choose him as a driver, I'd say that he is the oldest one of the bunch, at least in that game.

Considering that there are some posts about characters that are around his age and I already mentioned him, I think that this is old enough. Most Videogame characters are rather under 30.
 
I was going to say, I was pretty sure that was the entire premise of Killer 7, and I only ever got halfway through it. People are funny.
 
Galuf from FFV, Tellah from FFIV and Auron from FFX come to mind.

Jiraya in Naruto games, Roshi in DBZ games.

Torneko from DQIV and Daibouken is kind of an old guy I think.

I'm sure the Suikoden series has a buttload too with 108 characters in each game.

How old is Henry Hatsworth supposed to be? He could count.
 
for a more depressing thread, let's discuss games that feature major female characters older than age 40, not including those who are magically immortal or similar. Off the top of my head, I can think of Wynne and Kreia
 
The killer7 spoiler is actually false. In fact, it's the premise of the game and starting point of the story that you play as the ,,mind'' of an old man.
 
People are saying 40 years old is an old man? Wut.

Ezio is 55 years old in Revelations.
 
The only game where I play as an old man (except MGS4) is Super Street Figher IV: Arcade Edition v.2012

Gouken's so old, people thought he was dead.
 
One of Dustforce's playable characters is an old man with a vacuum.

Then there's Duane from Kingdoms under Fire: Circle of Doom.

There's also Tellah and FuSoYa from Final Fantasy 4, Strago from FF6, so, old men-typed wizards. Generally there are quite a few games in which the "old wizard" stereotype holds true for playable characters.
Oh yeah, and I also would've mentioned Silver Neelsen and Gilius.

He might have a high age, however, he is physically young since he still is undead.

Nevertheless, the Castlevania series does have an old man you can play: Julius Belmont. At the events of Aria/Dawn of Sorrow he is over 50.
 
I always thought Dr. Edward Roivas was older, since firing his own elephant gun caused him to fall on his back. You'd think, if he couldn't handle the gun, he wouldn't own it, right? Unless he USED to be able to handle it?
 
In Valkyria Chronicles 3, Gloria Durrell is 63; though in typical JRPG style, despite being just past middle age she looks and acts even older.

There are a few 60+ people in the first VC as well - - Coby Caird, I think -- and VC3 has a couple of others. In general the "Nameless" squad has a wide range of ages.
 
There's one I want to say that hasn't been mentioned but it's a spoiler. If I say the game, people may be pissed, so I'll just leave it under tags and people will have to try their luck I guess. It is almost 5 years old though.

Oh, and rather than it being an "old man", this character turns out to be of indeterminate age, but his position in the game world implies he's been at it for a long ass time. Some people interpret it as "forever", but I wouldn't go that far- at least enough years to make him an old-ass man though.
