Games you can play while doing something else

None, if a game isn't good enough or leaves enough room for some other entertainment than its not worth playing. Plenty of other more engaging more entertaining games to play.

Anything fun, not competitive, and doesn't have good sound or music is easily enjoyable while doing other things. These days I've been doing this with dicking around in csgo and grinding in RPGs.

Pokemon is great for this, especially when training or breeding.

I would definitely say this, there are few games you can eat full dinner simultaneously and still have it unaffect your gameplay. I think because the maps are built to use 4 directions unlike other rpgs. (Still works fine on moder Pokemon too imo.)

Also Heathstone but I for sure play worse while watching something. While eating I still play at my best though!

I've been watching Hulu/Netflix while playing games now. Don't have enough time usually to do both separately.

Haven't had any problems yet whether the game is competitive or not. Mostly have been playing Street Fighter V online or Monster Hunter Generations while trying to finish up Dexter and Breaking Bad.

Turn-based games like Civ are probably the most friendly to play while watching something else.

Lately I've been playing Parkitect as my relaxation/podcast game. It's a ton of fun and scratches my RollerCoaster Tycoon itch!

Turn-based games or really any game that doesn't require constant input, attention, etc. I listen to podcasts and watch shows while playing 3DS and Vita RPGs. Listening to podcasts while resource collecting in No Man's Sky makes me feel like I brought my audio show with me into space.

Culdcept Revolt is a great game to play while watching movies.

I play Monster Hunter on 3DS while listening to/slightly watching trash crime dramas like Criminal Minds or Bones.

I use to be able to play MH whilst listening to stuff. Anything other than gathering and mining or low rank stuff gets me carted too often these days.

The only other thing I do while playing some games is catch up podcasts, and for that these are my favorites:

Diablo 3
Warframe
Alienation
Driving games of all kinds: DriveClub, Forza Motorsport, Forza Horizon, etc. even GTA V

I can't do podcasts with No Man's Sky because the ambient music is such a huge part of it for me. And I don't usually multitask when playing multiplayer because I don't want to be distracted while in a team. So all of the above are ones I play in solo modes.

The BEST games of these types are ones that I can easily space out and play at a casual pace AND dig fully into with no distractions, depending on my mood.

Turn based strategy is great fot his. Civ games, XCOM games, Wasteland, Divintiy - that sort of stuff. Many a time have i sat down to eat dinner and play one of those while eating. Can't do that with too many games.

As for listening to other things then game audio, it has to be something somewhat mindless like Diablo 3, Marvel Heroes or Warframe. That sort of stuff. Grindy kind of games, where some decent background music ease the grind a little. Stuff like Souls with great ambient sound and great boss fight music and most other games with a narrative to follow, will be game audio all the way

Well runescape was one game i used to play while playing something else. But i guess most MMOs grinding can fill the spot.

Earth defense force games on easy/normal are great too.

No mans sky. I can do something else while I pulse jump for a minute or 2 to the next planet or I can turn my thrusters down and take 10 or more. The frequent crashes are a good time to go pee or check GAF. You can also walk to an outpost thats 5 min away in one hand and do something else with the other.

Podcasts/music/TV (playing on handheld) while grinding in an RPG, or any game for that matter where you are not progressing plot or require audio.

I remember years ago I would be playing a game on one console with the video inputs in, but have my XBox's audio in so I could listen to the music I copied to its HDD.

That's not a selling point to me. Suggests that the game is boring or to simple.

It's more like it suggests the game isn't heavily story/dialogue driven or there is a lot of exploration.

Civ V, Warframe, FIFA, GTA, Fallout, Far Cry and Assassin's Creed are all games where I can enjoy Spotify or a show being on in the background. I could sit there and play and enjoy them while focusing entirely on them, but at the same time they don't require you to be 100% focused on their audio (though games like Fallout do have moments where audio matters).

Just look at Rocket League. It's far from boring but it's a game many people play and have something going on in the background.

i have played a ton of fire emblem while watching various netflix shows, usually more comedic, less engaging shows work best (or i just end up barely playing the game).

went through all of archer when i started playing FE fates. was a good weekend.

Hearthstone, fuck yeah. Generally play that while I'm browsing the net, posting on forums (like right now, lol), or even watching anime sometimes. Hell, reading comics and manga too.

Oh, lunch and dinner as well.

Pokemon GO while reading A Song of Ice and Fire books.

Sports and racing games are awesome to play while listening podcasts or music. My list is:

Pro Evolution Soccer
Forza
Pokemon TCG Online
Terraria

I can play Smash Brothers while listening to conversations/TV/etc.

I guess it's the same for any game without text or speach communication.

There's plenty of games like this on the mobile market but I do have a hard time finding similar good games on PC. TBS may seem like a good choice but I think the best games like these are ones where the game doesn't stop just because you've stopped actively engaging with it but also doesn't punish you (too severely) for doing so. So I guess sim games with some automation features would be the best for this type of play.

I generally try to focus on games I play.

But I have to admit I spent an embarassing amount of time playing Assassin's Creed 1 finding all the flags and listening to Presidents of the United States of America. I think AC/open world games are great for this if you're just cleaning up the collectibles.

I do this for almost any game I'm doing replays of. Right now I'm going for the remake platinum

The remake of what?

D'ohoh

I do long hauls in Elite Dangerous in VR and put Netflix in the cockpit.
