• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

Games you've spent/will spend 200+ hours on...

this generation:
forza 5 and titanfall
and I'm having a moment of clarity here, thinking that master chief collection will be a great time shrine, and hopefully -if the gods align all the cards correctly- the new horizon game will be meaty enough too.

older generations:
too old to remember ;pP

Uncharted 2 : Among Thieves 776 Hours - Multiplayer Only
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception 209 Hours - Multiplayer Only
Call of Duty Zombies (BO I,II) 300+ Hours
Borderlands 2 (PS Vita, PS3) Must be close...

I'm sure the next installment of Zombies and Uncharted 4 will reach those hours.

Have:
  • GTASA, but across multiple versions/releases.
  • Skyrim
  • Fallout 3 was close, but not 200
  • Counter-Strike. My most played game, no idea what the hour total is because I put the most hours into it in the pre-Steam world when that shit wasn't available and my Psychostats is long gone. I've probably put over thousand hours into it. For several years I played that game every day for at least 2 hours a day, and often times as much as 7 or 8 hours a day.
  • Team Fortress Classic. Same as CS above.
  • One of the NCAA Football games. But not sure which one. Maybe NCAA 2005. NCAA '12 was close as well... Played 9 seasons with a friend, and if you figure, 9 seasons * 14 games in each season, at about an hour for each game, and then you add the recruiting on top of that, it probably hit about 175.

And I have no idea about anything before PS2 era. I mean, I'm sure through my life I've put hundreds of hours into Sonic 2, Mario 3, Goldeneye, but I can't really nail it down.

Games coming out? Probably none. GTAV will be close-ish. 40 hours for the main story and extras, a solid 30 hours into GTA:O on 360... so I'll easily break 100 with the nextgen release cumulatively, but I dunno if I'll approach 200 hours.

That I have spent more than 200 hours on

  • FTL
  • Rogue Legacy [speciifcally on Vita]
  • Baldur's Gate 1
  • Baldur's Gate 2
  • Fallout 1
  • Fallout 2
  • Dice Wars probably
  • Minecraft
  • GTA III
  • GTA Vice City
  • Pokemon Red, Blue, Yellow [How did I forget these? 0_0]
  • Many more I can't remember

That I will spend more than 200 hours on

  • Fallout 4 if it's any good

Here are my top Steam games that are at or above 200 hours:

NX5FXOC.jpg

BLR Doesn't really count since that is time in the editor rather than time played (probably played ~2hours since the Steam launch)

I know Skyrim comes to mind.. I easily logged well over 200 hours on that game. I honestly can't think of any others that I have played that much but Destiny will definitely be another one.

Well over 400 hours in skyrim since I dont fast travel, am always over encumbered and do every quest that is in my path.

I have 497 tomatoes in my inventory right now :)

Battlefield 2
Left 4 Dead
Left 4 Dead 2

I can't see myself dropping that kind of time into a game again. Left 4 Dead 3 is the one game that might break me, though.

Skyrim
Borderlands (raided the crap out of crawermax)

Sadly that's about it for me. I'm generally not the type to attach to games for long periods of time.

Have Spent 200+ hours on:
Halo 3
Maybe Reach
BFBC2
Various Pokemon
Smash Melee
Ocarina of Time
WoW
Fallout 3

Will spend 200+ hours on:
Smash 3DS/WiiU

Fallout 3 and New Vegas
Borderlands, Borderlands 2
Battlefield 3 and 4
International Superstar Soccer/Winning Eleven/Pro Evo Soccer yearly title up until 2006
FIFA from 2007 to 2013
Forza 2

Honestly I tend to swap games too often to ever spend more than 60 hours on one game. The only three I've reached greater than 200 would have to be:

Pokemon Gold
Pokemon Ruby
Minecraft

Don't really expect to see another game I'd spend 200 hours on anytime soon.

Well probably every Total War game since Medieval so that's Medieval, Rome, Medieval 2, Empire, Shogun 2, and while I haven't reached it for Rome 2 yet it is very likely. Lets see there is also Crusader Kings 2, Morrowind, Mount and Blade, Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines, and Fallout New Vegas for sure. You could probably toss in Final Fantasy 7 and Darklands in there as well now that I think about it.

Oh yeah and the is Football Manager 2014 which is kind of weird since I am American I knew jack shit about soccer when I bought it on a lark. That is all i can think of off the top of my head.

The only single games I've spent over 200 hours on are:

Dota 2
~300 hours

Last Chaos
(random 2008 asian MMOPRG where you basically just grind 24/7; used to play from 2008 - 2011/2012)
over 2000 hours easily, maybe even 3000 hours

Currently, I've spent 200+ hours in:

Counter-Strike
Diablo
Diablo 3
World of WarCraft
Plants vs. Zombies
Borderlands
Borderlands 2
Oblivion
Skyrim
WarCraft II
StarCraft II
Star Wars Galaxies
Halo

Guessing:
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
WarCraft III
GTA III
GTA IV

Will for a fact:
Destiny

An awful lot... I'm a completionnist

Even if you put the limit at 500h, I'm probably close to two dozen (all numbered Disgaeas, probably several others RPG, a couple of Animal Crossing, XWing Alliance, Rollercoaster Tycoon, OpenTTD, Tetris ^_^... and that's only the ones I'm sure, for most, without a time counter, I'm lost...)

Over the years (more than 30 of VG, now), I may be close to one hundred games over 200h (3 each year seems doable enough)

At the same time, I'm only playing 10-12 games a year, though. But I'm often REALLY playing them to death.

Crysis 1 Multiplayer.

Those were the days... Big maps with vehicle play.
Actually Battlefield with a nanosuit.
Sadly Crysis 2 and 3 went for a COD approach (silly tiny maps with perks).

Man this is a tough one!

According to Steam I've over 200 hours on Skyrim and TF2. Steady route to hitting 200+ on FFXIV and CSGO. Xfire adds a side dish of 200+ on World of Warcraft, Oblivion and APB: Reloaded.

On consoles I know for a fact I did over 300 hours on Peace Walker, because you can check your time played, though I've lost that save now, RIP. What else.. Halo 3, Reach, Gears of War 2, 3, Judgement, Metal Gear Solid 3, Modern Warfare 2.

And I also plan to hit 200 or more on ACU (if there's enough replayability there) and definitely MGSV!

Definitely a couple more games I forgot, such as (just remembered!) Battlefield 2 and Warcraft 3.

Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Can't wait to put another 200+ hours into unlocking and getting really good at BoI: Rebirth.
Yup. That's exactly what I came to post. This will suck my life out.

And maybe DW8 if you count vanilla + DW8XL on top of that. But I'm not exactly proud of it.

off the top of my head

CS 1.6
CSS
AoE 1
AoE 2
Starcraft 1
Starcraft 2
Tetris
Fifa 99
Fifa 2000
Fifa 2001
pretty much every iteration of PES from 2000-2010
League of Legends

As for game I could spend more than 200 hours on, pretty much any strategy games really. I love them and will keep buying but i have to refrain myself form playing them because i will lose too much time.

Counter Strike Source and 1.6 is by far the games I have played most (and much more than 200 hours).

But it's nothing compared to my old clan mates who still plays.

Call of Duty 2 is easily my most played game of all time (1700+). I've spent 200+ in multiple FIFA and Football Manager games and I plan to do the same again this year. I've done the same with many NHL games over the years, but I don't plan on picking up 15 this year.

cs (the half life mod) probably over 2000 hours
dota 2 : 2300+ hours
bf1942: probably about 1000 hours if not more
dragon's dogma: close enough, maybe 150-180 hours
diablo 3: maybe 300 hours
ns2
world of tanks: 10.000 games so probably about 1500-2500 hours
rtcw: can't remember but easily over 200 hours
ut99:probably 200-300 hours on lan and at home
quake 3 : similar to ut
war thunder : just about 200 hours

I may have 200 hours on halo 1, played through the campaign in coop countless times with friends, solo campaign once on each difficulty level after normal and a few days of multiplayer in the pc version
Spent less than 20 hours in all the halo games combined after it

Next game I'll spend several 100 hours playing will be dirty bomb once it'd released

My list is real small; back when I had less money than time I could devote myself to a single game for months/years (and my taste for online shooters was still there).

Quake 3 - this is just a guess, but it was my first PC FPS experience, and I was playing CTF every single day if I had the time. It probably cracked 200.

Counter-Strike 1.5/1.6 - I played this near daily for something like 6 years. In the thousands of hours, I'm sure.

WOW - I was lonely and living in an unfamiliar state. Dunno my actual played time but I was grinding fishing achievements.

BF: BC2 - Browning rifle + C4 kept my interest in this game long past the time I would normally stop playing. Raptr has me at 280 hours and I know I put in at least another 100 before the tracking started.

The only game at this point that may crack that number again is probably XCOM :EU. I'm at 100 hours now with 2 playthroughs and I want to play it again with different Second Wave options and focusing on different engineering priorities (still haven't fielded a SHIV). Marvel Heroes is at 100 hours but I don't see myself doubling that, ever.

For me, I think this honour belongs exclusively to Blizzard's games.

WoW, Hearthstone, WC3.

I've probably also spent 200+ on FFVI, VII, X and Chrono Trigger over multiple replays. Possibly FFXI also.

And for WoW, it's over 8000 hours. Yes, eight thousand since 2005.

I know.

Lol

And while I don't think any one Pokemon game got me for 200+, the series assuredly has. Probably 500+ altogether.
