She looks to be in her late 20s, early 30s.
I admit, that's some great work.
Haha stupid me. I skipped over the name.

Which seems perfect for 90% of GAF.Gearbox further cementing its reputation for being a company for immature people.
What an idiotic, narrow-minded thing to say. Far more juvenile than the art style he is criticizing.
There's a fucking gun in Borderlands 2 that vibrates that is given to you by Moxxi. The insinuation is the she masturbates with it. That's more offensive than a weather balloon breasted witch.
It's sad because Kotaku has created such a shitstorm that even legitimate discussion is going to create eye rolls and opposition next time.
For what it's worth I think her female TF2 models are much better than any of the female characters in that gallery and are an example of female characters she'd like to see in games. They're of a variety of body shapes, not just perfect sex dolls and along witjh their faces/attire they project a lot of character.

We're now judging a person on a decision made by someone else in the studio now? :/

It's to be expected in a thread with the title "Gearbox artist" - even if she's an environmental artist and not a character artist, even if she's not responsible for any of the bad examples posted here, or is getting criticised for shit Pitchford's said. We're now judging a person on a decision made by someone else in the studio now? :/
I know all that, I still don't think it's meant to be a parody or a caricature, though. Parodies and caricatures imply criticism and subversion for me, which - I think - is not the intent here.It obviously takes a lot of inspiration from fantasy fiction and history in general. Read the link SmokyDave posted. It may not be a parody, but definitely a homage to the genre of fantasy.
Sorceresses being sexy is nothing new. They are often portrayed as femme fatales, so an alluring figure ties in with that concept. Seriously, google "sorceress" and they're all half-naked girls. It is a well-known trope.

It is actually, i think the artist clearly said it...
People should realize a lot of Japanese games are pretty sarcastic... Bayonetta people ??
Artist being a woman should be in the OP, not that it contributes to her argument.

edit: Who says "fucking lol" any ways?
Honestly, enough about this particular game already. I mean, it's wild that this one is getting so much press (and probabably a lot higher sales as a result), where as others games with scantly clad girls are flying under the radar.
Now, the only real outstanding question for this game is : ps3 or vita? I'm edging vita now, but ps3 woudl be better for couch coop...
There was no reason to bring this artist's comments a greater audience, was there? Why should we particularly care what she has to say about the subject? Why is it something to start another acrimonious debate on Dragon's Crown over? People aren't required to like the art. I think she's off base, but she can say whatever she wants. Why did we need to amplify her voice?
I think that's the intent, absolutely.I think that was bad wording on my behalf. Perhaps an exaggerated homage then?
I also don't see how people' opinion of the quality of her artwork has anything to do with the issues raised.

I don't think it's meant as a caricature or commentary at all, no. You're not being naive, you're giving Vanillaware too much credit.
It's weird how the sorceress is causing such a controversy now, and not when she was first revealed what... a year ago?
Not her work.I'm glad this is on the first page.
Fucking lol indeed.
That's actually something that made its way into a basically finished video game, fucking lol!
