The source material is pretty explicit and unambiguous about the Major's sexuality.

I am pretty optimistic about this, I know Snow White and the Huntsman overall wasn't such a great movie, but I was pretty surprised by how great it looked. Most of the issues came down to the story, and a wooden performance from the Kristen Stewart. This movies already looks gorgeous, and has a pretty good story to draw from, so as long as the actors turn in a good performance I think this will be great.

I have some nitpicks that make me cautious about the film. I'm willing to let this stand as it's own this, but scenes that directly callback to the original don't help to make its case.



But that opening sequence makes me hype. The fact that they're using the original score is even better.

The most fantastic part of this is that they didn't went full CGI and managed to film it physically.

We can shit all over this project, but I feel that theres a lot of caring and love on the source material. I'm happy that hey are trying.

No doubt, but Netflix will be paying attention to their data of Death Note views on their platform as well as Ghost In the Shell's box office, and I suspect they're notice the interest and demand will be pretty high for them to continue making these adaptations. I don't think it'll affect their funding original anime as that's much cheaper.
