Ghostbusters Trailer 2

Great special effects, but still doesn't look very funny.

I loved Bridesmaids but hated Spy... And this feels like it's trying too hard to go for those forced laughs from Spy.

Feels like they gave away the entire plot and 80% of their action scenes with those two trailers. Oh, and for the OT...

It should be like old Facebook, only have a like button and no dislike

The Internet is doing to melt down if this gets a decent critical consensus.

Bridesmaids: 90% RT
Spy: 94%

There's some lower ones too of course, The Heat has a 65% but so far critics mostly seem to be on board with his stuff. That's not to say it's guaranteed for Ghostbusters, but he's a pretty good director and I don't think it getting good reviews is out of the question. However, it's also a franchise name with an established history while his other stuff has mostly been original, so that, as well as how many critics are on the hatewagon themselves, could be taken into consideration.

The thing I will say about what I've seen so far, while not every joke lands and there's some scenes I straight up dislike, I like that the movie seems to mostly have a good head on its shoulders; it doesn't look cynical or mean-spirited and could end up being a lot of fun.

Not me. I'll be fine with having a decent comedy that I'm sure will become a franchise again
I like Paul Feig and hope this turns out good.

The first Ghostbusters is great, but I don't like the second film or the video game.

It'd be nice to see this pay off.

Did not laugh once, the jokes were eye roll worthy. It's not so much of who is saying the lines (although I think all four are average in the laughs department... give me Tina Fey and laughs will ensue! - it's all in the delivery), but the script seems very very very average.

To top it off the cgi looked extremely fake.

If they wanted a paranormal movie, create something new don't just tack on the Ghostbusters name and assume people will love it.

I like Spy and even though I have no connection to Ghostbusters one way of another I am incline to give it a chance based on the fact that Spy was awesome, I just really wish Hollywood would stop remaking shit, originality can't be this hard.

That was a good trailer.

The whole dislike situation is bloody embarrassing.

I personally (I know I will be in the minority for this) can't understand how one can say this looks awful and turn around and say the original ghostbusters were great/fun/funny etc. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug

Yeah, I don't remember Ghostbuster being that funny of a film. The ghosts were interesting but I was never that fond of the characters let alone the humor.

I don't understand why so many people are offended by this remake either. There's been so many remakes of my favorite films. If it's good then that's great, if not there's always the original.

Next gem: "Star Wars 7 was for progressive idiots. You don't need to add shit to a formula that works!"

I'm not quite sure what formula he was talking about. An all-white, all-male cast?

.... probably.

If it's good then that's great, if not there's always the original.

If it makes money, people will say it is the brand name. As well as call people sheep.

If it bombs, people will say "it's because of women".

It's dry sarcasm. Ghostbusters isn't laugh your ass off funny, it's just sort of organically amusing. I think some parts are pretty hilarious, Rick Moranis is hysterical in every scene he's in especially when he's possessed, and there's a lot of great, memorable snicker-at-it lines.

One of the best moments is when they're in the elevator, and they turn on Ray's proton pack, and the noise makes Egon and Venkman try to back away from it in that tightly-confined space. It's funny, but again you don't like laugh hysterically at it. It's not trying to do that. It's more subtle humor.

This doesn't look like it has a lot of subtle humor, but that's hard to judge based on trailers, and even if it doesn't I don't ask that this movie be the same thing, just good in its own right.

I take it you didnt see Sisters...

i found that movie far more funnier than these trailers tbh.

don't like the cheap CG look of the ghosts here. it looked retro in the old movies but i think an aesthetic like that ages far better than this.

ridiculous amount of dislikes though haha good lord. you know people were clicking on that before they even watched it.

The vitriol this movie is generating is inexplicable to me. I've seen so, so much worse.

This.

I loved the original. I loved the soundtrack. I even loved the cartoon. But it wasn't the holy grail of comedies, people need to lighten up.

And the hate because it's all female cast is pretty transparent.

It seems like they're attempting to match the tone of the original, so I'm okay with it. This doesn't irk me as much as this, for instance:

Now this is just straight disrespectful.

Much, much better than the last trailer. Still not my type of humor. Ignored the like/dislikes and especially the comments.

Whenever i think of the first one I think of that scene at the fountain where Venkman is like kind of hopping on one foot and doing that little dance forward thing. I try to imitate that as often as humanly possible. The movie is funny without trying. Part of the reason it's such a classic imo. Helps to have Murray and Aykroyd and Ramis.

New trailer looks aight i suppose. Glad they ditched the dubstep for at least a minute.

Still does nothing for me at all.

The jokes/humour fell flat, imho.

Smells of reboot/remake for the sake of reboot/remake. Which hardly ever goes well.

looks like it will be fun. Ghostbusters is not some sacred idol that cannot be discussed for me like some other weirdos on the internet so i'm ok with this.

It suffers from the same thing most remakes suffer from

Not original
Not charming like the original
And nostalgia is compromised with the modern setting

I also hate how they have to update the theme..
Yes this trailer actually has the original but it seems the updated theme will be prevalent and they should never have created a new theme

Instead of trying to hitch a ride to an old bandwagon they should have created their own unique thing - don't call it Ghostbusters, use a new name, logo, film setting. Don't use the same catch cries (who ya gonna call?) AND most important of all create an all new theme.

The smartest thing Man of Steel did was attempt to establish it's own identity by not using the classic Superman march. Granted that remake/imagining also failed to hit the mark, but at least they didn't rely on the past like this crap reboot is attempting to do.

Also what's with the slapstick humor ?
Ghostbusters was never about cheap laughs, the laughs in the original movie and GB 2 were not in your face slapstick, but rather clever subtle humor.

Nearly all the comments on YouTube are full of guys that are—dare I say—triggered by the race thing or woman thing joke. The hate is so transparently obvious where it's coming from. 24k dislikes in less than day is not coming from a reasonable place.

Better than the first trailer. In the same vain as saying chipping a tooth is a lot "better" than losing one.

Feels like this will be the Pixels of 2016.

Spy was awesome. but this looks like crap. Not because they are women.

It's completely depressing that people need to clarify this in fear of being called out lol

That's the whole problem of this shit show. It's embarrassing. People can simply think the trailers are bad without it being because of this, but it is the case for some people, so everyone assumes that if you don't like it, that's why. I'm hopeful for the movie, but I thought the first trailer was terrible and I like the idea of them being women.

This. Just saw Ghostbusters 1 recently on TV again and Bill Murray is so damn good in this film. Some of his lines are so spot on it's a complete different tone than what we see here in the trailers of the remake. Like as if you would compare Groundhog Day with You don't mess with the Zohan or some shit.
