Gizmodo: "Most people have poor taste". 5m Galaxy note users CAN be wrong.

I honestly can see how it looks ridiculous. But I don't care anyway, is awesome for reading PDFs yet it fit on my pocket just fine (yet, it does). All I wanted from my phone. The extras aren't bad either.

You know what really do looks ridiculous? All those people using iPads as cameras.

At this point in things, people using actual cameras are the odd looking people. ;)

I use mine in bed all the time. Right now for example. Comics and PDFs are what I do most on my tablet. 7" is subpar for most everything one does with a screen on a tablet.

3.5 is fine. If they increased the screen to take up the face of the 4S, I'd be fine with it. I don't type on my phone, so you may have a point there. I only do quick browsing so again its fine, especially with such an amazing UI. Games are perfect as they are normally formatted to utilize the space. Since most are Universal, the ones that use the tablet space better I play there. And they would be lessened on a smaller tablet.

All opinions, but saying a 7" screen is better in design and usability is pretty difficult to debate.

Like I said earlier, as a tablet the Note looks fine, especially with the cool stylus support. As a phone, that's where it breaks down for me.
Ok, we just expect different things for our devices. That's fine.

My point in usability and design may be because of not liking iPad screen ratio, and being harder to carry around...

I honestly wish it was a little bigger.
So... Can we agree people can feel the same for phones?
I would like smaller tablets, and bigger phones. Note is probably the soft spot for me. I don't make that much calls anyway.

I don't think anyone is disputing that people want/need/like different things.

I like larger tablets and smaller phones. To each his own.

I would love a Note if I carry a murse with me all the time, but I don't. Even the Galaxy S2 with a 4.5" screen in my pocket makes me uncomfortable at times.

Stay classy gizmodo.

On that note wtf happened to gizmodo and engadget? They used to be great but now they are just shit. Gizmodo is basically apple PR and engadget is just shit now.

Most of the good Engadget writers left for The Verge. And Gizmodo is far from being Apple PR, they have been constantly begging people not to buy Apple products ever since they got blacklisted over the stolen iPhone 4. From a quick Google search (there's far more):

HEY EVERYBODY: QUICK DONÂ’T BUY AN IPAD (Feb 8, 2010)
Why I WonÂ’t Buy an iPad (And Think You ShouldnÂ’t, Either) (Apr 2, 2010)
DonÂ’t Buy the Verizon iPhone 4 (Jan 10, 2011)
Do Not Buy an iPad (Feb 1, 2011)
The First Free iPhone Is a F*cking Rip Off (Oct 4, 2011)
iPhone 4S: I Am Disappoint (Oct 4, 2011)
Unedited: The New iPad Seems Like a Pass (Mar 16, 2012)

Quite sad really.

The Note isn't my thing, but if people bought, use, and enjoy it it's fucking petty to be calling them out. It's not like the Note being a success is going to mean every phone is going to be like that. Thankfully the mobile industry is diverse enough that people can enjoy more than one kind of phone.

I wonder if everybody but galaxy note owners have small pockets. It fits perfectly on my pocket and you don't hear any of the owners complain about the phone not fitting in their pockets. Yet all the non users are complaining about not fitting in their pocket. Something is surely wrong here. Did we accidentally buy all of our pants with size L pocket?

The Neogaf web app proves that phones don't need to get bigger, the websites just need to be more fitted to the small screens. Neogaf looks right at 4 inches, not at 27inchs on a iMac where it's all just grey everywhere.

Also, I hate that the Guardian phone app is so shit. Give me a proper front page with all the normal front page articles, not just 4 news articles, and then a load of sport or whatever the fuck. Also, where da fuck are the comments below the line? That's what makes the Guardian.co.uk what it is.

lol@Gizmodo being 'apple PR'.

Gizmodo isn't anything but shitty. For everyone.

Ha ha ha, this is a prime example of why I don't give that shit site clicks. How the fuck this gets posted on a place that considers itself a reputable source of technology information is beyond me. What a fucking joke.

Well I will say that is has been a few years since I've read Giz. I guess they are still salty over the whole iPhone 4 mess. Before that happened they used to worship at the altar of Jobs at a almost embarrassing level.

Well never visited their site and I probably won't ever with this endorsement.

Being that much smaller for same cost is worse than any looks.

... Wut

Gizmodo still exists?

I don't think the Note looks that bad used as a phone. It's way too big to be practical for me though as I rarely have a bag.

For me the Note hits that sweet spot between smartphone and Tablet.

I use my iPhone 4 ALOT for browsing while on the go. And The bottom line (for me) is that browsing on a small screen sucks if done constantly and over extended periods of time. My iPad gets used extensively at home but is impractical for carting about. When I bought my Playbook I noticed how much more portable it was But I still needed my phone .... It brought me to the realization what I really want is a super portable tablet that can also take calls. Which is kind of what the note is.

Unfortunately for me I'm not due a hardware upgrade until August but the Note has really opened my eyes to what I want in a smartphone.

Question for android users ... Ive never had an android phone. Where do you buy the apps from? Does android have a store similar to apple?

Why doesn't gizmodo go get arrested or get confused for crashing ferraris instead of trying to tell consumers that we shouldn't have choice and diversity in the marketplace?

We 6'6"+ people exist bro, get over it.

The new version has all that.

Cool, just went on the mockup. I don't see User CP though?

Display wise it's quite superior.

Well, I have no beef with the aspects you think are most important to you and what you think you can afford to lose out on. Everyone has different requirements.

Google Play, formerly known as Android Market. Apps, Books, Music, and Movie rentals all exist on the app. Also, you can sideload the Amazon App Store.

What hyperbole? How many people carry cameras now? By definition they are the oddballs now. C'mon now. Hyperbole?

People who are serious about photography of course. Phones may have replaced the Point and Shoot for casual shooting but the higher end cameras still have their place.

Call me when any smartphone can give you the ability (the ability to take neutral density gradient filters and others) and the fidelity to capture a photo like this...

I agree about your other point about "the best camera is the one you have one you". Its been a godsend for professionals and casuals alike. But, with the advent of mirrorless cameras, I'm of the type that would carry both my smartphone and smaller high end camera because I want the flexibility the higher end camera provides.

For some reason, he loves it. I wish he didn't. Because he and the 4,999,999 other Galaxy Note buyers are making the world worse for the rest of us. All of you need to to stop, before it's too late.

All smartphone users make the world worse.

That article. Wow, insulting. I'm so glad I unsubscribe to Gizmodo a long time ago.

The Verge is quickly becoming my most favorite Gadget Site.
