Nothing?

Sooo.. I guess the axe will be the only real weapon in the game. Maybe they're holding back on other reveals, but it seems that way.

Gotta love all of those enemies standing around doing nothing, lol.

Yeah, noticed that. In fact, it's the only thing I didn't like about the trailer.

Hopefully they will be more challenging in the final game, even if I don't enjoy overly difficult games.

Much like Logan wouldn't really work without the rest of the series informing Logan's character and his relationship with Charles and the contrast between those X-Men superheroics in the past with the bleak world now, based on what we've seen, I don't think this story with Kratos would work without those past games. The contrast between Kratos then and Kratos now, and the lasting effect of all the shit you did in those past games, is what makes the story incredibly fascinating here for me

Saying it's just a new IP with Kratos is like missing everything else they're doing here; hell, this just might be the first GoW since the first to actually have a decent story. People might forget, but the first game was actually quite praised for its effective storytelling and how it built up Kratos as a tragic figure. It wasn't just kill, kill, rage
First God of War has one of the effective flash back story telling in video games. I still genuinely like story in that game.

I'm worried kratos has become safe as moist dudes. I like the heartless bad guy kratos that just plows through every obstacle without any moral dilemmas getting in the way.

Have you played the previous God of Wars? I don't imagine for a second it will be any type of "easy" - unless there is a difficulty selection and you select it.

No way this game isn't a 9.5+/10 GOAT. I hope the kid's AI is good.

I dont like babysitting npc's.

And father/son hook doesnt really do anything for me.

Eh, you're not really baby sitting him like you babysit the president's daughter in RE4 or something. There's a dedicated button for his character to combo with him.

I think the trailer showed he'll still kill the shit out of you, without hesitation, if you get in his way, he just no longer has a Zues to direct it all at.

Hopefully the enemies are just standing there because it's on easy or something. God of War was really frustrating on higher difficulties.

No doubt it is incredibly beautiful, but I'm kind of done with the series and the character. Maybe I'll pick it up in a sale and play it with some friends.

I am sure on higher difficulty enemies will take out half your life bar with a single swing, just the it should be. If you are really good at combs and juggling enemies then play previous games on high difficulty, they are a lot of fun.

Oh and standing around is nothing new for GoW enemies. Depending on which type of enemy it is, they will sometimes stand for couple of seconds and then attack. They will attack all at once and you can defend or roll out away from them.

I'm more against the change in Kratos' character than anything else tbh.

I will love this game and it will be one of my all-time favourites, but I will miss angry kill everything with a pulse Kratos.

All things must come to an end, eventually. And it's not like we didn't have that "AREEEESSSS" Kratos for a while. We have 6 GOW games with that Kratos that we can revisit anytime.

I have great memories and will also miss the "kill first; speak later" attitude, but I'm even more excited to get to know the "new" Kratos.

the first god of war was called Sony's Zelda. It was a grand adventure, with balanced puzzles and leveling, in addition to the great combat.

God of War should become Sony's Zelda, in that it's always Kratos, but it's gameplay and art style changes with every game and they don't release them that often to try new gameplay ideas with every title.

This is super refreshing after 4 action-based games. They were true iterative things off of what Jaffe created, and while they did take graphics and set pieces to a new level, it was certainly time for a change.

Not too keen on that box art, but glad to see it will be launching early next year, as expected. Q1 2018 is looking insane; just like this year was.

Who was that guy talking shit about the 2016 demo being a big fabrication and that it wouldn't launch until much later in the year?

IMO it's not hard to believe that was on a standard PS4. Look at Horizon, Uncharted etc. SSM is just as good technically as the best of them.

This game looking as good as it does on OG PS4 is amazing.

According to Cory, this was running on standard PS4....

Sony's first parties are absolutely killing it this generation. Even smaller teams like Sucker Punch and Bend create titles with notably outstanding visuals. But what the heavy hitters like ND, SSM, and GG come up with is truly mindblowing.

Exactly the reason why the first GoW is my favorite of the series. The story was fantastic and it was a standalone.

Like three posts above yours is a sweet gif of him bashing people with a shield.

I imagine there will be other weapons, and they may actually remain secret until the game launches. Unlike the other sequels, this is rewriting the formula a lot, and that alone is what differentiates it from its predecessors. They don't need to show new exciting weapons for it to be seen as a worthy sequel, and I think that gives them the opportunity to keep those weapons hidden for players to discover on their own.

And I have no reason to believe there aren't any new weapons.

Man, the combat looks really cool. A lot of people were worried about the over-the-shoulder viewpoint and simple combat from last year's demo; I wonder if this has quelled concerns at all.

I like that they're evolving the character. We had six games of angry brainless Kratos, and now he's having a character arc and a redemption. I welcome this as I was really damn bored of him by the end.
