I love how you can work this in a combo, in one scene he is bashing enemies with a shield, then his fists I believe and once he has them staggered he calls his axe and continues the combo, the animations look slick as hell in this game and much more fluid

The boy, Atreus, likely speaks Old Norse and is thus able to speak with the world serpent, Jormungand, while Kratos can't because he speaks Ancient Greek/English. I'm guessing Kratos has either taught the boy and his new wife Ancient Greek and we're just hearing their dialog in English.

Carson has voice acted in god of war, samurai jack, star wars, and even justice league. he's got plenty of range and i'm sure if they wanted to go in another direction with Kratos, he could've delivered a more mature/evolved voice role given the chance

He has beef with the Norse Gods too right. So aligning himself with Kratos is a means to an end. Maybe he'll attempt to kill him after his goal has been accomplished.

Why are people so surprised with the visuals on OG PS4? OG PS4 is a fantastic console and fyi this game is made by a studio with a reputation of pushing console hardware to it's limits. Please go back and watch God of War1 and 2 on PS2, God of War3 and Ascension on PS3 and then tell me why what we are seeing in God of War PS4 is not possible on OG PS4

Even to this day the opening poseidon battle of God of War3 looks like a first gen PS4 title!

May be in classic god of war fashion, the boy will be taken away, so you are stripped of some abilities and for the next few sections will have to work with the serpent to navigate further or solve puzzles using the serpent's unique abilities.

It is probably because of motion capture and they probably improvise during dialogues to some extent so it actually feels like genuine interactions.
