GT5 News - Nurburgring update (pre-E3 edition)

Kaz Yamauchi is VP of SCE? That's news to me.

Guess it explains the free pass PD's gotten re: delays. :lol
I think he was promoted in 2004 so that's old news at this point.

http://eu.gran-turismo.com/gb/dev_info/

The real question is whether he still holds that position now.

Yamauchi is the president of Polyphony but is also a senior vice president of SCEI

Kazunori Yamauchi, president of Polyphony Digital, has been promoted to corporate executive at Sony Computer Entertainment.

Hopefully Kaz brings an updated build of GT5 to that event. Usually when he appears at an event a new build is shown.

"It's gone Gold!"
In Japanese of course

I expect no less.

Because they're trying to push Modnation Racers. :/ If they want to push that game then pack in a new GT5 demo.

they are apparently always trying to push some other game... time for them to push this one ;-)

Modnation is the last Sony developed PS3 game that actually has a release date. So a lot of things have got to change come E3.

I'm expecting big GT5 news to be leaked before E3, thus spoiling Sony's E3 again :P

We are talking about Kaz and PD, even if they spilled the beans on GT5 it would be mistranslated and result in the same old info that has everyone confused already.

Fixed.

Sony's PSP2 gets leaked a week before E3. Kaz decides to cancel GT5 blowout again in favor of announcing GT PSP2 out of nowhere, causing Feast of the Gods Screwjob II and GAF meltdown in the process :lol

With Sony Move being the center theme of the show this year and a possible PSP2, GT5 looks to be pushed aside again =/

Another E3 trailer for us to drool and speculate for 20 pages here we come :(

This new interview of kaz confirms standard car will have no interior view.............

Ya, saw that on GTPlanet a little while ago, I think someone mistranslated it. The Official PlayStation Magazines article on GT5 in February stated that all cars would have modeled cockpits. I know that this is the issue that later retracted their Indy car announcement, but they didn't retract anything else.

Can you explain more about the difference between premium and standard cars in the new GT5?

Standard models won't have an interior view, less detailing and no crash model. The problem is that premium models take a lot of time to create and we wanted to include many more vehicles than before. To make premium versions of all the cars we want to put in would take ten years or more and I don't think people are prepared to wait long!

GT5 tentative launch date in 2020, confirmed! \o/

Oh god, oh god, oh god!

I'm having fits right now.

So there IS a cockpit view for driving/racing but you're unable to see through the windows to see the dash and driver during replays and gameplay from the chase cam?

Uhmm cockpit...

Just to point out again as was done many months ago when this discussion about interior views happened the first time. All cars but that one concept has an interior cockpit view in prologue, I highly doubt many of those cars would be considered "premium" therefore, all cars get a cockpit view and this was just another instance where Kaz was translated wrong.

While I appreciate everything you guys find, I'd rather not beat my head against anything and just wait for it to finally come out. At this point, I'll just enjoy the game as I know I will when it eventually releases.

lol @ you guys throwing a fit. So in GT5:P, Atenzas, Coopers, Integras "Insert slow FF car you didn't even bother to buy here" etc all have modeled interiors. You think those cars will be considered "premium" cars in GT5? :lol

Does no crash model = no crash or standard crash as opposed to customised crash model specific to that car model?
My brain has been twisted into a pretzel.

But no crash model= paint scraps and loose hinges, but no dents, and still having engine damage.

Cool. I gues they are making 1000 cars (which is about 2.5X the amount of cars in the next largest curent gen simulator) at the end of the day so must be kind of a bitch.

This...

Use your brains people...

Pity about the bit of news on Autoblog today as I'm a huge fan of GT5P's cockpit view details. Hope it's a mistranslation.

Do we know how many standard cars vs. premium cars?

Whenever you post here, I try to find subliminal messages in your posts! :lol

Oh and from the looks of it; Cockpit view is there, but interior view is not for some/most cars.

Oh and CONAN!!!!!!!! :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

Actually, GT PSP did not have a career mode. So you could argue that it is inferior to GT4 Mobile which was announced in 2005. :lol :lol

(unless they did not announce a career mode for GT4 mobile)

Last time they split them up was in August '09, in a spec list that was taken down as suddenly as it was put up. 1000 cars, of which 170 premium.
Before that, GTHD (Nov '06) would have had 830, of which 60 premium.

Since September '09 however, they've stopped mentioning the premium and kept the number at "950 cars".
