GTAV - What game are all these people playing?

Sorry....but I think you just aren't that good at driving yet. It IS improved and very responsive. You need to be more gentle on the sticks.

It's not the game, its the player...

True i love how responsive it is in other games where i am flying and saving was much harder due to handling in here i can save a flat land easily even flying in the air after getting rammed by a big rig

I didn't like GTA4's car handling at all. GTA5's is so much better. You actually feel in control, and not like the car is a land boat that you have to master while still being very unpredictable if it rolls over a pebble. Also the character control is much better than GTA4's.

GTA5 has the nice position of having lowered expectations due to GTA4. If I had a lead in, I'd want it to be GTA4 too. A ton of other open world games stomped all over it in fun and playability.

GTA5's map isn't as impressive as I wanted it to be. It would have been nice if there was at least Las Vanturas in there. The only reason to cross the wilderness areas is to get to your own airbase or something small. I didn't even do Trevor's missions out there because it's so far out of the way with too few activities due to it's deserted features. Now if Las Venturas was on the other side traveling by the wilderness stuff would be more frequent.

As Franklin you can slow down time and shoot while driving. Also, for attacking people in cars, instead of trying to shoot the driver. I find it a lot easier to just shoot the tires so they spin out and get out of the car. Getting those headshots is really satisfying though.

You still can't aim before shooting even with Franklin using his ability. That's the main issue. it's feels sloppy and awkward, just like a lot of the controls in this game.

One opportunity Rockstar missed out on is raising the middle on the big rigs cargo cab. OMG if there was enough room to drive underneath one in a supercar.

A little trick I use is quickly tapping the LB to have the reticle appear before firing a shot. Tapping will just have the character pull up the gun without firing. If it is fully pressed down they fire.

1. car handling isn't that hard
2. you can change crosshairs
3. what game are YOU playing?

I think some people overestimate their ability to drive. My buddy kept saying how bad the car handling is. He saw me playing a few days later in which I'm going full speed mid-day through the highway in heavy traffic in an Adder and how exciting it is and was wondering what I was doing that he wasn't. I told him he needs to practice and get a feel for the car that he's driving and what it's capabilities are as they are all different. He's since stopped blaming the game.

Aiming you can change the reticule, so not too sure about your complaint there.

It's not the GOTG, but it's top 6 easily.

Yeah GTA V feels like a ten year old game in a lot of ways. The mechanics are really bad and not much changed from IV. They really need to just copy the shooting and driving from Saint's Row. And the camera. My god the camera sucks.

And finally why is the god damn text so DAMN small. Most games text if readable but in this I can't see shit. It's like the developers only played the game on their work monitors and didn't notice the aiming or the text. And I dont even sit far from my TV.

I'm glad you brought up the text size. It's just awful. I can't read a thing.

Sounds like you just need glasses, and some basic motor skills.

I haven't had a single mechanical issue with the game. I could see the story not being everyone's cup of tea, but you are definitely in the minority that thinks there is anything wrong with the way the game handles.

Maybe he isn't sitting three feet away from a 50 inch screen. Developers need to realize that not everyone has perfect vision and a huge TV. They need make text size adustable.

Yes the very small dot is annoying and I wast lots of ammo because I can not see it half the time.
Yes the font is waaaaay to small.

But its still a fantastic game.

Don't know what to say, I had subtitles on the whole time and never had a problem with the font size for any part of the game. In the OTs there's debate over driving (too loose, not loose enough, etc), how broken the online is, the pacing of the narrative and so one, but I haven't seen anyone complain about the text size. Just wonder if there's an issue with the settings or something.

subtitles are ok, I guess no one tries to read texts and emails on their mobiles then :P

I find that hard to believe.
I've played a lot of games where text size was a common complaint and never had a problem, but in gtav, can't see shit captain.

TBH I didn't think text size was a problem in GTA V.
In GTA 4 it was a pain in the ass though.

I do like the game and it is clearly superior to GTA4 in almost every way but the game does have some core issues. The missions are really fucking dull and feel like retreads of missions from earlier GTA games, the enemy A.I. ranges from braindead to psychic with sniper accuracy, the walking controls are stupid and poorly designed, driving is better but chases are ruined by cars randomly turning into your path at almost every junction at the last minute, the framerate ranges from poor to sub 10fps on certain seafaring sections, the dialogue sometimes sounds like it was written by a 14 year old stoner manchild and Michael is a very boring character. Even still, the fact that I can like the game despite these issues is pretty telling.

ITT: people who still don't undertand viewing distance.

I miss the super arcadey car controls that GTA 3 through San Andreas had, but it's way better than IV.

I don't use the handbrake for anything but 180 degree turns at least. Slow down a tiny bit or just keep your foot off the gas and you can make pretty much any turn.

Didn't have a problem with that either, the font size for that isn't smaller than the subtitles (when you go to phone and read the texts or emails). I do agree with what someone else mentioned though, more games need to make the font size adjustable. I'm used to reading small font on my iPhone so I might just have adjusted to it.

I have problems aiming, the dot is small indeed. And i needed a few tries to land a plane. But that´s about it. Driving is a breeze and i have no issues with the tekstsize or anything. Loving the game.

Why does everyone suck at driving and shooting in GTA? I'm especially baffled by the shooting complaints. That shit hasn't been tough to control since Vice City.

2. The missions were just as bland as they could possibly get. They all devolve into "drive to X kill Y escape Z," or "drive to X chase Y pick up and deliver Z," or "kill X drive to Y kill Z," and so on and so forth. I feel like a glorified delivery man rather than any kind of mobster or criminal.

Now with this, I must've been playing a different GTAV. In the first three hours I played there was a bank robbery, a race, a small scale shootout, towed some cars, played from the perspective of an animal, had a highway chase, and then an even bigger shootout.

I mean I felt a little like a deliverman for that time period, because Franklin repossesses cars and delivers them as his job when you start.

I think this is where "skill" and being good at the game kicks in. The driving is so good, feels like a Need for Speed game.

All of this stuff you listed is voided if you are average at the game. Same thing could be said about different games.

I'm not gonna sit here and say the combat or driving is shit in another game, if I am just not up to par.

Also, the detail and the world they created literally is untouchable by so many games out there. This is hands down the game of the generation for me.

It is a great game and the detail of the world is amazing, but it is not perfect. Now that the dust has settled and the honeymoon is over, I would give it a 9. I am also reverting back to The Last of Us for my GOTY. It was just far more memorable for me.

Op show us some pics of you're tv setup etc

Rough guess:

The main problem for me is having to drive long ass ride for an objective that râles 5 minutes to complete.

I havnt found any collectible but one page.. yep the world is empty. The ''mountains'' are a joke. I don't feel in the wilderness at all ahah.

Killing is too easy.

Hanging out with buddies is boring and useless.

I don't know why I bought that game actually. There's nothing addicting about this game and everything you do outside the scenario is pointless. I'm probably too used to level grinding games.

Can't tell if this is a troll post or not ... you do know taxis exist, right? And I've found that in GTA V, the journey is almost always worth it ... random events, etc.

The driving in the game is brilliant. Probably the best in any open world game out there. I'm having no problem getting around town, and it's fun.

Nah, it doesn't hold a candle in that regard to Sleeping Dogs. Not to mention the godawful shooting out the window whereas it's flawless in Sleeping Dogs.

Can you describe how it's "godawful"? I assume people with these complaints are upset they can't use auto-aim? I'm not sure how people expect driving a car at high speeds and shooting at the same time to be easy ...

I kinda agree on the shooting. it's pretty bad. the lock on system is just silly so I don't use that but the free aim is def hard to see to aim.

Don't agree with the driving though. The cars handle very well but you have to get used to it.

Shooting needs to be a little harder to handle while driving. Sleeping Dogs doesn't have multiplayer. You know how annoying GTA Online would be if people could just drive past people going 80 mph and lighting them up easily.

Like I said before, people finding shooting enemies in vehicles so hard, just aim for the four big tires instead.

I had most of the same gripes as you, OP. The game is in dire need of an overhaul. Shooting mechanics are horrible. I got used to the driving, eventually, but it definitely took a lot of play time.

I enjoyed the game, but the frustration with the archaic controls really hurts it overall.

I hated GTA IV with a passion. IMHO it wasn't fun and nothing more than the previous games with better graphics. I didn't even like the story nor did I think it deserved all the praise it got. Again, just my opinion on it and I know I'm in the small minority.

I fucking love GTA V tho. Glad I decided to buy into the hype. Totally paid off this time.

Although I do dislike the plane and helicopter controls.
