GTAV - What game are all these people playing?

I don't have the same complaints as the OP. I guess I don't understand. Cars handle fine, pixel dot aiming has been no issue for me, and I certainly don't have any issues reading the text.

First of they still haven't fixed the god damn car handling in this game. Hell the first mission with the red/white cars its like impossible to turn less than 90 degrees. Some of the other slower / crappier cars handle a bit better but not much its a total mess. I thought this was supposed to be fixed finally? Makes it impossible to go fast and not crash into every god damn thing making the missions just a pain.

Get better, the driving is much improved from GTA4. Also driving skill raises the more you drive/faster you go.

Then there is the shooting, so they added free aim but its pretty much useless because there cross hair is a 1px white dot. I need frickin binoculars just to see it so most of the time I am blindly shooting hoping im getting closer until i see it turn red or a dude get hit. Basically spraying and praying. So then you can use the assisted / classic aim which is a bit better because it just locks on but I still cannot see the god damn reticle. Its so infuriating.

You can change it to get a bigger xhair, do you even look at options?

And finally why is the god damn text so DAMN small. Most games text if readable but in this I can't see shit. It's like the developers only played the game on their work monitors and didn't notice the aiming or the text. And I dont even sit far from my TV.

I have no idea what you're talking about. Text isn't small on my 42" plasma.

All the other stuff has been pretty decent, feels like GTA:SA and the game has an amazing soundtrack.

the soundtrack is like the worst thing about the game, lol

great thread, OP.

great thread, OP.

It's not small on my 16" screen either LOL
Also, GTA online is the worst thing about the game IMO.

Glad you felt special enough to start your own thread.

You try looking in settings and switching to complex reticule? As for text size, maybe you should get your eyes checked? Text size was fine for me, I've played on a 32 inch and a 47 inch.

OP car handling and gun aiming improve as you improve the stat on your character. Also get an HDTV its 20 fucking 13.

Game of the generation! Nahhh. Game of the year? Contender. Best GTA ever? Probably. The game will never wow anybody with its gameplay but the world is just phenomenal. The detail is insane, nothing has ever come close to this. Really impressive stuff.

Can't tell if this is a troll post or not ... you do know taxis exist, right? And I've found that in GTA V, the journey is almost always worth it ... random events, etc.

What I wrote is quite true!

Yeah I know pretty much all the mechanics in the game. What you do while in taxi? Pick your nose or what? Random events..like being the taxi for someone giving you 50$ for wasting 10 minutes.

As I said, because you cutted my post, i love the main scenario. But anything around it is half assed. Hunting is a joke, off road racing is easy and not exciting, walking with a dog, lifting car to point a to b...

Bah i know gta always been that way, it's my own fault if I bought it.

There's hard work in this game and it clearly shows but it fails 50% of the time to entertain me.

God my english is terrible! Sorry :-)

It's my game of the gen. took over red dead.

Yeah played it army brother in laws on Wednesday night and they haven't fixed any of the control issues from 4.

Your character is still running in molasses wearing cement shoes and the shooting is barely different.

I think the driving is actually worse now.

It sounds like you've played about the first 30 minutes OP.

Get back to us when you've actually put some time into the game.

Or not... I don't care.

Driving is great. Shooting is great.

Mission design is fantastic.

The open world is the best around.

I must be playing the same game as those reviewers luckily.

The game is overrated considering no game can live up to the praise this game is getting. Once I finish the main story, I will probably unplug my 360 for good. I feel like I'm just playing GTA IV in a new setting. All of the activities are mini game gimmicks. All of the driving and shooting have been in the past GTA's. You can't interact with 95% of the buildings because they are just blocks with pictures of an inside of a store on them. It's been pretty fun the majority of the time, but I just can't see it grabbing my attention for too much longer.

You can choose to quick travel ... so, not really a valid complaint. You can make money easily, so not sure what money has to do with anything. Also, like I'm sure others do, I usually check stocks while in the taxi or use it as an opportunity for a bathroom/food break.

To each his own, just thought complaints that weren't really based in reality came off as trolling ...

So you want the driving to be EVEN EASIER???

wtf. They toned it down enough already. GTA4 was more difficult but also more rewarding when mastered. Gunplay is great and as many have said, just change to complex aiming.

Well deserved thread backfire. If you want to complain about stuff, why not pick something legitimate like the framerate.

Everything relating to game mechanics is really poor. Movement, shooting and driving are all functional at best, fucking awful at their worst. Just like prior GTA games, GTAV is fun despite itself. There's really no justification for gunplay. No matter which setting you use, it's pretty shit, and the saddest thing is that the game is balanced for lock-on, so free aim rather than giving you extra precision gives you extra frustration. It's so not a perfect game, and it's a bit frustrating to see all these glowing reviews and impressions ignore all its faults. But it's still really fun with some creative although linear and scripted missions, enjoyable characters and funny dialogue.

Rockstar just doesn't care about the basic shit of video games.

Kinda mad I bought it digitally. I'm gonna finish the story, but I have no interest in 100%'ing it or playing online. Wish I bought it on disc so I could trade it in once I'm done.

Yep. Realised this after 4. Which is why I've skipped 5.

They're so busy worrying about "the world", they forgot they were making a videogame.

For driving, lowering the suspension in the shop improves handling & different cars can vary wildly in handling.

The upgrades definitely make a difference. And when I started playing I was disappointed at how quiet and wimpy the engine sounds were. After a while I realized upgrading the engine make them sound nice and beefy.

Sounds like your tv is too small or you're sat miles away from your screen. And possibly you're either shit at this game or you've played 25 minutes of GTA V and dismissed it.

As mentioned a million times above x hair is an easy fix.

Car handling ive found to be quite excellent, key word here is found, that starting mission is a learning curve and from there out you will get better. When you can drive the more expensive sports cars around the city with never ever taking your foot off the gas come back and tell us how bad the vehicles handle.

Aiming, this is the games biggest problem for me, free aim and zoomed crosshair not lining up is a massive fail, but seeing as the game is designed to be played with auto aiming on I've been able to forgive this.

Game of the generation? not even close. Game of the year, not for me, not close to TLoU. Excellent game worthy of sinking 40 hours in to? definitely.

Yeah they wobble more than Austin Collie does after a catch up the middle of the field. Seriously don't know what rockstar was thinking there.

They certainly didn't push for realism. If actual helicopters handled that way they'd be falling out of the sky all the time. And they certainly didn't aim for arcadey accessibility, or else they'd handle like San Andreas' passable choppers. I honestly have no idea what they were going for. The only rational answer I can think of is "how can we make them handle as poorly as possible while still being semi-functional?"

Basically all of this. I'm fine with the vehicle handling, but movement and on foot combat is such a massive disappointment. In close quarters it feels almost exactly like GTAIV. There's fun to be had here, but it's, once again, in spite of the faults with the base gameplay.

A bit premature considering:

1.) Your driving skull attribute can be improved so by the middle of the game, it's much easier to drive cars fast without crashing.
2.) As others have said, there's a option to make the reticule much more bigger.
3.) Do you sit 10 feet away from a 40 inch tv or something?

What makes you say that, do your helicopters in GTA V "fall out the sky"? I certainly haven't had that issue.

No. I've never been able to have a smooth landing without scraping the blades all over trees and the ground though. My issue with the helicopters in GTAV is that there's no easy way to just slow down and hover in place.

Have you ever tried using the top-down view when hovering/landing? It should help ... also, the map tells you how level you are ... sorry, but a lot of these complaints just seem to be people that either have no skill playing video games or don't want to take the time to improve their skill.

I'm sure if R* wanted to make some dumbed-down Wii kidz version of the game, they could. I would think adding some element of skill or skill improvement was an intended decision.

Maybe it's because I eventually mastered flying helicopters in GTA IV, they don't seem all that different to me in GTA V. I don't see anything particularly obtuse about it... you tilt the rotor in the direction you want to move in. If you're moving in a direction you don't want to, tilt in the opposite direction. For my part, it truly is a matter of practicing and becoming accustomed to how the controls work and feel. I have never been ashamed to admit that I only came to enjoy GTA IV's driving and flying after a LOT of practice. When I started playing GTA V, everything already felt like second nature to me. A little bit of windshear on the planes and choppers just isn't enough to ruin it for me.

I have no problem seeing how level I am - the problem I have is staying level.

If you could maintain top-down view that would be useful, but it readjusts itself every time you hit the left stick.

I appreciate that you seemingly have no complaints with the helicopters in V, but the issue seems to be pretty pervasive throughout the fanbase. Not really one of those issues you can dismiss by saying "get good".

It's the constant bobbing and wobbling when you try to fine tune stuff. When you let all controls go it does hover but when it's bobbing and wobbling it just looks like it will fall to the ground if you don't continue to hold gas. They just need to get rid of that wobbly stuff. It's a nightmare to try to keep steady when you may need to make small adjustments.

Ok here's a photo of I took of the absurdly small text I believe the final line is telling me to click the left stick i had to pause the game get out of my seat to read this. I game on a 42" plasma I sit about 5ft away and I wear glasses the writing is small. The crosshairs are as well.

the driving in this game is horrible

jump over a cliff with a car and it actually trys to level itself to the ground below it

Free aimed the whole game, and I thought it made the game both easier and more satisfying to play. Not sure what frustration you were experiencing, but it's not something I had a problem with. Free Aim > Lock On all day long.

I suspect the people complaining about the driving prefer lawnmower physics similar to what is in Sleeping Dogs.

Also Helicopters control just fine. I grabbed most of the collectibles with helis and never had issues after doing the flying school and getting used to them again.

Rockstar, don't listen to these people and don't tone down the difficulty of the game even further. :/
